Duty of the Muslims - Quran Chapter 5 – 67 (Pt-6, Stg-2) (L-714) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 5- 67 (Pt-6, Stg-2) (L-714) - درس قرآن

Duty of the Muslims

Surah MAAA-‘IDAH (The Table Spread) – Chapter – 5)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

In the previous verses, after causing to know many commandments, Allah Almighty addresses to His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), “It doesn’t matter if either the people believe or otherwise. You should not be grief due to their wickedness. Certainly the Holy Qur’aan is a collection of good advices for the mankind. If the people do not believe in it, then it is their stupidity and foolishness”.

If the giver is sure that he has a thing which is advantageous and profitable for all, but the person, who has to take it, refuses from taking it, then nothing can be seen in him but his folly. These people have made up their mind that they would take only that thing, which is useful; particularly for them only. What can be more stupidity of a mankind than it? Surely they, who know, will like that thing, which is useful equally for all, and will desire only the quantity of profit, which is equal to others.

That person, who wants that he should receive everything and leave other entire persons longing, is an animal like dogs and beasts of prey. And the person, who wishes that he and his friend should take only, but remaining all people should remain entreating, is like a crow, but he is also mere an animal. It is suitable for the human being that he should take to the extent of his need only, after providing with the necessities of every person. Advantage of everyone is in it only and the dependence of the morality is also only upon it. It is the fundamental stone of that Revelation, which was revealed upon the Messenger Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him). It is compulsory to communicate this Message to the entire human beings, whether they understand it or not. So it has been admonished strictly in this verse.

Allah Almighty commands, “O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him)! Make known (the people, entire) that, which has been revealed unto You from Your Lord” (verbally as well as acting upon it too), because these are the actual meanings of conveying the Message. Otherwise, saying by tongue only, but acting not upon it by oneself, does not have any sense. If You did not convey this Message properly, this responsibility will remain on Your charge and it will be said, “You did not render the due of this Message”. However, those people, who do not listen to You and oppose, You should not have any concern with them. They can never harm You, but will harm themselves. Allah Almighty will protect you from them and preserve you from their wickedness.

You should not be efficacious from it that neither they listen to you, and nor obey you. It is luck of everyone. Some are fortunate, while the others have bad luck. The Belief, which is like the Wealth, is not in their fate, because it has been known due to their disobedience of Allah’s Word that they have adopted the path of infidelity and they like to remain Infidels. It is the Divine’s Law that the ways of guidance have been closed for them, who desire to remain Infidels.

A clear commandment comes out from this lesson for the Muslims that they should produce themselves by making themselves a pattern of Islam, then invite the people for it. If they will not do so, they will be guilty of two crimes. At first, that they did not act upon it themselves and secondly, they did not fulfill their duty to carry the Message of Islam to non-believers.

Responsibility of the Messenger - Quran Chapter 5 – 67 (Pt-6, Stg-2) (L-713) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 5- 67 (Pt-6, Stg-2) (L-713) - درس قرآن

Responsibility of the Messenger

Surah MAAA-‘IDAH (The Table Spread) – Chapter – 5)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

67.  O Messenger! Make known that which hath been revealed unto Thee from Thy Lord, for if Thou do it not, Thou wilt not have conveyed His Message. And Allah will protect Thee from mankind. Lo! Allah guideth not the disbelieving folk.
67.  Yaaa-‘ayyu-har-Rasuulu  ballig  maaa  ‘unzila  ‘ilayka  mir-Rabbik.  Wa  ‘illam  taf-‘al  famaa  ballagta  Risaa-latah.  WAllaahu  ya’-simuka  minan-naas.  ‘InnAllaaha  laa  yahdil-qawmal-Kaafiriin.

Commentary

Ballig – this word is from tabliig, which means “communicating the message, conveying the message of Allah Almighty to non-believers; preaching Islam”. Another word ‘Balaag’ has also been derived from it, which means ‘communication or delivery of a message’. Risaa-latah – ‘The Message’, any written thing, which is required to be delivered to other people. The word Rasuul, has been derived from it, which means ‘the Messenger of Allah Almighty (peace be upon Him).

It has been described many times from the very first that Allah Almighty revealed many Scriptures in the world. The main aim of the Revelations was that, those people should act upon their commands and hold them fast, for whom those Scriptures were revealed. Before the revelation of Holy Qur’aan, the Torah was revealed on the Messenger Moses (peace be upon Him), in which there were all kinds of necessary and clear Instructions about “How to dwell in the world” in those days, the Psalms of David (peace be upon Him), (these both Scriptures were revealed for the Jews), and the Gospel was revealed on the Messenger Jesus (peace be upon Him) with the same basic commandments but some needful amendments, which were considered necessary by Allah Almighty due to human improvement with the passage of time. But the Jews and the Christians did not act upon them.

At the end, the last Scripture i.e. Holy Qur’aan was revealed, and it represented the commandments of all previous Scriptures as true. And those commands were either kept in the same manner or all were gathered with necessary amendments, which were suitable for these people of the last time. And complete Rules of Practice was given to the mankind duly prepared. Now this Scripture is sufficient for the guidance of the human beings until the Day of Resurrection. It has been mentioned in all previous Scriptures to believe in this last Scripture. So, if the Jews and the Christians had acted upon their own Scripture then it was incumbent for them that they would have believed in the truth of Holy Qur’aan and the last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) and obeyed Him, then they would be best people today. They would have obtained all the blessings of the earth and skies in the world and lived in ease and comfort on the Day of Resurrection. They would have obtained deliverance from the entire evils and bad presage of the sins. But alas! They did not do so, but gripped their loins to oppose the Messenger Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) and the last Scripture i.e. Holy Qur’aan, and began to trouble the Muslims. They injured the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), left no omission in their wickedness, mischief, quarrel and fighting against the Muslims, and supported the Infidels of Makkah, when they were fighting against the Muslims.

Right conduct - Quran Chapter 5 – 65 & 66 (Pt-6, Stg-2) (L-712) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 5- 65 & 66 (Pt-6, Stg-2) (L-712) - درس قرآن

Right conduct

Surah MAAA-‘IDAH (The Table Spread) – Chapter – 5)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

It can be understood by thinking a little that the human being needs many things for living. It is clear that everyone has a right to get them. There can be two ways for acquiring necessary things. Either everyone should think only for own purpose and do not care for others, as you can see in dogs, or the other form is “the person, who obtains any important thing, should share it with others” as it can be observed in the crows, but the cock is ahead than the crow in this matter. Which extra quality in the cock than the crow can be seen, is that, if it looks any eatable, calls the hens, feeds them, but doesn’t take anything itself. However if the food is excessive, then it takes as per its requirement. It has also been observed in the small ants that they use to collect their food individually or collectively at one place. Then at the time of necessity, each of them uses to take from their hoard according to one’s need. And none of them says, “Take less because you did not work hard, and to the other, take more because you worked hard”. Islam is a standard-bearer of the second observance.

Though the human being is a dead and gone than a small ant in this matter? He should have so much sense that either he should let his weak and poor brother take according to his necessity or give him personally, and should take himself according to own requirement and do not violate.

But the Jews and the Christians have adopted the first observance as explained above in the example of small ants. They say, “All necessary things, required by the human being should be in our possession. Power and strength, wealth and property are our right. We should never let the poor and the feeble be powerful before us, so that, keeping them our necessitous, we may affect our purpose as much and as we wish by means of them.

The second observance, which belongs to Islam, remains the best at the end; however some difficulties may be borne in the beginning. Everything is going well in the beginning too, but it results ease and happiness completely in future. These true but harsh words have been described in these verses, because “The niggard who gives a quick refusal is better than the benevolent who procrastinates”.

Allah Almighty commands that if those, who say themselves “the People of the Scripture” had believed and warded off evil, then surely He would have remitted their sins from them, they might have gotten opportunity of ease and comfort in the world, and He would have brought them into Gardens of Delight on the Day of Resurrection. They would not have to do more because they had already the Heavenly Scriptures. If they would have acted upon them correctly then today, all of their matters were to be correct, because it has been written in their Scriptures clearly and their Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon Them) have caused to understand them that the Last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) will appear in the Arab. You should follow and obey Him (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him).

It is correct that some people of them are sensible and they acted upon their own Scripture and embraced Islam. But maximum people of them are doing such deeds, which are injurious to the humanity, and foundation of their livelihood depends upon the first observance, which wants to make the entire mankind selfish.

66.  If they had observed the Torah and the Gospel and that which was revealed unto them from their Lord, they would surely have been nourished from above them and from beneath their feet. Among them there are people who are moderate. But many of them are of evil conduct.

Commentary

From the very earlier, mention of those people is under discussion, who opposed Islam in the beginning. At first, Arabian tribes of Makkah were against Islam who were idolaters openly. After that, when the Jews and the Christians knew, they began to support the idolaters of Makkah also to suppress Islam. This support was very useful for the idolaters, and the Muslims had to face many difficulties due to them.

It is known by meditating in that, which the history of those days produces, that there was no any main reason of opposing Islam except that the people had forgotten thinking about the advantages and comforts of others but for their own worldly gains and ease. Everyone desired to keep entire wealth and power of the world in his own depot. On the contrary, Islam wished to teach that worldly wealth, power and property is useful for the entire human beings. None is owner of anything but Allah Almighty and the entire humankind are His servants, so nobody can deprive of others by taking entire things in one’s own possession. The person, who will try to do so, is enemy of Allah Almighty.

Commentary

Apparently some of the Jews are seen wheedling but their hearts are never pure for the Muslims. They use to raise any new confusion every time and have armed to trouble, even that they use to stir up others also to fight against the Muslims. The same condition is of the Christians and the Infidels.

Allah Almighty commands that they remain every time in inclination of war to fight against the Muslims, but He has cast among them enmity and hatred till the Day of Resurrection. Their all plans against the Muslims will be ruined. Whenever they will promote any mischief, Allah Almighty will overpower it. Whenever they will light a fire for war, Allah Almighty will extinguish it.

Their practiced hobby is to spread the mischief and excite the disturbance. They do not want that the people may dwell in peace, safety and cease the hostilities. But Allah Almighty does not like them, who cause to fight mutually themselves. So the sign of this disapproval will keep them confused in the world and they will suffer a very severe punishment too on the Day of Resurrection.

The history is witness that the entire tricks and plans of the Infidels, Idolaters and the People of the Scripture failed. On the contrary to their efforts, Allah Almighty elevated the Muslims. We learnt from this verse that the people, in which disunion and mutual quarrel will be, and they will desire to cause to fight the people, and try to spread the mischief, corruption, disturbance and confusion in the world, they will fail. But at the other hand, those, who will live united and on friendly terms, and they will try to influence the quarrel and stop the corruption, mischief and disturbance, certainly they will succeed.

Arrogance of the Jews

Surah MAAA-‘IDAH (The Table Spread) – Chapter – 5)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

64a.  The Jews say: Allah’s Hand is fettered. Their hands be fettered and they may be accursed for saying so. Nay, but both His Hands are spread out wide in Bounty. He bestoweth as He will. That which hath been revealed unto thee from thy Lord is certain to increase the contumacy and disbelief of many of them,
64a.  Wa  qaalatil-Yahuudu  YadUllaahi  magluulah.  Gullat  ‘ay-diihim  wa  lu-‘inuu  bimaa  qaaluu.  Bal  Yadaahu  mab-suuta-taani,  yunfiqu  kayfa  yashaaa’.  Wa  la-yaziidanna  kasiiram-minhum-maaa  ‘unzila    ‘ilayka  mir-Rabbika  tug-yaananw-wa  kufraa.

Commentary

Magluulatun – (fettered, chained), it is from gullun, which means “to tie, to fasten”. It aims that Allah Almighty (Let us flee to God, Na-‘uuzu Billaah) is ‘a miser’.

Gullat – (are fettered), this word is also from gullun and it is a curse for them. It means that their hands should be fettered. It is like a proverb that “showing one’s displeasure to that person, who displeased the one”. Any sign of curse is not necessary if any person is cursed by any human being, but if Allah Almighty say “Kun” that is, without any delay “Fayakuun”.

Lu-‘inuu – (they may be accursed), it is from la’-nat, which means ‘a curse’. It is affect of above mentioned both curses that the Jews are miser as well as cursed too.

The Jews had lost their wits so much that they used to begin speaking the arrogantly words in the Grace of Allah Almighty. Such a matter was described also in Surah ‘Aali-‘Imraan. It was described there that when they are said, “Spend your property for the Sake of God, pay the poor-due and give the alms, and consider it as you are lending Allah Almighty. He will return you twofold, threefold or more in its retaliation. These people are so outspoken that they begin to say, “Allah is (let us flee to God) a beggar and we are rich, hence He begs from us to borrow Him”.

In this verse, it has been explained that they begin to talk nonsense, by observing the Muslims that they have been improving and increasing, but their own condition decreasing day by day, so they say, “(Na-‘uuzu Billaah) Allah’s Hand is fettered and He is a niggard (let is flee to God) in giving us”. Allah Almighty commands, “Talking so, you are cursed and you irritate Him. Actually you are misers. Both His Hands are spread out wide. One Hand is of Bounty and the other of His wrath. Your ancestors were under His Hand of Bounty due to their obedience and abstinence, whereas you have been under His other Hand of wrath due to your wickedness and disobedience, and collecting His curses due to wicked deeds and tricks”.

62.  And thou seest many of them vying one with another in sin and transgression and their devouring of illicit gain. Verily evil is what they do.

Commentary

Allah Almighty commands that the scholars and educated persons are responsible for the sins and oppression of the common people. He says, “You see many people of them vie one with another in sins and transgression rapidly. They trouble and press them unjust, devour forcibly by snatching the earned property of the necessitous people, because there is a common practice of usury and interest with them, and that can be gotten only from the needy people.

It is revealed that reaping advantage from the need of any needy person unlawfully is contrary to the humanity and the money earned likewise is unlawful. Why do not their Scholars, Rabbis and the priests forbid their evil-speaking and their devouring of illicit gain? Actual badness in the Jews was the same that the rich used to do what they wished, and their Rabbis and priests used to enjoy more than them by taking bribe from them, and in its retaliation, they used to enjoin the unlawful matters as lawful, which were useful for the rich people. It was the reason that the religion was deteriorated and the only purpose of life was “Fill your own homes and enjoy yourselves well by tyrannizing the poor.
