Birth of a son without father - Quran Chapter 3- 47 (Pt-3, Stg-1) (L-390) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 3- 47 (Pt-3, Stg-1) (L-390) - درس قرآن

Birth of a son without father

Surah ‘Aali-‘Im-raan (The Family of ‘Imran) – Chptr – 3)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

47.  She said: My Lord! How can I have a child when no mortal hath touched me? He said: So (it will be), Allah create what He will. If He decreeth a thing, He saith unto it only: Be! And it is.
47.  Qaalat  Rabbi  ‘annaa  yukuunu  lii  waladunw-wa  lam  yamsasnii  basher.  Qaala  kazaali-killaahu  yakh-luqu  maa  yashaaa’.  ‘Izaa  qazaaa  ‘amran-  fa-‘innamaa  ya-quulu  lahuu  ‘KUN’-  fa-yakuun.

Commentary

When God Almighty caused to hear Mary (peace be upon her) the glad tidings about the birth of Jesus (peace be upon him) care of an Angel (peace be upon him), she astonished and thought, “Wonderful; how it can be? No man has touched me so far. How the birth of a child would be possible?” Allah Almighty commanded, “There is no surprising thing in it. Allah creates what He will. He is not indigent of apparent causes. When He determines to do something, He says unto it only; Be! And it is”.

This verse manifests the extent of the Divine Power of Allah Almighty. He is The Cause of causes, creates the cause for each work Himself. He created the earth, the heavens and the entire things of the universe. He created one above the one thing. How can He be necessitous of causes and sources?

God Almighty has framed laws to run the system of universe as; the water quenches the thirst, the hand burns whenever someone puts it into the fire, the human being is lost when his heart beat stops, children will be born with the copulation of male and female. These entire things appear in accord with ordinary manner. As per idiomatic meaning, these are called ‘Laws of Producing’. That is to say; if any cause happens, then any result of it comes out.

In this regard, observation of the mankind has become so matured that he discovers cause of each result and produces cause to accomplish each result. He becomes thunderstruck upon any happening, if he does not find its natural or external cause.

In this verse, Allah Almighty has fixed that this observation of the human being is false. It has been searched out that existence of the causes has been set up only for the satisfaction of the mankind. Every thing is possible before the extent of the Divine Power. Only making a signal by Allah Almighty is sufficient for completion of any work. Therefore, He commanded, “when I devise any thing, I make a signal of ‘KUN’ (Be) only unto it. So, that work is completed (And it is). I am not needy of apparent causes”.

Glad tidings regarding Messiah - Quran Chapter 3- 45 & 46 (Pt-3, Stg-1) (L-389) - درس قرآن

Glad tidings regarding Messiah

Surah ‘Aali-‘Im-raan (The Family of ‘Imran) – Chptr – 3)

(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

 وَيُكَلِّمُ ٱلنَّاسَ فِى ٱلْمَهْدِوَكَهْلًا وَمِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ 46

45.  (And remembers) when the angels said: O Mary! Lo! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him, whose name is the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, illustrious in the world and the Hereafter, and one of those brought near (unto Allah)-

46.  He will speak unto mankind in his cradle and in his manhood, and he is of the righteous.
45.  ‘Iz  qaalatil-mallaaa-‘ikatu  yaa-Maryamu  ‘innallaaha  yu-bashshiruki  bi-Kalimatim-min-hus-muhul-Masiihu  ‘Iisabnu-Maryama  wajiihan-  fid-dunyaa  wal-‘Aakhirati  wa  minal- Mu-qarrabiin.

46.  Wa  yukalli-munnaasa  fil-mahdi  wa  kahlanw-wa  minas-saalihiin.

Commentary

Kalimatin – (a Word), according to Holy Qur’an and Sayings of the Last Messenger, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) has been named as KalimatUllah. As the title of Angel Gabriel (peace be upon him) is Ruuhul Qudus, just like this KalimatUllah is the title of Messenger Jesus (peace be upon him). Even in this manner, the Words of Allah Almighty are uncountable, but Jesus (peace be upon him) is specifically called KalimatUllah for the reason that his birth was without father, only by the Command of Allah Almighty, contrary to the custom. The matter, which will be contrary to reason, custom and rules, will be attributed directly to God Almighty.

‘Al-Masiihu – (the Messiah), this Hebrew word is a form of the word ‘Maasheikh or ‘Mashiihaa, which means, “auspicious, sacred, blessed, happy and august” etc. Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) is remembered usually with this name.

‘Iisabnu-Maryama – (it is the second name of Messiah), ‘Iisaa has come out from the Hebrew word ‘Iishuu’, which means Sayyid (A lord, prince, chief, a descendant). Here this matter needs close attention that Holy Qur’an has kept particularly the word “’ibni-Maryam” as a part of the name of ‘Iisaa (Jesus) (peace be upon him). Therefore, his (peace be upon him) lineage will remain always towards his mother, Mary (peace be upon her). Likewise, to disclose the greatness of Mary (peace be upon her) her name has been made a part of the name of Jesus (peace be upon him) for ever.

When glad tidings of Jesus (peace be upon him) was given to Mary (peace be upon her), then it was possible that she would have confused that, “How the people will accept him (Jesus) without father? In addition, they will calumniate in various ways. How would I be able to announce about my chastity? Allah Almighty explained, “O Mary! Be satisfied, I shall bestow him great honor; not only in the Hereafter but also in this world and prove that their entire charges are false. Your son will be most polite and righteous of higher degree. He will be still an infant that talk to the people (in the cradle). You will have nothing to speak about your chastity and acquittal; you would have to say only, “I have fasted today, can not speak, the child (in his cradle) will speak himself unto you, and even during his manhood he will describe the people about God Almighty”.

Mary’s guardian - Quran Chapter 3- 44 (Pt-3, Stg-1) (L-388) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 3- 44 (Pt-3, Stg-1) (L-388) - درس قرآن

Mary’s guardian

Surah ‘Aali-‘Im-raan (The Family of ‘Imran) – Chptr – 3)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

44.  This is of the tidings of things hidden. We reveal it unto thee (Muhammad), “Thou wast not present with them when they threw their pens (to know) which of them should be the guardian of Mary, nor wast thou present with them when they quarreled (thereupon).
44.  Zaalika  min  ‘ambaaa-‘il  gaybi  nuuhiihi  ‘ilayk.  Wa  maa  kunta  ladayhim  ‘iz  yulquuna  ‘aqlaamahum-  ‘ayyuhum  yakfulu  Maryam.  Wa  maa  kunta  ladayhim  ‘iz  yakh-tasimuun.

Commentary

In this verse, Allah Almighty has described in corroboration of the claim of Prophet-hood in respect of the Messenger of Islam, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him). “We have taught him, these entire past happenings which the Last Prophet (grace, glory, blessing and peace be upon him) has been causing to hear the people. The Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) has absolutely not invented them himself. Its proof is that, apparently the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is totally illiterate. He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) did never attend company of any person who believed in one of the previous inspired Scriptures of Allah Almighty, so that he might know from them about these occurrences. Moreover, suppose! If he would have remained with them, then you may know that those people had also not the correct knowledge. They had fallen in whims worship. They had changed the correct incidents. So it is clear that these entire facts, for instance; to vow the mother of Mary, birth of Mary, acceptance of petition by Allah Almighty, fostering and security of Mary, supplication of Prophet Zachariah (peace be upon him), birth of John, glad tidings regarding Jesus Christ (peace be upon them) etc. How these entire facts might be known by the Messenger, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) without the source of the revelation from Allah Almighty”?

After adducing the above-mentioned proof in favor of Messenger-hood of Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), Allah Almighty has begun again the description of Mary (peace be upon her).

Mary (peace be upon her) was accepted in vow. Then she was sent for the duty of the Temple of Jerusalem. Now there was a problem regarding her goodly growth. It was settled that lot should be drawn for her guardianship. The form of lot was proposed that all the attendants of the Temple of Jerusalem should leave their own pens (with which they used to write Torah) in to the flowing water. Whose pen turns towards the direction of coming water, he would be guardian of Mary. Therefore, it was done so. The pen of Prophet Zachariah (peace be upon him) did not flow towards the direction of flowing water but it changed its direction and returned. So responsibility regarding growth of Mary was given to him (peace be upon them). Zachariah (peace be upon him) was really a well learned and one versed in religious matters, and he (peace be upon him) was also maternal uncle of Mary (peace be upon them). Consequently, the Right reached the Rightful with the Will of God Almighty.

God Almighty recognized again that Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) was not present at that time when the attendants of the Temple of Jerusalem were leaving their pens into the water for taking decision regarding a guardian for Mary (peace be upon her). But in spite of it, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) accrued this knowledge by means of the Revelation. Even after this argument of Allah Almighty, those people who deny the Messenger-hood of Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), they went astray, they have lost the Straight Path. Severe threat is for them. It is clear evident from this verse that Holy Qur’an is not the collection of stories and tales. It is the Book for Guidance and which incidents and facts are written in It, those are for manifesting of its purpose.

Worthiness of Mary - Quran Chapter 3- 42 & 43 (Pt-3, Stg-1) (L-387) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 3- 42 & 43 (Pt-3, Stg-1) (L-387) - درس قرآن

Worthiness of Mary

Surah ‘Aali-‘Im-raan (The Family of ‘Imran) – Chptr – 3)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

42.  And when the angels said: O Mary! Lo! Allah hath chosen thee and made thee pure, and hath preferred thee above (all) the women of creation.

43.  O Mary! Be obedient to thy Lord, prostrate thyself and bow with those who bow (in worship).
42.  Wa  ‘iz  qaalatil-malaaa-‘ikatu  yaa-Maryamu  ‘innAllaahas-tafaaki  wa  tah-haraki  wastafaaki  ‘alaa  nisaaa-‘il-‘aalamiin.

43.  Yaa-Maryamuqnutii  li-Rabbiki  wasjudii  warka-‘ii  ma-‘ar-raaki-‘iin.

Commentary

‘As-tafaaki – (you are chosen), besides choosing; it also means liking and selecting. The word Mustafaa has also come out of it, which means chosen and selected.

Holy Qur’aan does not verify only past Scriptures and Prophets (peace be upon them), but it confuted strongly also the misunderstandings which were born about them (Heavenly Books and Prophets) and the disbelievers had accused and charged falsely against them.

The Children of Israel used to slander about the birth of Jesus Christ, his mother (peace be upon them), other persons of their family and likewise in connection with their teachings. Holy Qur’aan refuted all of them. Therefore, it commands that:

Allah Almighty said to Mary by means of His Angels (peace be upon them) that He has chosen her to bestow His blessings and favors. He has accepted her (peace be upon her) in His dedication and made her pure, and has preferred her above all the women of creation. For example that, “You will bring forth the Prophet (peace be upon them) likewise Jesus Christ without being touched by any male person. This beauty has not been given to any other woman of the entire world.

Then Allah Almighty commanded to Mary (peace be upon her), “While you have been given such higher grade and honor, you should be obedient to your Lord, prostrate yourself and bow with those who bow in worship”.

These verses manifest that Allah Almighty specifies the person for His favor and bounty to whom He wills. He sends His blessings upon him/her and bestows preference over others. The mankind should worship their Lord, bow themselves before Him and bow along with those who bow.

It is the best way of being grateful to Allah Almighty. He likes very much the contribution and submission of His servants. The person who thanks One God (Allah Almighty) on His blessings, He sends more blessings upon him/her.

Commentary

When glad tidings was given to Prophet Zachariah (peace be upon him) that a righteous son would be born in his house, he (peace be upon him) was much surprised and said, “Apparent causes about the birth of a son do not exist, old age has overtaken me and my wife is barren. How can the son be born”?

Allah Almighty commanded that He is not needy of the causes. He does what He wills.

When Prophet Zachariah (peace be upon him) relied on it, he requested, “O my Lord! Tell me any token with which I may know that my wife will bring forth a son”. Allah Almighty described, “Token of this glad tidings is that you will not speak with the people for three days except by signs. So whenever you feel this condition and your tongue remembers sincerely your Lord much, then understand it that offspring is near to be born”. Which token was told by Allah Almighty, that had biggest excellence i.e. that was a token as a sign and worship of Allah Almighty as adoration. That is to say: on one side that became cause of information (about glad tidings of the son) to Prophet Zachariah (peace be upon him), and on the other side that became source of Allah’s prayer and gratitude. Along with it Allah Almighty urged Zachariah (peace be upon him) to praise (Him) in the early hours of night and morning in these days, and remain engaged in mentioning His Praise and Chasteness.

Allah Almighty is the Cause of causes. He is the Master over the entire universe. He can do within a moment whatsoever He desires. He is not needy of any cause. Therefore, the mankind should have faith in the Power of Allah Almighty instead of keeping in view the apparent causes; and produce his every longing in His Court. If we shall depend only on our efforts and strength, then it will be not only going astray, but in case of failure, we shall be disappointed very much, result of which is suicide.

Commentary

Prophet Zachariah (peace be upon him) used to grieve in heart looking at the condition of His (peace be upon Him) nation and think, “Nobody seems to be the Heir of that Knowledge of Prophet-hood which is a specified thing of the family of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) in the entire nation at this time. Will these people be deprived of it after Me (peace be upon Him)?” He had no child in his house. His wife was barren and he had become old. He (peace be upon Him) used to pray always, “O Allah! Appoint someone heir of my knowledge”.

Prayer of Prophet Zachariah (peace be upon him) was accepted. One day he (peace be upon him) was standing in His (peace be upon Him) sanctuary for worship of Allah Almighty. An angel (peace be upon him) called him and told, “Allah Almighty gives you glad tidings of (a son whose name is) John.” The Angel (peace be upon him) of Allah Almighty also described following characteristics of that blessed child:

·       He (peace be upon him) will confirm and verify the Words from (orders of) Allah Almighty.

·       He (peace be upon him) will be lordly and chaste.

·       And he (peace be upon him) will be a Prophet, chaste and righteous.

It will be known from these verses that wish of children is a natural matter. Allah Almighty accepts the supplications which come out from the heart, and His pious servants pray for good children.

Commentary

Zakariyyaa – (Zachariah (peace be upon him) was a Prophet of Allah Almighty. He was husband of the mother’s sister of Mary (maternal uncle). After the death of Imran, (the father of Mary) Zachariah (peace be upon him) became chief of the nation.

‘Al-  Mihraaba – (the sanctuary), an asylum, a separate place for somebody’s living alone for worship. Mihraab of Masjid (Mosque) is also called by this name because Imam (the spiritual leader) stands alone in front of all the people separately as a leader of them for prayer.

Although female was not accepted to attend the temple (haikal), however Allah Almighty accepted the prayer of Mary’s mother and put this matter in the hearts of attendants of the Temple of Jerusalem (Bait ul Muqaddas) that they should accept this girl contrary to common rules. When dissention arose among the Haikal (the Temple) about Mary’s sustenance, then a cast was drawn and the cast came out in the name of Zachariah (peace be upon him).

Allah Almighty caused to grow Mary (peace be upon her) unusually respecting spiritual, literary, corporeal and moral. Zachariah (peace be upon him) became her guardian. He tried his best in her training. When Mary rose a little, a separate sanctuary was specified near the place of worship for her living. Mary (peace be upon her) used to remain there busy in worship.

Zachariah (peace be upon him) used to come there many times daily. Whenever he went there, he saw in the sanctuary different kinds of food and fruit, and perplexed that by whom these things are being delivered to Mary. Therefore, he asked Mary, “O Mary! Who gives this food to you? She answered: It is from Allah Almighty. Allah gives without stint to whom He wills by means of the unknown sources about which nobody can think.
