Surah

Table Spread) – Chapter – 5)
‘A-‘uu-zu

(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)
Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)
53. Then will the believers say (unto the people of the
Scripture): are these they who swore by Allah their most binding oaths that
they were surely with you? Their works have failed, and they have become the
losers.

Commentary
It has been explained also that
these Hypocrites, whose Islam is only by their tongue, not accepted by their
heart, neither they believe in Allah Almighty, nor have any hope about the
prosperity of the Muslims, their hearts have a disease, the same disease, in
which the Jews, the Christians and the Infidels have been entangled i.e.
selfishness, thought about only one’s own gain and trust in apparent worldly
power. Therefore, they are unable to see any form of their safety and escape
except taking the Jews for friends and say to them clearly, “We see that the
Muslims will finish very soon. What authority they have that they succeed
against such powerful, honorable and wealthy people as the Infidels of Makkah,
the Jews and the Christians? If not today then tomorrow, they would have to
suffer from this vigorous calamity. If we remained united with them, then it is
clear that we would also be treated badly by them. So they chose this form of
deeds that apparently they joined the Muslims and assured them by swearing,
“Where shall we go after leaving you? We are with you wholeheartedly”. They
(the Hypocrites) assure the Muslims but their hearts believe that a misfortune
is waiting for the Muslims. Only those people will be saved from it, who would
have friendly relationship with the Jews.
Afterwards, their all thoughts
were proved as false. The Infidels and the Jews were defeated by the Muslims
and there was no any way for them to run away. Their all plans and schemes
failed and they could get nothing save loss and repentance.
