Influence and result of Examples - Quran Chapter 2-26b (Pt-1 Stg-1)(L–48)-درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 2-26b (Pt-1 Stg-1)(L–48)-درس قرآن

 Influence and result of Examples

Surah ‘Al-‘Baqarah (The Cow) – Chapter – 2)
Stage – 1, Verse – 26a of 286, Section – 3 of 40 (Part - 1)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

26b.  Those who believe know that it is the truth from their Lord; and those who disbelieve say: What doth Allah wish (to teach) by such a similitude?
26b.  Fa-‘ammallaziina ‘aamanuu fa-ya’-lamuuna ‘annahul-Haqqu mir-Rabbihim. Wa ‘ammal-laziina kafaruu fayaquuluuna maazaaa-’araa-dAllaahu bihaa-zaa masa-laa.

Commentary

For causing to understand the people, Allah Almighty describes the people by giving resemblances. The aim of these examples is that the people should understand the Commandments of God Almighty clearly, not that they should begin absurd reasoning and contradiction.

It has been explained in this lesson that the Believers take this example as true and proper explainer and consider it right from God. But the Infidels begin to deride on these examples and they ask as satire that what God Almighty means by giving these kinds of resemblances?

The Believers have full faith in it that God Almighty is Worshipped and Muhammad (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) is His True Messenger. They consider it their first duty to obey the Commands of God Almighty and His Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam), and act upon them. They believe in Their Sayings with true heart. Therefore, if God Almighty mentions any similitude, they try to understand its true object. They don’t care that the similitude is of what sort itself? Whether is it customary or have some importance? Whether any superior thing has been described in it or inferior? Moreover, they think about its true purpose and learn from it.

The Infidels deny Allah Almighty and disbelieve in His Prophet (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam). They don’t have any interest to find the Just. They just keep watching the secrets in the verses; either to find out faults or criticize unnecessarily. So, whenever Allah Almighty describes any likeness for their consideration, then in spite of trying to understand its true meanings, they begin to raise unreasonable questions regarding it and ask from the Believers as satire: What does God desire by giving such kind of similitude?

In this verse, there is a lesson that the Believers and the people who have good moral character are those; who think about the similitude; explained by Allah Almighty, try to understand it and give up irregular debate.

Similitudes of Holy Qur’aan - Quran Chapter 2-26a (Pt-1 Stg-1)(L–47)-درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 2-26a (Pt-1 Stg-1)(L–47)-درس قرآن

Similitudes of Holy Qur’aan

Surah ‘Al-‘Baqarah (The Cow) – Chapter – 2)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

26a.  Lo! Allah disdaineth not to coin the similitude of a gnat or even anything above that.
26 a.  ‘InnAllaaha laa yastah-yiii ‘any-yazriba masalam-maa ba-‘uuzatan- famaa fawqahaa.

Commentary

Fawqahaa – (Above that), literal meaning of fawq is “upper, over, above”. It aims “more lean and ignoble thing than it”.

In the previous verses, God Almighty invited the disbelievers and infidels for proving the truth of Holy Qur’aan that if they consider that it is not Word of God (we seek refuge in God), then they should produce any Word like this. But they could neither give its answer till to-date and nor may they until the Doomsday. In such condition of helplessness, they could do nothing. However they began to find faults in the Holy Qur’aan and said: How is it an extraordinary that God, having too much high position and greatness, gives similitude of so contemptible and lean things?

The fact is that mention of the biggest creatures has also come in the Holy Qur’aan at different places as well as the smallest too. Where animals like elephants, camels and horses etc. have been mentioned, there is ant, fly and mosquito etc. also. For causing to understand the people, God has described similes of these animals. For example; somewhere He says that idols of infidels are too weak and helpless to create a fly. But when a fly or mosquito sits on their faces they cannot let it fly. Somewhere He says that the religion of the Infidels is weak like spider’s web. Hearing such similitude, some Infidels began to say that God of Muslims speaks so strange (we seek refuge in Allah) that He does not hesitate to mention likenesses of so small things. God replied to their criticism in this verse.

Similitude means “such thing, for which the example is given, should be impressed upon mind to bold and bright. Now that simile will be the best which fulfills this object, whether that thing is much customary or small itself. The mosquito is a too much ignoble and unimportant creature. Now where there is a need to explain unreality of the idols or any other creature, there example of mosquito will be appropriate. Criticizing it is proof of folly and immaturity.

Summary of above mentioned verse is that Allah Almighty does not hesitate from giving similitude of a mosquito or smaller thing than it, because purpose of giving example is to explain about something. The example will be given as something exists. There is nothing to hesitate or take bad from it.

Regalement in Paradise - Quran Chapter 2-25b (Pt-1 Stg-1)(L–46)-درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 2-25b (Pt-1 Stg-1)(L–46)-درس قرآن

Regalement in Paradise

Surah ‘Al-‘Baqarah (The Cow) – Chapter – 2)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

25b.  As often as they are regaled with food of the fruit thereof, they say: This is what was given us aforetime and it is given to them in resemblance. There for them are pure companions and therein they abide for ever.
25b.  Kullamaa  ruziquu  minhaa  min-samaratir-rizqan,   qaaluu  haazallazii  ruziqnaa min-qablu,  wa  ‘utuu  bihii mutashaabihaa.  Wa  lahum fiihaaa  ‘azwaa-jum-mutah-harah,  wa  hum  fiihaa  khaaliduun.

Commentary

Mutah-haratun – (the pure). It aims the companions (wives/husbands) favored to every person in the Paradise, they will be pure and chaste in all respect. They will be far from the filth of body and soul.

Khaaliduuna – (will abide for ever). This word has been derived from khaluud, which means “to abide for ever”, that is to say; they will never be removed from the Paradise. So, one name of the Paradise is Jannat Khuld.

In this verse, Allah Almighty has explained with more detail about the rewards; which will be given to the Believers and Pious people. Usually, which things are essential for living a good life, an individual desires; a fine and well furnished house, delicious and tasteful meals and cold for eating and drinking respectively, pure, beautiful and pious companion, rest and comfort for ever; that is to say; there must be no fear of ending and destruction of such things, which he/she possesses . Moreover, he/she would have faith that oneself will reap advantage always from these things.

God Almighty has promised with the Believers for the things like these i.e. the people, who will believe, during this worldly life time, in Oneness of God Almighty, His Prophets/Messengers and His Angels (Peace be upon Them), His Holy Scriptures, being alive again on the Day of Resurrection, good or bad fate from Allah Almighty, and who will act upon His commandments and the Sayings of His last Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam), they will be admitted in such Paradise, after the life of this world, where they will live in the beautiful Gardens. They will be served with such different kinds of fruit, which, in shape will be like the fruit of this world but by taste, relish and fragrance, those will be much superior to the fruit of this world.

Because, the Paradise is a home of every kind of material and spiritual pleasures and comforts, therefore, it will be their good fortune that their companions will be pure, clean and chaste. There, they will have never any fear that any of their pleasures or comfort will be lessened a little or withdrawn from them. But God Almighty will assure them that these all favors are permanent, durable and forever. They are lucky, who are rightful owners of that Paradise. Allah Almighty bless all of us with such kind of Belief.

Glad tidings for Believers - Quran Chapter 2-25a (Pt-1 Stg-1)(L–45)-درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 2-25a (Pt-1 Stg-1)(L–45)-درس قرآن

Glad tidings for Believers

Surah ‘Al-‘Baqarah (The Cow) – Chapter – 2)
BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

25a.  And give glad tidings (O Muhammad) unto those who believe and do good works that theirs are Gardens underneath which rivers flow.
25a.  Wa  bashshi-rillaziina ‘aa-manuu  wa  ‘amilus-Saali-haati  ‘anna lahum jannaatin- tajrii  min-tahtihal-‘anhaar.

Commentary

‘Aa-manuu – (They believed). Those people who have not any doubt in the Divinity of God, Prophet-hood of the Messenger ‘Muhammad’ (Peace be upon Him) and the Truth of Holy Qur’aan.

Wa ‘amilus-Saali-haati – (do good works). It aims such works which are according to the guidance of Holy Qur’aan and Sayings of the Messenger (peace be upon Him), pure from badness and crookedness.

To prove the Truth of Holy Qur’aan, the Infidels and unbelievers were challenged in the previous verses that if they were in doubt concerning that which God Almighty has revealed unto His slave  (Muhammad), then they should produce a Surah of the like thereof , and call their witnesses beside Allah if they were truthful. But with effect from that period, no human being of the world could produce the answer to this challenge till today. And as God Almighty has described along with it that they can never do it. Therefore they were warned also about the punishment of this denial and accusing of false-hood. That is to say; they will be thrown in such Fire of the Hell, fuel of which is men and stones.

In this verse good tidings have been given to those who believe, against the disbelievers, and do good works; that they will enter in such Gardens (Paradise) where all facilities of comfort and pleasure will be existed for them. The rivers of cool and flavored water will be flowing into them.

Now it is clear that for being rightful resident of the Heaven and for entering into it, two excellences are necessary for the human being:

·         There must be no doubt in one’s heart regarding God Almighty and His Prophet (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam). (He should perceive that his worshiped, Lord and Master is Allah Almighty, promise that the Messenger of God (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) is true, believe that the Holy Qur’aan is the Word of God and have faith in the Day of Resurrection i.e. the Belief in the next life after death of this world’s life).

·         His all deeds must be according to the commandments of Holy Qur'aan and Sayings of the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon Him). He should never give up any such work which has been ordered and instructed as mentioned above. He should never commit any forbidden work.

We learnt from the Summary of this verse that the Paradise cannot be attained only with good works, till Belief and Faith do not exist in the heart along with it, which is called “Obedience”. Just like this, good works are necessary also with the Belief.

Powerlessness of enemies - Quran Chapter 2-24 (Pt-1 Stg-1)(L–44)-درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 2-24 (Pt-1 Stg-1)(L–44)-درس قرآن

Powerlessness of enemies

Surah ‘Al-‘Baqarah (The Cow) – Chapter – 2)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

24.  And if ye do it not and ye can never do it, then guard yourself against the Fire prepared for disbelievers whose fuel is of men and   stones.
24.  Fa-‘illam-  taf-‘aluu  wa lan-taf-‘aluu  fattaqun-Naarallatii  wa-quudu-han-naasu  wal-hijaa-ratu  ‘u-‘iddat  lil-Kaafiriin.

Commentary

Wa-quudu-han-naasu wal-hijaa-ratu – (Its fuel is of men and stones). It is indicated towards the Fire of the Hell, which will be very rigorous. It will burn the stones also in addition to the human beings. As though, the Idols of stones will be its fuel too. The indication from the word ‘Al-Hijaa-ratun may be towards the cruel humankind.

In the previous lesson, the opponents were invited for competition against the Holy Qur’aan. Now, they are being told: if you may not face, and We say that you shall never be able to fulfill the demand of Qur’aan, then it is obvious that it is the Word of God. And it has been disclosed that the Messenger, Muhammad (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) is the True Prophet. Now if you do not have faith in the Prophet-hood of ‘Muhammad’ (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) and do not act upon the commandments of Holy Qur’aan, it shall be the Base of the Hell’s Agony. So, you must arrange to be saved from it, because the Fire of Hell is not any normal fire. But that is such Fire; fuel of which will be men and stones. And this Fire has been prepared for such people; who contradict the commandments of Islam, Prophet-hood of Muhammad (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam), the Truth of the Divine precepts of Islam and purity of Holy Qur’aan.

Some more matters have also been cleared from this verse:

·         The matter in which the enemies of Islam; particularly “the Quresh” had big pretension, that is to say “Purity of the words and to cause to understand the meanings easily”, making them humble in the same, it was proved that this Word is of Allah Almighty.

·         False gods; which the people have adopted instead of One God (Allah Almighty) and ask them for their desires, those all were refuted.

·         Punishment of infidelity was fixed i.e. the Hell.

We should have no doubt in the Divinity of the Holy Qur’aan, the Truth of Islam, sincerity and honesty of the Messenger ‘Muhammad’ (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) because if the entire human beings try collectively to write any one, small chapter like the Chapters of the Holy Qur’aan, they cannot bring (in which all those excellence must exist which exist in this Word of God Almighty). Some of the excellence are: pure words, eloquence and rhetoric, preaching of good manners, explaining the meanings excellently, material for relief and guidance of all people, instructions for the mankind in the entire fields of difficulties and problems, useful equally for all the nations of the world etc.

Challenge of the Last Scripture of Allah - Quran Chapter 2-23 (Pt-1 Stg-1)(L–43)-درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 2-23 (Pt-1 Stg-1)(L–43)-درس قرآن

Challenge of the Last Scripture of Allah

Surah ‘Al-‘Baqarah (The Cow) – Chapter – 2)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Lesson

Holy Qur’aan is a proof of its truth itself. It claims that if unbelievers do not accept it as the Word of God, then they must produce any Word like this by producing themselves. If Holy Qur’aan is made by any humankind or it has been invented by the Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii WasallamHimself (Let us flee to God), then they certainly can succeed in creation of such word.

God Almighty commanded in one verse of Holy Qur’aan, “Make and produce ten surahs (Chapters) like Holy Qur’aan”. At another place commanded, “Bring only three like this written by you”, and in this Surah, it is commanded, “if not, then produce at least one Surah like this, which should be created by you. You can call and collect your all protecting friends to try, but there is only one condition that your Word would have all those literal and meaningful qualities, which are held in this Word of God, and your Word should affect the life of human being as the Chapters of Holy Qur’aan”.

Before Islam, the Arab nation was in the rear from other nations in many matters. Morally, she had lost spirit of humanity. Socially and economically they were at the lowest stage. They did not have any political sense. They were plain from the conception of the religion. Indeed they were brave, but ignorance and bigotry had made them idiots and oppressors.

Allah Almighty revealed this Holy Word upon His last Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) and by means of it, this nation became Spiritual Guide of the entire world. The Messenger of God Almighty (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) had never learned from any human being teacher. He (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) did not know “How to read or write” absolutely. He (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) did not have any information about any other part of the world. The people of His (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) country were also illiterate and they were proud of being ignorant and illiterate.

With the Word of God (Holy Qur’aan), the Illiterate Prophet (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) carried His illiterate and ignorant nation on such stages of development and perfection that there is no comparison to them in the history of the world. The same Arabians became Guides of the nations of the world in morality, spiritualism, sociology, economics, politics, sovereignty and the religion i.e. every field of life.

In the Islamic history of one thousand four hundred years, no scholar or learned person could accept this challenge of Holy Qur’aan. During the time of Caliph Haroon Rasheed, Ibn maqna’ and some centuries earlier, the scholars and writers of Lebanon tried boundless, but they could not write the answer of even seven verses of “The Opening” (Surah ‘al-Faatihah).
