Property of the Orphans - Quran Chapter 4- 2 (Pt-4, Stg-1) (L-507) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 4- 2 (Pt-4, Stg-1) (L-507) - درس قرآن

Property of the Orphans

Surah ‘An-Nisaaa’  (Women) – Chapter – 4)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

2.  And give unto orphans their wealth. Exchange not the good for the bad (in your management thereof) nor absorb their wealth into your own wealth. Lo! that is a great sin.
2.  Wa  ‘aatul-yataamaaa  ‘am-waalahum  wa  laa  tatabadda-lul-khabiisa  bit-tayyib.  Wa  laa  ta’-kuluuu  ‘am-waala-hum  ‘ilaaa  ‘amwaalikum.  ‘Innahuu  kaana  huuban- kabiiraa.

Commentary

Yataamaaa – (orphans) those children, who do not have their parents, particularly father.

Khabiisan – (the bad), that is to say; impure, unreal and unclean.

Huuban – (punishment for a fault distressing), such sin and burden, result of which is; misfortune and disaster.

It is evident from the name of this Chapter “’An-Nisaaa’ ” that the matters regarding the women will be discussed especially along with their rights and duties in it. Therefore, in the primary verses, at first, it has been cleared that the birth of man and woman takes place from the same one body. Consequently, sobriety and God-fearing should be considered as actual standard of excellence, and treat all of them with kindness and kinship.

Now in the second verse, it is being commanded, “Do not seize the wealth of orphans.” Committing so is; just like mixing the impure in to the pure. If any person uses the wealth of orphan unlawfully, as though, he is making his lawful and pure earnings also as unlawful, impure and bad. As any person makes water-filled glass impure by putting a few drops of urine in to it, likewise by taking over (snatching through any means) insignificant and a little wealth of the orphan, he makes unlawful entire earning of his life.

Purpose of revelation of this verse is told so, that there was excessive wealth of a person’s orphan nephew in his care. When his nephew became adult, he demanded his wealth, but his uncle denied to hand him over. At that occasion, this verse was revealed, listening to it the uncle returned his orphan nephew’s wealth and said, “We obey Allah Almighty and His Messenger (grace, glory, blessing and peace be upon him)”.

It has also been described that it does not mean that snatching the wealth other than orphan is lawful and you would not be punished. No! Wealth of others is unlawful for you too, whether he/she is anyone. Saying this sin huuban- kabiiraa (a great sin), the importance of the reality of sin and badness has been cleared, so that nobody may remain in doubt.

At first; treating the relatives with kindness, mercy and kinship was emphasized, then behavior with the orphans was explained and at the end, it has been advised to correct the affairs with the entire children of Adam (peace be upon him). It is the actual Spirit of Islam.

Creation of the Mankind

Surah ‘An-Nisaaa’  (Women) – Chapter – 4)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

1.  O mankind! Be careful of your duty to your Lord Who created you from a single soul and from it created its mate and from them twain hath spread abroad a multitude of men and women. And be careful of your duty toward Allah in Whom ye claim (your rights) of one another, and toward the wombs (that bare you). Lo! Allah hath been a Watcher over you.
1.  Yaaa-‘ayyuhan-naasut-taquu  Rabbakumullazii  khalaqakum-min-Nafsinw-waahida-tinw-wa  khalaqa  minhaa zaw-jahaa  wa  bassa  minhumaa  ri-jaalan-kasiiranw-wa  nisaaa-‘aa. Watta-qUllaahal-lazii  ta-saaa-‘aluuna  bihii  wal-‘arhaam.  ‘InnAllaaha  kaana  ‘alay-kum  Raqiibaa.

Commentary

Nafsin – (soul, person, matter), from which, any other thing is created. Here it aims, Prophet Adam (peace be upon him), from the left rib of whom, Eve (peace be on her) was brought out. And from this couple, entire other human beings were born.

Zawjun – (couple, pair), when one thing is completed by mixing up with the other, and without the other, it remains half, then these both things are called “couple” of each other.

‘Arhaamun – this word is plural of rihm or rahm. Rihm means “the womb” and rahm means mercy, kindness, pity and sympathy. That is to say; it aims kindness and kindred (both), however, here it aims “kindred”. Arrangement of loving and treating one’s relatives nicely has come out from the same.

This verse signifies towards the creation of the first humankind i.e. Adam (peace be upon him), then Eve (his wife) was created from his (peace be upon him) left rib as his mate and from them twain, Allah Almighty has spread abroad a multitude of men and women in the world. It means that the woman is weak a little than the man. Lord Almighty is such God Who nourishes and provides entire necessary things to the human beings. Therefore, it is compulsory for us to bear His orders and Pleasure in our minds in every matter and every time, and we should escape from His displeasure. Even in each mutual matter, every person points towards Allah Almighty for His sake, but there is a dire need to have fear of His displeasure in our hearts and we should not be disobedient of our Lord at any cost.

While the entire humankind are children of one man and one woman (Adam and Eve) (peace be upon them), then they have very deep mutual relationship with one another likewise brothers and sisters of one another. Therefore, everybody should try; not to harm someone else. However, they should help and sympathize mutually. It is important to guide towards good deeds, to save from evils and errors, to help in difficulties, to look after with spirit and wealth at the time of necessity, to keep providing comfort and consolation among ourselves. Close relatives need more attention to be looked after. We should not forget it also that besides our relatives, we have human relation with the entire human beings of the earth. Whenever the time comes, good behavior is incumbent with everyone. ‘Arhaam has been derived from the word (plural of) rahm which means mercy, kindness, loving and treating one’s relatives nicely.

The children of Adam (peace be upon him) have been addressed in the verse that they should have fear of That Existence (Allah Almighty), Who created them. This order of God-fearing is for the entire humanity. Piety for the disbelievers is that they should embrace Islam, believe in Allah Almighty as only One God, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) as Allah’s last Messenger out of other entire prophets/Messengers (peace be upon them), Qur’an as last Holy Book out of all Scriptures which has never been changed, nor it is possible to be changed by anyone in future.

Piousness for the Muslims is that they should remain steadfast in their belief and do good deeds.

Introduction of Suratun-Nisaaa’ - Quran Chapter 4- Intro (Pt-4, Stg-1) (L-505) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 4- Intro (Pt-4, Stg-1) (L-505) - درس قرآن

Introduction of Suratun-Nisaaa’

Surah ‘An-Nisaaa’  (Women) – Chapter – 4)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

This Chapter of Holy Qur’an, named ‘An-Nisaaa’ (The Women) was revealed in Madinah. There are 176 verses and 24 Sections in this Surah. Mutual relationship between the Man and the Woman has been described particularly in this Surah that which rights and duties they would have to perform for one another, how the relatives must be treated, how the social evils can be removed, which method would be better to live altogether and what are the benefits of living as a unit (one community) with one another?

Being a mankind, men and women, both are equal because soul of both of them is the same. Care especially for the orphans. Do not marry fatherless girls for your own advantage by losing them. You can marry two, three, or four common women at a time on the condition that you should do justice among them and you should not seize the rights of any woman. When you will be able to understand the rights of women correctly, then you will become justice and wise in getting the orphans married yourselves.

After that, law of distributing the inheritance has been explained in detail. Then punishment to the men and women upon their unacceptable deeds has been prescribed. Time and method of penitence has been revealed. Then there is mention about those women; with whom the marriage is unlawful. During the reign of last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace of Allah Almighty be upon him), there was a class of slaves and bondwomen, the method, how to treat them, has been stated.

Then it is commanded: Do not take forcible possession of others’ property or wealth. However, willingly business is lawful through trade. Do not kill one another. The people are very different from one another in their personal physical strength and knowledge. Friendly relationship can be in such a manner that everybody would understand the limit of his capabilities and do his job remaining in it. There is much open difference between male and female. Therefore, they should never compete with each other. The person, who will work remaining in personal limits, shall get its fruit and will succeed. The relationship among husband and wife cannot be at too much variance after deeming to this extent. If either behavior of the husband is quite correct but the wife begins to molest or opposite to it, then it becomes very necessary somehow to correct the violent.

Following two important laws have been described in this chapter. Mankind’s betterment, goodness and welfare depend on them:

  • Any person, who has capability of any work, that is to say; he/she can perform any particular work in a very good manner, he/she should be appointed for such work. Likewise, everything should be given to the rightful. It should not be so, that the deserving person remains deprived of any particular thing and the unworthy person takes its possession. It is the key to soundness of the society.

  • Obey the commandments of Allah Almighty and His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and the person, who is much at home in any particular work, follow him/her in that work and act upon his/her guidance. Find settlement/decision in the Commandments/Sayings (Holy Qur’an and Hadith) of Allah Almighty and His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), in case of difference of the opinions. These Commandments/Sayings (Laws) are spirit of the management of the government.

Afterwards the way of deeds regarding the Hypocrites has been discussed that they do not agree to the decisions of the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and have more confidence in other people.

Then people are prevailed to be prepared for the crusade of religion because it is compulsory to save the weak Muslims from the tyranny of cruel disbelievers. The behavior of Hypocrites has also been reproached in it. These people behold nothing but their own benefit/advantage. To kill any Muslim intentionally is a very severe sin and its punishment is wrath of Allah Almighty and Fire of the Hell. If anybody kills a Believer mistakenly, due to error or omission, then expiation should be paid for it.

The prayers during journey and in the condition of fear have been explained that if there is threat of enemy’s assault and the time of prayer has started then how it would be offered.

After that, belief in a plurality of Allah Almighty (polytheism) has been mentioned that it is an unpardonable sin. Remain with the group and use to discuss the matters regarding introduction of good deeds, methods of correction and mutual relationships during reciprocally meetings. Keep correct and good faith in Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him). At the end, remaining principles regarding inheritance have been described.

Let’s Review the Chapter Three - Quran Chapter 3- Review (Pt-4, Stg-1) (L-504) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 3- Review (Pt-4, Stg-1) (L-504) - درس قرآن

Let’s Review the Chapter Three

Surah ‘Aali-‘Im-raan (The Family of ‘Imran) – Chptr – 3)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

Beginning of Surah ‘Aali-‘Imraan was with these words: Allah! There is no God save Him, the Alive, and the lives of all living beings are firm due to Him. He revealed the Inspirational Scriptures for the Guidance of human beings. After all, by sending Holy Qur’an, He finalized them. He fixed a touchstone to test “The True and the False”. Some verses of Holy Qur’an are so much obvious and bright that every individual can understand them easily, but some are those, meanings of which cannot be known by everyone. We should believe in all of them and have faith that their meanings are quite right and these entire are from our Lord.

Then, it has been described that the heart of the human being inclines more unto his wife and members of his family, and keeping safe of enough wealth and chosen things, whereas these all things are inconstant. Special consideration should be given only to please our Creator and acquire betterment of the Hereafter. Desiring Paradise after death is the best object. Allah Almighty has determined Islam as the religion of the entire mankind of the world. Alas! Some people turn away their affections from it.

After that, the birth of Mary (May Allah be pleased with her) and her breeding, the birth of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon Him), attempt for correction of the nation by Him (peace be upon Him) and His miracles etc. were mentioned. Then the Christians were commanded that they should reap advantage from His teachings, and obey the commandments of the last of all the Prophets, Muhammad (grace, blessings and peace be on Him) and the final Scripture, Holy Qur’an, brought by Him, because their own Scripture, Gospel is witness of Their Truth. Along with it, it is commanded that Abraham (peace be upon Him) was neither Jew and nor Christian but a Muslim.

Afterwards, a useful Message has been conveyed for the Jews and the Christians that they should give up slavery of one another and bow before Allah Almighty collectively. If they do not accept this Message, then the Muslims should remember it and hold these principles fast being unanimous. They should give up quarreling with one another. Thus they will become the best nation. Observing them, other people will begin to be saved from the evil deeds and choose good works.

Then, attention of Muslims have been drawn towards the Battle of Badr that in it, their success was a forceful Blandishment of God’s Dignity. Success in it without Support of Allah Almighty was not possible. After that, it is commanded that usury is forbidden and they should be saved from it. Most probably, the commandment about escaping from usury/interest has come here due to the reason that – as Muslims reaped advantage from success in this Battle, like this, they will acquire benefits by giving up usury. And the entire human beings will be saved from destruction.

Next, incidents of the Battle of ‘Uhud have been narrated, which loss was suffered by the Muslims, reason of that was: Commandment of the Messenger (grace, blessings and peace be on Him) was not obeyed properly. It has been narrated that behavior of the Hypocrites, which they adopted in this Battle and which was cause of damage to Islam and injury to Muslims, was very bad.

Then Muslims have been directed that way of life of the Christians and the Jews is wrong and objectionable. They should not follow them. They will suffer from their side. They should mind their own business with patience and tolerance. And they should seek help of God Almighty by means of supplicating. Then method of supplicating has been taught and caused to understand that they should not be deceived from apparent prosperity of the Infidels. Their last abode is Fire of the Hell. However, those people of the Scripture, who will believe and do good works, they will be given good rewards. At the end, the Muslims have been advised: Be patient and stand still before your enemies. Continue to be prepared against them. Do your duty to Allah Almighty and ward off evil. It contains your success.

Quran Chapter 3- 199 & 200 (Pt-4, Stg-1) (L-503) - درس قرآن

Principles of success

Surah ‘Aali-‘Im-raan (The Family of ‘Imran) – Chptr – 3)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

199.  And lo! of the People of the Scripture there are some who believe in Allah and that which is revealed unto you and that which was revealed unto them, humbling themselves before Allah; they purchase not a trifling gain at the price of the Revelations of Allah. Verily their reward is with their Lord. Lo! Allah is Swift to take account.

200.  O ye who believe! Endure outdo all others in endurance, be ready, and observe your duty to Allah, in order that ye may succeed.
199.  Wa  ‘inna  min  ‘Ahlil-Kitaabi  lamany-yu’-minu  Billaahi  wa  maaa  'unzila- ‘ilaykum  wa  maaa  ‘unzila  ‘ilayhim  khaashi-‘iina  Lillaahi,  laa  yash-taruuna  bi-‘Aayaa-Tillaahi  samanan-qaliilaa.  ‘Ulaaa-‘ika  lahum  ‘ajruhum  ‘inda  Rabbihim.  ‘InnAllaaha   Sarii-‘ul-hisaab.

200.  Yaaa-‘ayyu-hallaziina
‘aamanusbiruu  wa  saabiruu  wa  raabituu:  wattaqUllaaha  la-‘al-lakum  tuflihuun.

Commentary

In these verses, such People of the Scripture have been described, who are sober and pious, who believe in Allah Almighty correctly, who have faith in Holy Qur’an, who used to prostrate before Allah Almighty with sincerity and humbly, who did neither hide the glad tidings and nor changed the Commands of Allah Almighty. Verily very much respectable reward for them is with their Lord Almighty. The Day of Account (regarding deeds of everybody – good or bad) is not at much distance but that is coming very soon. On that Day (of Resurrection) they will be remunerated fully.

A collective advice has been narrated for the Muslims at the end of this Surah (Chapter). That is to say; if you wish to succeed in the world and in the Hereafter, then you should adhere to the Obedience by enduring even during the harshness and the severity. Remain away from the evil deeds and sins; show your strength, perseverance and steadfastness against the enemies, keep protecting Islam, stand still and fight against the enemy and observe your duty to Allah all the times and in everything. If you did so, then it is sure that you got entire blessings and succeeded. Allah Almighty has admonished four advices and determined them the source of success at the end of this Surah (Chapter).

1.   ‘Asbiruu  - (Endure outdo all others in endurance, be patient) means that first rule of success is steadfastness.

2.   Saabiruu - (be ready, instruct others for patience and be strong in fight) make other persons accustomed of the patience and determination too along with you.

3.   Raabituu - (continue in close contact and be united) mutual connections and strong relations are the stairs of success.

4.   ‘AttaqUllaaha – (observe your duty to Allah) God fearing and abstinence is fourth principle of success.

Commentary

Allah Almighty has compared the difference between the End of Believer and Disbeliever. The Disbelievers collect the revenue/wealth lawfully or unlawfully and are proud of it. The Muslims should not be deceived observing it. This world is as a place adorned with the blooms of springs for a few days. If someone causes to hear the punishment of execution after luxurious enjoyment of only a few days, then what will he feel? The real pleasantness of life is that a person gets a place of pleasure for ever after suffering and bearing a little labor. If we compare this pleasure, success and comfort with that ‘place adorned with the blooms of springs for a few days’ then we shall be able to know automatically that which place is better out of the two?

Those people who used to fear from Allah Almighty, they would be given abode in the Paradise underneath which the rivers flow, as retaliation of their good deeds. They will remain in the Heavens forever and will be the guests of Allah Almighty. That is to say; they would not have to think about their provision, but every thing will be provided to them with respect in a state of ease and comfort. Reward of such fortunate people which is held with Allah Almighty, is very better.

Although the Infidels and the governments of the Disbelievers are seen apparently developed today, they appear prosperous economically, they have ease and comfort of the world, but these entire things are transitory. Their last abode will be the Hell. We should not grieve observing their prosperity and development. Those people who do not believe in Allah Almighty and His prescribed Divine Laws, they can never be pure from selfishness. Evidently jollity can be seen everywhere, but the enmity and envy has made among themselves too much deep room in their hearts that neither they can take some rest during the day time nor can sleep at night easily. Actually, they are in the condition of the agonies of death. Fear of one another has prevailed over their hearts and the haughtiness has spoiled them.

So those who migrated and were driven forth from their homes and suffered damage for My Cause, and fought and were slain, verily I shall remit their evil deeds from them and verily I shall bring them into Gardens underneath which rivers flow. A reward from Allah. And with Allah is the fairest of rewards.

Commentary

They beg from Allah Almighty who ponder and consider thoughtfully: “Our Lord! You have promised to us by Your Messenger (glory, grace, blessings and peace be upon him) regarding prevalence upon the Infidels in the world and dwelling place in the Paradise on the Day of Resurrection, so fulfill that promise, certainly You do not break the tryst.

Allah Almighty commands that He does not waste the work of any worker. “As you sow so shall you reap”. He/she shall get produce of any work, who will perform, male or female. Everybody of you will receive full retaliation of his/her deeds. Those persons, who left their beloveds, relatives and native land in the Way of Allah Almighty, caused to plunder their property and wealth, were driven forth from their homes and suffered damage for His Cause, and fought and were slain, verily they are such people from whom He will remit their evil deeds. Verily He will bring them into the Gardens (Paradise) underneath which the rivers flow.

The best reward of good deeds and labor is from Allah Almighty and with Him is the fairest of rewards. Summary of Islam is that the mankind should remain attentive towards Allah Almighty in each condition, what he wants to beg, that should be begged only from Him and he/she should act upon that Guidance without any dispute which He has bestowed upon His most gracious Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him).
