Causes of God’s anger

Surah ‘Aali-‘Im-raan (The Family of ‘Imran) – Chptr – 3)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Commentary

The mention of a nation, which earned the Anger of Allah Almighty (the Jews), is being made continuously. Following various forms of Divine’s wrath were described in the first part of this verse:

·       Ignominy shall be their portion wheresoever they are found.

·       They have incurred anger from their Lord. So Sovereignty, independence and freedom are not in their luck.

·       Wretchedness, poverty and want will overcome them.

There are only two forms to escape from this wrath of the Most Strong Ruler (Allah Almighty):

1.   If they grasp (hold fast) the rope of Allah Almighty, follow the Divine law of religion and become His slaves (servants).

2.   If they make treaty and promise with other People and nations, and come in with their support.

In this part of the verse, Allah Almighty commands that there are four causes of this condition:

1.   They used to disbelieve in the Revelations of Allah Almighty; it means that they used to falsify the Commandments of God Almighty. The signs and miracles, which were revealed, they did not accept them too.

2.   They slew Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon them). Slaughtering of the Prophets (peace be upon them) was not such a minor crime but they committed this crime without any particular reason.

3.   They made the evil and the disobedience as their national tradition.

4.   They used to transgress, it aims that they crossed the Divine’s limits and did not remain bound in the limits of the laws.

Entire history of the Jews is evident upon such analysis of their national life. Establishment of the so-called state of Israel itself is living proof of the truth of God's Word.

God’s anger on the people of the Scripture

Surah ‘Aali-‘Im-raan (The Family of ‘Imran) – Chptr – 3)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

112a.  Ignominy shall be their portion wheresoever they are found save (where they grasp) a rope from Allah and a rope from men. They have incurred anger from their Lord, and wretchedness is laid upon them.
112a.  Zuribat  ‘alayhimuz-zillatu  ‘ayna  maa  suqifuuu ‘illaa  bi-Hablim-minAllaahi  wa  Hablim-minannaasi  wa  baaa-‘uu  bi  gazabim-minAllaahi  wa zuribat  ‘alay-himul-maskanah.

Commentary

Zuribat  – {grievous hurt, is stroke, shall be (their) portion} this Arabic word is also used besides above meanings as “to walk, to fix and to impose.. ”. It has been used for these three meanings in the Holy Qur’an too. Here it has been used as the last meanings of ‘affixed’ or ‘imposed’ (ignominy upon them).

Zillatun- (Ignominy), this word is commonly used for humiliation and disgrace. Some disgraced people and nations remain deprived of respect and honor despite their knowledge, wealth and independence. The disgrace and the humiliation surround them.

Hablim-minAllaahi  - (a rope or promise from Allah), it aims “unless these people will neither choose the Divine law of Islam for themselves and nor follow Allah’s Instructions, ignominy will not be kept away from them. (for more explanation please read lesson # 431).

Hablim-minannaasi  - (a rope or promise from the people) second condition is fixed that if it is not so, then they would have to enter in the articles of agreement with the human beings. Until when they will not get the support of other nations, will not be able to get rid of disgrace and humiliation.

Baaa-‘uu  bi  gazabim-minAllaahi  -  (They have incurred anger from their Lord), it means that they came in the fold of Allah’s wrath due to their evil doings and bad deeds, Divine wrath imposed upon them.

‘Al-maskanah -  (wretchedness) poverty and indigence are also forms of anger and wrath of Allah. The financial misery and the economic breakdown are main causes of disgracing themselves of any nation.

111.  Lany-yazurruukum  ‘illaaa  ‘azaa. Wa  ’iny-yuqaatiluukum  yu-walluukumul-‘adbaar. Summa  laa  yunsaruun.

Commentary

‘Illaaa  ‘azaa – (save a trifling hurt) it means that the Jews will either abuse, or reproach with their tongues or will cause any other trifling hurt. They can not harm you more than this.

Allah Almighty commanded to the People of the Scripture in this verse, “If you had believed, it was better for you, like this you also could join the khayral  ‘ummam  (the best of the communities). You would be honored in the world and got reward in the Hereafter. But Alas! None of them accepted Islam besides a few persons {for example Abdullah bin Salaam or Negus (the Emperor of Abyssinia) etc}. Despite becoming the truth obvious, they stuck disobedience.

Most people of them are disobedient. Allah Almighty says, “O Muslims! You must not be afraid due to looking either their more manpower strength or materially arms and equipment”. It is promise by Allah that these disobedient will not harm you on the condition that you prove yourself the best of nations in right meanings. These people at most can just abuse with tongue, or say you bad things or cause trifling hurt. They neither can overcome you, nor can cause you any big trouble. Be sure that if they would fight against you, they will turn and flee and they will not get any help. They will be disgraced by defeating.

This foretelling of Holy Qur’an became exactly true. During the times of Companions of Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) the People of the Scripture congregate like this. They tried hard for destruction of Islam and Muslims but could not harm Muslims. Wherever they competed, ran away after defeat. And at every occasion Allah Almighty helped the Muslims.

Commentary

In the beginning of previous section it was commanded that “Yaaa-‘ayyuhal-laziina  ‘aa-manut-taqUllaaha  haqqa  tuqaa-tihii”   (O ye who believe! Observe your duty to Allah with right observance). Some such matters were explained during the description, about which Allah Almighty commanded that those should be performed. Moreover, some such matters were discussed which were forbidden by Him. Then reward for the righteous people and the punishment for the sinners was mentioned. Again, the subject is being turned towards the beginning. That is to say; “O Muslims! Allah Almighty has declared you as the best community out of the entire communities. It had been destined in His knowledge that you would get excellence over all other communities. In addition, this news was conveyed to the former Prophets (peace be upon them). As the Last Prophet, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is the most distinguished of the Prophets (peace be upon them), likewise his (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) Nation (Muslim Ummah) is also the most distinguished and superior to all other communities and nations. Because this nation has been bestowed with the noblest Messenger ((grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), the most comprehensive and perfect religious law, and the doors of Knowledge and Science have been opened for it.

Khayra ‘ummatin –  (best community) the Muslim Nation was given the title of khayra ‘ummatin  too besides the Moderate Nation, the Community of Abraham and several other honorable  titles.

‘Ukhrijat linnaasi – (raised up for mankind) means that this community will bring the entire nations of the world at the door of Faith by preaching and inviting the people. It will forbid the wrong deeds. This Muslim nation will prevent the people from evil deeds by tongue, hand, pen and by the sword. Each type of strife and struggle, and a Muhammadan religious war (Jihad) is obligatory upon it.

One more characteristic of this best nation has been described here that it believes in Allah Almighty. All good qualities, which are found in the Muslim nation with the correct management, those did not exist in any previous nation. The Companion Umer (May Allah be pleased with him) said, “whoever of you wants to join this nation (the best of nations), he should fulfill its all conditions. It means ‘Amr  bil-ma’-ruufi, (enjoining the right conduct) and Nahii  ‘anil-munkar, (to forbid the wrong), and Believe in Allah. It can happen so, at such time, when every individual will dress himself at first because he cannot correct others without correcting oneself.

  109.   Wa  lillaahi  maa fis-samaa-waati  wa  maa  fil-‘arz.  Wa  ‘ilal-laahi  turja-‘ul-‘umuur.

Commentary

Good qualities of the Muslims and bad qualities of the Infidels were discussed in the previous lessons including their end. Now it is being commanded strictly, “Don’t consider that these entire Words (Holy Qur’an) are a lie. These are quite true and right, which We cause to hear you by means of Our Messenger” (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him). Allah Almighty does not desire to tyrannize His creatures in any form. The meanings of the tyranny should not be taken here as we use them in common. Because Allah Almighty does not do as we do in this world. According to our opinion, there may be four kinds of the tyranny:

·       If Allah Almighty sends such severe commands; purpose of which is to trouble only.

·       That, the person is punished, who deserves His Mercy.

·       That, the person is punished much severely, who committed a little sin.

·       That, the person is not remunerated properly according to his/her virtue.

Allah Almighty will never tyrannize like above four tyrannies, because His every Commandment is only for the training of human beings and His every matter is suitable exactly according to philosophy and expedience.

The earth, the skies and the entire existing things of the world are in His hand. Therefore, there is no question regarding tyrannizing and injustice. Allah Almighty is the Creator of the entire creatures. He fulfills their requirements. Their life, death, Prosperity, misery, pain and pleasure depend on Him.  Indeed, there are so many kinds of dooms, which the human beings have to meet with. They have to face many difficulties, calamities and misfortunes, and they have to go also through many tests. At that time, they consider that the mountains have attacked upon them. They begin to curse their fate. It is the fact that Allah Almighty does never tyrannize anyone. A humankind should keep the forbearance and be settled on the virtue. He should remain steadfast on the right path and pray from Allah Almighty for himself always that his feet do not tremble.

Bright faces - Quran Chapter 3- 107 (Pt-4, Stg-1) (L-436) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 3- 107 (Pt-4, Stg-1) (L-436) - درس قرآن

Bright faces

Surah ‘Aali-‘Im-raan (The Family of ‘Imran) – Chptr – 3)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

 وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ٱبْيَضَّتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ فَفِى رَحْمَةِ ٱللَّهِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَ 107

107.  And as for those whose faces have been whitened, lo! in the Mercy of Allah they dwell for ever.
107.  Wa   ‘ammal-laziinab-yaz-zat   wujuuhuhum  fafii rahma-tillaah.  Hum   fiihaa  khaaliduun.

Commentary

After describing the result of infidels and deniers in the previous verse, now the condition of such people is being explained; whose faces will be whitened with the Light of Belief and Piety on the Day of Resurrection.  Allah Almighty will let them entered in His Mercy and provide them place for dwelling in the house of pleasure and comfort.

The real truth of any matter becomes conspicuous by comparing. Therefore, value of the righteousness appears when vicious results of badness would have been cleared. Moreover, the value of the whiteness increases when taken a look at the blackness. Hence, these two types of verses accompany. In the former verse, it has been described that the people, who either didn’t embrace Islam even after listening to the invitation of the last Messenger, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allah Almighty be upon him) and the Holy Qur’an, or they just admitted by tongue the Truth of the Prophet (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allah Almighty be upon him), but heartily they remained infidels and in spite of believing in the good news of earlier Scripture, they had been falsifying the Prophet of Islam (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allah Almighty be upon him). Allah Almighty will punish them severely.

Now about those people it has been mentioned, who accepted Islam by their true nature. They believed in Allah Almighty, admitted the Prophet Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) as a true and the last Messenger, put the teachings of Holy Qur’an and the traditions of Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) into practice. Allah Almighty will bring them to the Heaven. Every kind of Blessings is present there. They will live there for ever. They will never be destroyed there.

Allah Almighty compares between the Believer and the Infidel, the Heaven and the Hell, so that the sensible people would have to learn from it and become eligible for the Heaven in the Hereafter by passing good-working life in this world. Nevertheless, commonly the human being tries to collect the worldly benefits because he has no more belief in Allah Almighty and the Day of Judgment. Perhaps he considers that these things have no reality. Otherwise, it can never be possible that even after such palpable and clear explanation, any person goes towards the badness in spite of the goodness, does not think the lie as a lie and the sin as a sin, and remains involved in plundering and ravaging unlawfully, and be present in the Court of Allah Almighty after becoming disgraced. May Allah Almighty save us from the disgrace, bestow us success in the world and in the Hereafter, even if we face some difficulties and sufferings in the world, give us courage to bear with them, so that the permanent and endless life of the Hereafter would not effect.

Commentary

It was mentioned earlier that human deeds are not wasted. Their appearance remains permanent. Those are enumerated by Allah Almighty. The faces of the people will disclose their deeds on the Day of Judgment. The persons who would have passed their lives with good deeds, the Light of Belief and God fearing will be shining upon their faces. Their faces will become white. They will be in much respect and dignity, and seen very pleasure. Contrary to them, those persons who remained involved in evils and sins throughout their lives in this world, they lead in evil-working and wicked deeds, at that time their faces will become black with blackness of their infidelity, immorality, adulteration and hypocrisy. As it were, the face of every person will become mirror of his/her inside.

Allah Almighty will ask from every infidel, Hypocrite and Renegade, “Did you become Infidel after believing? Why did you choose infidelity in substitution of Belief”? Those people would not have any answer of this question. Their heads will bow down due to shame and repentance. They will fall in the abyss of disgrace and infamy, and they will be caused to hear the command of punishment. In retaliation of the infidelity, they will fall in the severe doom and enter into the Hell, where they will remain and rot forever.

It is the condition of the Hereafter, where every individual would have to clear the accounts of his/her entire life (of this world), where he/she will get permanent either reward or punishment. But every person would have to face the results of his/her deeds in this world too. Moreover, their faces are mirrored of their lives. If any person commits evil, then the evils begin to show themselves upon his/her face. The tokens of humiliation and bashfulness appear. On the contrary, as the result of the goodness, he/she gets the fame and gloriousness. The people calling out aloud say, “he/she is of the Paradise, the Light rains on his/her face, the illumination glitters from one’s eyes”. His/her forehead becomes glorious.
