Evidence of the Prophet - Quran Chapter 5 – 117 (Pt-7, Stg-2) (L-763) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 5 – 117 (Pt-7, Stg-2) (L-763) - درس قرآن

Evidence of the Prophet

Surah MAAA-‘IDAH (The Table Spread) – Chapter – 5)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

117.  I spake unto them only that which Thou commandedst me, (saying): Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. And I was a witness of them while I dwelt among them, and when Thou tookest me Thou wast the Watcher over them. And Thou art Witness over all things.
117.  Maa  qultu  lahum  ‘illaa  maaa  ‘amarTa-nii  bihiii  ‘ani’-buDUllaaha  Rabbii  wa  Rabbakum.  Wa  kuntu  ‘alay-him  shahiidam-maa  dumtu  fiihim.  Fa-lammaa  Ta-waffay-tanii  kunta  ‘Antar-Raqiiba  ‘alay-him.  Wa  ‘Anta  ‘alaa  kulli  shay-‘in-  Shahiid.

Commentary

The Messenger Jesus Christ (peace be upon Him) is restless for explaining about His being innocence in the Court of Allah Almighty. He (peace be upon Him) is considering that so much big question cannot be asked without any reason. Certainly, there is any wisdom of Allah Almighty in it. At first, He (peace be upon Him) requests, “O Allah, Gory be to Thee. How can he be an arrogant against Thee? How can he claim as partnership with Thee, who is a servant of Thee, to whom Thee art Kind enough, bestowed and appointed him Your own Messenger and Prophet”? Then Jesus (peace be upon Him) solicits: I have not too much knowledge that I may understand Thy Secrets and discover Thy philosophy, which exists in this question. Thee Know very well that I did never think so (that I may make god myself). Then Christ (peace be upon Him) describes about those deeds, which He (peace be upon Him) performed to keep His duty in the world. In this verse, He (peace be upon Him) explains:

O my Lord! I told them nothing except only that which Thou commanded me. I said to them: Worship Allah Almighty, Who is my and your Lord and Protector. And admit before Him that you (the people) are helpless and poor. None is able to be worshipped but only He (Allah Almighty). O Allah! I was a witness of them while I dwelt among them, and when Thou picked me up, then Thou was the Watcher over them Thyself, and there is no any other except Thy, who may watch because Thou art Witness and Watcher over all things.

After that, Jesus (peace be upon Him) thought, surely there would be a particular reason of this question, that after proving the crime of the claimants of my followers, they may be punished properly against their evil deeds. Therefore, He (peace be upon Him) recommended the evil-livers of His nation in very suitable words being a merciful Messenger, which will be discussed in the next lesson.

Commentary

According to previous lesson, Jesus (peace be upon Him) said to Allah Almighty: Glory be to Thee it did not befit me to utter that to which I had no right. In this verse, it has been described about the next discussion. Jesus (peace be upon Him) requested: O Lord! If I had ever said it, then certainly You would have known it, because You know very well about everything and nothing is out from Your Knowledge. Then how can it be possible that You would not have known that I would have spoken such a false and impure word? I had never thought in such a way, otherwise You had known that also, because You are the Knower of entire Open and Hidden things, and even that Your Secrets can never come in to my knowledge, nor can I think about them. Actually the Knowledge of Hidden Things is only Yours Excellence, because Hidden is that, which is Invisible for the mankind but all is Visible to You.

Jesus (peace be upon Him) said: O Allah! While You bestowed upon me a higher Dignity of the Messenger-hood, then how could such word come out from my mouth, in which there was insolence of You and proof that You are needy of any supporter (God forbid). It is like finding a fault in to You, if anyone considers that You are needy of any helper, whereas You are Pure from all kinds of defects and faults.

So Jesus (peace be upon Him) used the word Sub-haanaKa (Glory be to Thee) in the beginning of his answer – and then said: Being a Messenger, it did not befit me to utter that I and my mother should be taken for two gods beside Allah and (let us flee to Allah) You are not sufficient to be God. In this part of the verse Jesus (peace be upon Him) said: Only You are the Knower of Things Hidden. You know my open and secrets. I produce Your Knowledge as my witness that I did never say these words.

Commentary

It is a promise of wideness in the sustenance for the believers (the Christians) of Jesus (peace be upon Him). But those persons will be punished very severely, who spend in disobedience of Allah Almighty. This promise of wideness in the income was fulfilled, but the Christians did not spend their wealth in accordance with the commands of Allah Almighty. Moreover, they spent it for the purpose of immoral luxury, gambols and games.

For making them acquainted with an event of the Day of Resurrection, it has been described in this section that an inquiry will be repeated from the Messenger Jesus (peace be upon Him) due to His nation. The aim is that they should give up rebellion behavior and wickedness; otherwise nobody will be able to save them from the wrath of Allah Almighty.

It is being commanded: Listen by opening your ears, Allah Almighty will ask Jesus (peace be upon Him), “Did you say to your nation that they should take you and your mother for two gods beside Allah and worship both of you? Jesus (peace be upon Him) will say humbly: O Good and Pure from all defects Allah! It did not befit me to utter that to which I had no right. How can it be so from me whether I am Your Servant and Messenger, which cannot be said by any common human being?

This entire Section of Holy Qur’aan is as much filled up of Greatness and Dignity of Allah Almighty; and mankind’s humility and submissiveness that by reciting it, the hairs stand on end. Here, one should also understand it that the Muslims too believe in Jesus (peace be upon him). Therefore, which lesson the Christians should learn from this description, the same, but more than them, the Muslims should learn.

Promise by Jesus - Quran Chapter 5 – 115 (Pt-7, Stg-2) (L-760) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 5 – 115 (Pt-7, Stg-2) (L-760) - درس قرآن

Promise by Jesus

Surah MAAA-‘IDAH (The Table Spread) – Chapter – 5)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

Another discourse, which seems here, is that the purpose of the supplication by Jesus (peace be upon Him) was that, when ready (for eating) sustenance will be available for the people, they will remain engaged maximum time in the Remembrance and Worship of Allah Almighty heartily. Their dissensions and mutual disputes will come short. They will become able to control their desires, and it will become easy for the people to live like priests and monks. It was the actual reason of saying to the people by Jesus (peace be upon Him) before supplication: Fear Allah, if you are true Believers. The aim of warning the people in this way was: As you ask for such facilities and comforts, so after that, the abstinence and piety of highest standard will be claimed from you. Have you so much strong belief that when you will be spared from labor of earning, will you not pass that time in immoral amusement, gambols and games? Will you continue in close contact with the works of Allah’s Will every time instead of those evil deeds?

In reply to above questions, they assured Jesus (peace be upon Him) that after getting down the Table Spread with Food from the heaven, they would dwell as thankful servants of Allah Almighty. After hearing their answer, Jesus (peace be upon Him) supplicated and asked for the Table Spread with Food from Allah Almighty, He commanded as answer to the supplication: I shall send the Table Spread with Food down. But after it, the person, who will disbelieve, will not be pious and thankful to Me, surely I will punish him with a punishment wherewith I shall not punish any of My creatures.

In the supplication of Jesus (peace be upon Him), there is a request of two things - the Table Spread with Food and the Sustenance. There are different opinions of the people regarding the Table Spread of Food. Some people say: It was sent down by Allah Almighty, but many others say: that was not sent down. However, the supplication regarding wideness in the sustenance and easiness was accepted. That is to say; the person, who will adapt lawful methods of earning, he will be given wideness in the income, but there is a condition in it too, that the person, who will spend this income in good works and lawfully, and will obey the commands of Allah Almighty, will find freedom. But the wealthy misers and evildoers will be punished severely, whereas the poor people will be saved from such punishment. The Jews and the Christians particularly of that time were benefited due to the supplication. The doors of the wealth were opened for the both nations in the world, although the Jews suffered disgrace also along with the wealth due to the reason that they disbelieved in Jesus (peace be upon Him).

The Christians were fortunate in getting wealth and respect because they believed in Jesus (peace be upon Him). The warning of Christ (peace be upon Him) did exist, they would have to remember it that the sources of income, which have been made practicable for them. After earning the wealth, if they would spend it in evil deeds and searching their greatness, then it would be meant that it would be disbelief in God, which might be cause of Allah’s wrath. Even if they are not punished properly in the world, but they can never get rid of on the Day of Resurrection.

Alas! The Christians became proud due to the wealth and forgot that part of the supplication of Christ (peace be upon Him), in which the disbelievers were threatened from the wrath.

115.  Allah said: Lo! I shall send it down for you. And whoso disbelieveth of you afterward, him surely will I punish with a punishment wherewith I shall not punish any of (My) creatures.
115.  QaalAllaahu  ‘Innii  munaz-ziluhaa  ‘alaykum.  Famany-yakfur  ba’-du  minkum  fa-‘Inniii  ‘U-‘azzi-buhuu  ‘azaabal-laaa  ‘U-‘azzibu-huuu  ‘ahadam-minal-‘aalamiin.

Commentary

As a reply to the supplication of Jesus (peace be upon Him), Allah Almighty commanded: I shall send it (the Table Spread) down for you, but bear it in mind that whoso will disbelieve of you afterward, him surely will I punish with a punishment wherewith I shall not punish any of My creatures.

After this, there is no description in the Holy Qur’aan whether the Table Spread of Food was sent down or otherwise, because only those matters have been mentioned in the Holy Qur’aan, which have any guidance for the humankind. A very useful matter has been explained in the supplication of Jesus (peace be upon Him) and its reply, which needs special attention of the human being. It could not be decided till today that whether the Table Spread with Food was sent down or not. Some persons say: That was sent down but the people did not thank God. Those people were punished and that was stopped sending down. Some of them have opinion: The people frightened after hearing the reply of the supplication of Jesus (peace be upon Him) and they took back their request.

We have been taught many useful matters in it. At first, if the Messengers (peace be upon Them) are helpless before Allah Almighty, then what is the position of those friends (saints) of Allah Almighty, who are called ‘Awliyaaa’. We should understand properly the difference between the Creator and the creature. The Messengers (peace be upon Them) and ‘Awliyaaa’ (Saints) (may God be Kind upon them) all are servants of Allah Almighty and He is The Ruler over all of the creatures. The Servants can supplicate only. Accepting or rejecting the supplication is in the Power of Allah Almighty. The aim from it is to falsify the claim of the Christians that “Jesus (peace be upon Him) is son of God (God Forbid). And we would have to learn from it that there is much difference between Allah Almighty (God) and the servant. Besides this, there is another lesson to be learnt that the human being should earn the wealth by those ways, which have been determined lawful, and for this purpose everyone must have to do at least some labor. One should not try or wish to get sustenance, in a state of ease and comfort, by supplications and uncommon ways etc., because it is not easy to be thankful to Him and the end of being thankless is not other than His wrath. And the biggest wrath is that the mankind becomes proud, Satan or mere animal.

Supplication of Jesus

Surah MAAA-‘IDAH (The Table Spread) – Chapter – 5)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

114.  Jesus, son of Mary, said: O Allah, Lord of us! Send down for us a Table Spread with Food from Heaven, that it may be a feast for us, for the first of us and for the last of us, and a sign from Thee. And give us sustenance, for indeed Thou art the Best of Sustainers.
114.  Qaala  ‘Iisabnu-  Marya-mAllaahumma  Rabbanaaa  ‘anzil  ‘alaynaa  Maaa-‘idatam-minas-Samaaa-‘i  takuunu  lanaa  ‘iidalli-  ‘awwa-linaa  wa  ‘aakhirinaa  wa  ‘Aayatam-minKa  war-zuqnaa  wa  ‘Anta  Khay-rur-Raaziqiin.

Commentary

Maaa-‘idatan – (the Table Spread with Food), this word indicates towards the wish of the companions of Jesus (peace be upon Him), that the Table Spread with prepared Food should be sent down from Heaven by Allah Almighty and they should be given everything without any struggle.

As per previous verse, when the disciples, who believed in Christ (peace be upon Him) said: We do not want to test Allah Almighty, but we request only for His particular Kindness, so that we may be grateful to Him freely and engage in His worship wholeheartedly and obey His commands and Your truth may be quite evident upon us and we may see its sign clearly.

Then Jesus (peace be upon Him) supplicated: Our Lord! Only You are Able to fulfill and provide our all requirements. Kindly do not keep us necessitous of struggle in getting needful things but send down for us a Table Spread with Food from the Heaven, that it may be a feast and pleasure for us, for the first of us and for the last of us, and an open sign of Your Kindness may come in our hands. You are the Best of the Sustainers for all of us and certainly the sustenance comes from You in every condition. You can change the way of providing the sustenance without any delay. Everything is in Your Power. Neither anyone can be equal to You in providing food and sustenance, nor can act like You, whether someone is much liberal or wealthy.

It is clear that this supplication of Jesus (peace be upon Him) was for providing facility to the companions so that they may thank Allah Almighty and obey His Commands whole the time.

Mention concerning Jesus

Surah MAAA-‘IDAH (The Table Spread) – Chapter – 5)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

Many misconceptions have been imagined by the people about the Messenger Jesus (peace be upon Him), but all those misunderstandings can be dispelled, if this section of Holy Qur’aan is considered thoughtfully. At first, He (peace be upon Him) was born contrary to the fashion and the people do not understand it that any person can be created even without father. The Jews calumniated Mary (God forbid), Mother of Jesus (peace be upon Them). Some people tried to prove Her marriage. Likewise, different people have different opinions regarding Jesus (peace be upon Him), even that some of them are ready to prove His (peace be upon Him) grave also.

Some people hesitate to have belief in His (peace be upon Him) miracles. They are unable to understand that how a mankind can heal incurable diseases as clear-sighted to the blind born, healthy to the leper etc.? His (peace be upon Him) all virtues have been explained very clearly in this section. Everyone will understand certainly on the Day of Resurrection, but entire false thoughts can be corrected even in this life if anyone meditates in it deeply.

All doubts regarding Jesus Christ (peace be upon Him) have been cleared in only one sentence i.e. ‘Ay-yattuka  bi-Ruuhil-Qudus (I strengthened Thee with the Holy Spirit). The root of His all specialties comes out from this sentence. It is important to understand properly at first that the mankind is a collection of two separate elements. One is body and the other is soul. The body is a machine. The machine is made by putting different parts in order. When it is ready for functioning, it cannot work, until the steam (power) does not inter in to it. Just like this, there is a power to operate the machine of human body. As we cannot operate the self-made machines without electricity, steam or any other power, in the same way, the machine of human body is useless without its power i.e. soul. That power has a magazine like the electricity or the steam has magazine.

The name of soul’s magazine is Ruuhul Qudus (the Holy Spirit). There is a Descent of the same soul, Who brings the power of the Holy Spirit to the body. He has been named as Gabriel, and the conveying the soul is called puffing of the soul. As per common rule, the material of the machine of human body is obtained by the intercourse of father and mother, and is prepared in the womb of mother. But this rule was broken twice. Once at that time when Allah Almighty created Adam (peace be upon Him), the father of entire humankind, and secondly, at the time of the birth of Jesus (peace be upon Him).

Adam (peace be upon Him) had neither father, nor mother. At the second time, during Jesus (peace be upon Him), the material of father’s part was taken from the Divine Power of Allah Almighty. Gabriel (peace be upon Him) puffed the soul. This soul was so much powerful that Jesus (peace be upon Him) used to cause to run the soul in the self-made form of clay. Like this, He (peace be upon Him) used to heal the patients with this soul. Everyone can understand easily all the matters relating to Jesus (peace be upon Him) after considering thoughtfully. It is surprising upon them who believe in the power of electricity, but do not believe in the Power of the Soul.
