Quran Chapter 4- 86 & 87 (Pt-5, Stg-1) (L-578) - درس قرآن

Better answer of greeting

Surah ‘An-Nisaaa’  (Women) – Chapter – 4)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

86.  When ye are greeted with a greeting, greet ye with a better than it or return it. Lo! Allah taketh account of all things.

87.  Allah! There is no God save Him. He will gather you all unto a Day of Resurrection whereof there is no doubt. And who is more true in statement than Allah?
86.  Wa  ‘izaa  huyyii-tum- bi-tahiyyatin-  fahayyuu  bi-‘ahsana  minhaaa  ‘aw  rudduuhaa.  ‘In-nAllaaha  kaana  ‘alaa  kulli  shay- ‘in Hasiibaa.

87.  ‘Allaahu  laaa  ‘ilaaha  ‘illaa  Huu.  Layajma-‘annakum  ‘ilaa  Yawmil-Qiyaamati  laa  rayba  fiih.  Wa  man  ‘asdaqu  minAllaahi  hadiisaa.

Commentary

Tahiyyata  - (Greeting), this word has some other meanings also, for example; compliments, tribute of any good thing, blessing, prayer, present and gift etc. Here it means ‘to bless, pray and greet for, and compliments. To say the person, who is being addressed ‘Assalaamu ‘alaykum is to bless or to pray for him/her. Meaning of this blessing is that you prayed in the Court of Allah Almighty for his/her safety.

It has been alleged in the previous verse that the person, who intervenes in a good cause, will have the reward thereof. Here it has been emphasized that it is your duty to wish excellence also for them who are your well-wishers. But you would have to wish for them better than what they have wished for you. If anybody says you ‘Assalaamu ‘alaykum, which means ‘May Allah Almighty keep you safe, then you should reply him in the words ‘Wa Alaykumus-Salaam’. This reply is equal to that, what he said. But you can say better in reply also as ‘Wa ‘Alaykumus-Salaam wa RahmatUllaah’, which aims ‘May Allah Almighty keep you safe and reveal upon you His Mercy’. And if the person, who greets you says ‘‘Assalaamu ‘alaykum wa RahmatUllaah, then you should reply in these words ‘Wa ‘Alaykumus-Salaam wa RahmatUllaahi wa  Barakaatu Huu. This reply will be better than what he said. That is to say; May Allah Almighty keep you safe and reveal upon you His Mercy and blessings’.

Then commanded that “Lo! Allah taketh account of all things”. He will not destroy any goodness (even a little) of anybody, but the reward of goodness will be paid in both (this world and the Hereafter).

Every human being should understand that there is neither any God, nor Worshipped save Allah Almighty and nor is any partner of Him. So He can retaliate as better and excellent reward of good deeds as He Wishes. None can stop Him. He has decided that He will bring all of you again to life after death and gather on the Day of Resurrection whereof there is no doubt. The retaliation of goodness, which the people received in this world, that is not sufficient. Full reward will be bestowed upon all on the Doomsday and nobody will be disappointed. There is no room for doubt because what Allah Almighty says that is true. Moreover, who is truer in statement than Allah Almighty? Therefore, having belief in Him is necessary.

A Crusade and exciting desire for it

Surah ‘An-Nisaaa’  (Women) – Chapter – 4)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

84.  So fight (O Muhammad) in the Way of Allah. Thou art not taxed (with the responsibility for anyone) except thyself – and urge on the believers. Peradventure Allah will restrain the might of those who disbelieve. And Allah is Stronger in might and Stronger in inflicting punishment.

85.  Whoso interveneth in a good cause will have the reward thereof, and whoso interveneth in an evil cause will bear the consequence thereof. And Allah overseeth all things.
84.  Faqaatil  fii  SabiiLillaah.  Laa  tukallafu  ‘illaa  nafsaka  wa  harrizil-Mu’-miniin.  ‘AsAllaahu  ’any-yakuffa  ba’-sal-laziina  kafaruu.  Wallaahu  ‘ashaddu  ba’-sanw-wa  ‘ashaddu  tankiilaa.

85.  Many-yash-fa’  shafaa-‘atan  hasanatany-yakul-lahuu  nasii-bum-minhaa.  Wa  kaa-nAllaahu    ‘alaa  kulli  shay-‘im-Muqiitaa.

Commentary

Tukallafu – it is from Takliif which means, to put any burden upon someone, to make liable for any responsibility, to compel any individual to do the work, for which he will be answerable. Mu-kallafun means responsible. Here the aim from the word Laa  tukallafu is ‘You will not be held responsible’.

Harrizun  - this word has been derived from Tahriiz, which means ‘to lift up, to urge on, to incline for some kind of work, to raise and to emphasize’.

Tankiil   - (to punish, to place in torment)

It was admonished in the earlier verses that there was no cause of fear from fighting. While everybody has to taste the death, then why should not one die like the brave men? In the verse it has been ordered to the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), “If the Hypocrites do not get ready for fighting, then you have no concern with them. Come out yourselves, whether any person from them follows you or otherwise. However, you should continue urging them without hesitation. You are not taxed with the responsibility for anyone except yourself. Your only duty is to tell them. Your Supporter is Allah Almighty. It is peradventure that He will restrain your enemies being over-awed from your might, after the act of your coming out for war. Bear in mind that none can fight with Allah Almighty. He is Stronger in inflicting punishment. Trust in Him only.

Then it is being commanded that the person, who intervenes in a good cause, he will have the reward thereof, and whoso intervenes in an evil cause, will bear the consequence thereof. It has also been pointed out in this verse that the best method to excite the people for any work is that the individual should begin the particular tasking first of all himself.

83.  And if any news whether of peace or fear, comes unto them, they spread it abroad, whereas if they had referred it to the Messenger and to such of them as are in authority, those among them who are able to think out the matter would have known it. And if it had not been for the Grace of Allah upon you and His Mercy ye would have followed Satan, save a few (of you).
83.  Wa  ‘izaa  jaaa-‘ahum  ‘am-rum-minal-‘amni  ‘awil-khawfi  ‘azaa-‘uu  bih.  Wa  law  radduu-hu  ‘ilar-Rasuuli  wa  ‘ilaaa  ‘ulil-‘amri  minhum  la-‘alima-hul-laziina  yastam-bituunahuu  min-hum.  Wa  law-laa  FazlUllaahi  ‘alaykum  wa  RahmatuHuu  lat-ta-ba’-tumush-Shaytaana  ‘illaa  qaliilaa.

Commentary

‘Azaa-‘uu  - derived from the word ‘azaa-‘ah, which means ‘to spread, to publish and to proclaim by the beat of drum.

Radduu-hu  - it is from the word radd, which means ‘to refer, to give back, to return, to convey, to bring and to reject.

Yastam-bituunahuu – this word has been derived from ‘istinbaat, which means ‘to think out the reality, to bring out by investigation, to verify, to take out etc.

Purpose of revelation of this verse is told in this manner that the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) directed a person towards a village to collect the poor-due (Zakaat) from the inhabitants of that village. The people of the village came out to welcome him when they heard about his arrival. This person considered that they have come to kill him. He returned immediately, reached Madinah and proclaimed that the inhabitants of such village had gone back from Islam. This news spread in the city but nobody told the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him). After all, when He knew this news, He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) investigated and found that the news was quite wrong.

It has been described in the verse that it is the duty of the people that whenever they get any intimation (whether of peace or fear), they should not tell anybody about it. They should go directly before the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) and to such of them who are in authority, those among them who are able to think out the matter would have known it, and inform them in detail. When they clear the matter as true after necessary verification and investigation, then it should be published in the public.

Heretofore, dealing of the Hypocrites is under discussion and their secret plans are being betrayed. In this verse, another bad habit has been described. The Hypocrites used to spread the rumor, which produce anxiety, so that the Muslims might be confused. If they heard any secret news, they used to spread it immediately, so that, if the news is regarding the battle, then enemies of the Muslims might be careful timely. Moreover, if it was a normal matter, then either the Muslims might be jested or contempt and disgust might be born among the people altogether themselves. In imitation to those people, some senseless Muslims also used to perform such act. All these persons have been warned that they should not do so. It is useless to publish any; by chance hearsay; talk without investigation and there is a risk of being hurt.

Proof of Qur’an’s Truth - Quran Chapter 4-82 (Pt-5, Stg-1) (L-575) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 4- 82 (Pt-5, Stg-1) (L-575) - درس قرآن

Proof of Qur’an’s Truth

Surah ‘An-Nisaaa’  (Women) – Chapter – 4)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

82.  Do they not then ponder on the Qur’an? If it had been from other than Allah they would have found therein much incongruity.
82.  ‘Afalaa  yatadabba-ruunal-Qur-’aan?  Wa  law  kaana  min  ‘indi  gayRIllaahi  lawajaduu  fiihikh-tilaafan-kasiiraa.

Commentary

The directions regarding obedience, perfect subjection, subordination and Messenger-hood of Last Prophet of Allah Almighty, Muhammad Mustafaa, Ahmad Mujtabaa (titles of the Messenger) (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) have been described in the previous verses. Allah Almighty proclaimed in clear words, “Many-yuti-‘ir-Rasuula  fa-qad  ‘ataa-‘Allaah (Whoso obeyed the Messenger has obeyed Allah. Wa  man-tawallaa  famaaa  ‘arsal-Naaka  ‘alay-him  hafiizaa (and whoso turned away; then We have not sent you as a warder over them). In other words, it means that the person who disobeyed the Messenger, he disobeyed Allah. It has also made the people to understand that the opponents of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) should let fly this matter from their hearts that they would ever be able to harm Him (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) or His religion i.e. Islam. Allah Almighty is Sufficient as Trustee.

What the aim of denial from Prophet-hood of merciful Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) may be other than it that the deniers have any doubt or suspicion in the Scripture, brought by Him? To remove their misunderstanding, Allah Almighty provided uncounted proofs about the Truth of Holy Qur’an and being it as His Own Word. Accordingly, they were challenged even in the first Part of Holy Qur’an, “If you consider it as a human Word, but not Mine, then you all opponents are invited to bring any one or half of any Chapter like This.

Here another quite clear and befitting proof has been provided. It is commanded, “Do you not think about Holy Qur’an and in connection with being it as a Truth? If you would have recited it, then you would have found this fact yourselves that there is no difference from the beginning to the end in this corpulent Book. It’s no verse is contrary to the other. There is no absurdity in its teachings from the beginning to the end. If it were human Word, then surely there might be contradictions and absurdity in it.

Think a while, how is it possible that it would be human Word, It has 6,666 (six thousand six hundred and sixty six) verses and sentences, and these entire are so much concordant with one another that none is opposite from the other? No. Surely It is the Word of God Almighty and pure from all the defects. Let us believe in it and gain the Success.

Plots against the Messenger - Quran Chapter 4-81 (Pt-5, Stg-1) (L-574) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 4- 81 (Pt-5, Stg-1) (L-574) - درس قرآن

Plots against the Messenger

Surah ‘An-Nisaaa’  (Women) – Chapter – 4)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

81.  And they say: (It is) obedience; but when they have gone forth from thee a party of them spend the night in planning other than what thou sayest.  And Allah recordeth what they plan by night. So ignore them and put thy trust in Allah. And Allah is Sufficient as Trustee.
81.  Wa  yaquuluuna  Taa-‘ah;  fa-‘izaa  barazuu  min  ‘indika  bayyata  taaa-‘ifatum-minhum  gayrallazii  taquul.  Wallaahu  yak-tubu  maa  yu-bayyituun.    Fa-‘a’-riz  ‘anhum  wa  ta-wakkal  ‘alAllaah.  Wa  kafaa  Billaahi  Wakiilaa.

Commentary

Taa-‘atun  - (obedience), if after hearing any order from some, it is said! Taa-‘atun, it will be meant: I agreed, I admitted or I believed.

bayyatun  - this word has come out from bayaat, which means “night”. Tabayyat means “to work at night”. Here it aims “asking advice of others at night”.

‘A’-riz  - this word is from ‘a’-raaz, which means “to ignore, to turn away, not to care”. It is a token of negligence, inattention.

Another artifice of the hypocrites has been narrated in this verse. When they used to hear the Sayings of the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), they used to say before him (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), “We have admitted, accepted or agreed to your entire commands wholeheartedly and our duty is to obey you”. But when they used to get out from the company of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), then they used to plan secretly at night and bring to a conclusion that possibly they would never obey the Prophet ‘Muhammad’ (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and oppose him as far as possible. Their outward and hidden are not equal. They backbite and do not do that, what they say. If they think that, they would continue deceiving the Muslims by making apparent lame excuses like this, and digging secretly their roots, then they are at wrong because this all secret planning (at nights) is being observed by Allah Almighty. He knows their entire wicked activities from the beginning to the end. This double-faced conduct of the hypocrites will not run more ahead and their fraud will be disclosed positively.

The obedience does not have the meaning that their tongues say, “Yes Sir, very well and all right”, but their hearts make up the mind to commit against it. After that; Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is being commanded, “Trust in Allah Almighty. What He desires to do, does it properly. Neither He needs any help of someone, nor does He care for any opposite. He is Sufficient to complete all tasks. Believe in Him”.

After describing the double-faced policy (conspiracies and artifices) of the Hypocrites, Allah Almighty commanded to the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), “You should turn away from them and put your trust in Allah Almighty; because His Adroitness is Sufficient. Neither you are needy of anybody and nor progress of Islam is connected with any person”.

Obedience of the Messenger - Quran Chapter 4-80 (Pt-5, Stg-1) (L-573) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 4- 80 (Pt-5, Stg-1) (L-573) - درس قرآن

Obedience of the Messenger

Surah ‘An-Nisaaa’  (Women) – Chapter – 4)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

80.  Whoso obeyeth the Messenger hath obeyed Allah, and whoso turneth away; then We have not sent thee as a warder over them.
80.  Many-yuti-‘ir-Rasuula  fa-qad  ‘ataa-‘Allaah.  Wa  man-tawallaa  famaaa  ‘arsal-Naaka  ‘alay-him  hafiizaa.

Commentary

Tawallaa – (turned away), it means ‘to disobey, to revolt’.

Hafiizun – (a warder, a guard), that is to say; the Watching, who hinders and the protector.

A valuable advantage has been mentioned in this verse, which, due to coming of the last Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) in this world, can be acquired by the people. It is the fruit of the Belief that those people, who have believed in Allah Almighty as ‘their and the entire worlds’ Creator, Preserver, Nourisher and Supplier of all needs’, surely they want to obey Him. How a great light is for them in it that Allah Almighty sent a Man duly appointed as His selected Messenger (Muhammad) (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), and proclaimed that the person, who will obey his orders, he will Our obedient and who will disobey Him, he will be considered as he disobeyed Us. He will not be able to please Us (Allah Almighty) through any other method. How a big kindness of Allah Almighty is that He made too much easy and practicable His own obedience for the mankind.

Then He commanded to His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), “Continue explaining before the people those instructions, which they have to do. If someone does not act upon your sayings, in this matter you will not be held responsible. We have not appointed you as a warder or guard over them. We will decide about these disobedient people at Our Own. You should neither grieve and nor care for them”. Alas! Some people think that they can make their life good by following the rich, the proud and the haughty persons, leaving such a kind and loving Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him).

Allah Almighty has established this principle forever in this verse that the person, who wants to be Our obedient, he should obey Our Messenger, and who will not obey the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), he is Our disobedient. He will be punished with the same torment, which has been fixed for the disobedient. In the earlier verses, it has been told clearly that if the punishment is awarded to you, that will be from Allah Almighty and cause of it will be your own deeds. The Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) can neither be held responsible, nor does the blame rest upon him (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him).

There is also an invitation towards the easy path for the human being in this verse, as well as a vigorous threat too along with it. If you will obey the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), then your life of this world and the Hereafter will be correct, because due to obedience you will become obedient servant of Allah Almighty and there is nothing more than it to decorate the life. Moreover, if you will disobey, then you should not charge the Prophet (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) for being punished. The only duty of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) is to deliver the Message of Allah Almighty. It does not include in his duty to drive you forcibly on the Straight Path. Due to disobeying the orders of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), you disobeyed Allah Almighty. Now God will punish you Personally.

Commentary

Hasanatun  - (a happy thing), everything of benefit, happiness, goodness, betterment and virtue are included in the meanings of this word. Here it aims ‘attainment of victory and success, wealth, fortune and riches’.

Sayyi-‘atun  - (an evil thing), each kind of loss, badness, defect and ruin includes in its meaning. In this verse, it signifies towards the defeat and vital loss) pertaining to life and property).

One more manner of execution of the Hypocrites has been described in this verse. When success is acquired in the battle and abundant wealth is possessed then they say, “Allah Almighty bestowed us victory with His Dignity and gave so much wealth”. On the contrary, if the defeat is faced, and loss of life and property is confronted in the battle, then they accuse the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) that He did not plan correctly for the war, due to which we suffered from this loss.

Allah Almighty commands, “Tell them that victory and defeat, success and failure, profit and loss (entire things) are from Allah Almighty. You do not understand the matter to the extent that nobody can do anything except His Will”. In the next verse, Allah Almighty narrated, “You should understand that whatever of good befalls you (O people) it is from Allah Almighty, and whatever of ill befall you it is the consequence of your own deeds. When any badness reaches you, surely you are guilty in it, due to which you are punished, so that you do not repeat such error again. This punishment is given to correct you. What does Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) plan, is also from Allah Almighty, then why do you blame Him (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)? Whatever happens; is from Allah Almighty. If you gain something, that is His Kindness and if you lose something, that is also from Him.
