Commentary

It was described in the previous verse: Allah Almighty is The Witness over My {Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him)} purity/truth. And the biggest source of Allah’s recognition is Holy Qur’aan, introducing the competitive Word like which, the entire people have been rendered helpless. If, in the presence of so much big Witness (Qur’aan), you people will continue ascribing plurality to Allah Almighty, then no wise person will accompany you. And I have come only to spread the teachings of Holy Qur’aan. I can never witness your misconception.

There is a straight forward acceptance in this verse, by denying from giving evidence of plurality and infidelity that Allah (God) Almighty is only One. Allah Almighty commands: Say! He is only One God. Lo! I am clear of that which ye associate with Him. Whether you believe or disbelieve, only it is the truth.

There can be No other Worshipped except Allah Almighty. And the matter, that; you use to make partners with Allah Almighty and do not accept His Unity, I do not have any concern with it. My heart hates this deed and I proclaim My (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) open and fair displeasure from your such act (ascribing any partner with Allah Almighty).

The idolaters used to say to the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him): Produce any witness on your Messenger-hood. We have observed by asking from them, whom God gave the Scripture also, but they have not given any evidence that You are a Messenger.

As answer to their question, the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) produced Allah Almighty as Witness over His Truth, which was discussed in the previous lesson, but the fact regarding not providing the evidence by the Jews and the Christians has been described in this verse.

Allah Almighty says: Those unto whom We gave the Scripture before this (Qur’aan), recognize Our Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) certainly as they recognize their own sons. Surely they have no any doubt that You are Allah’s Last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), because Glad Tidings and Tokens about You (Muhammad) have been mentioned very clearly in their Scriptures. And they have recognized the Last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) very well by reciting the Revelations into their own Scriptures. But their perversity and worldly covetousness have bent them upon being ignorant intentionally. This is the ill-disposition and greed, which will ruin and destroy them in future, so they do not give evidence of Messenger-hood before you.

Truly; the people, who have been prepared intentionally to harm themselves, how will they believe?

Commentary

It has been explained in the previous lessons that the idolaters said to Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him): If you are a Messenger, Who is your witness? Allah Almighty taught His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) this answer to their question: Say! Allah Almighty is Witness over my Truth. If being ignorant, they ask You: Who is Allah? And if they show carelessness from Our Revelations, then You should say to them: One such Powerful Portent exists before you, denial from which, is equal to the denial of one’s own existence. That Token is This “Holy Qur’aan”. Can you say that, this Word can be of any human being? It has invited you Itself: If you consider It the Word of any mankind, then it is a challenge for all human beings forever “make and show the word like Me (Holy Qur’aan)”, and it has claimed: If the entire people of the world try collectively to make any such book equal to the Holy Qur’aan, they will never be able to do so.

While it is not the Word of any human being, then it manifests that surely it would be the Word of that Person, Who Knows more than any mankind, and certainly He is Allah Almighty, and I, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) produce Him as My Witness.

The same meaning has been explained in this verse: My Witness is Allah Almighty and proof of Allah’s existence is This “Holy Qur’aan”. It is commanded: Unhesitatingly I produce Allah Almighty as My Witness because I have His Holy Word with Me (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him). And you know that this Holy Word cannot be of any other than Allah Almighty, because the entire human beings have been rendered helpless from producing any such Word like This. Now it is My duty that I should stand up with this Holy Word, Which Allah Almighty has revealed upon Me, and inform all of them including you, that it is the Truth, what has been written in it, and certainly that person will be ruined, who will go against it.

After so biggest Revelation and Evidence, will you even then continue to cram that Allah Almighty is not Worshiped alone, but there are some more worshipped? You will be responsible of your own, if you will not give up stupidity. However I shall never bear such witness.

Commentary

The aim of this Chapter is: To explain about Allah Almighty and His all Epithets, that is to say; He is One. He has neither any associate nor any partner. All creatures like animals, birds, beasts (of prey or other), cattle, demons, mankind, Angels, Prophets, Saints, Spiritual Guides and Messengers (peace be upon Them) etc. the entire creatures are His servants. None of them can do something without His Command. You should worship none but Him only. Ask or pray not for a boon from any creature, nor seek any other for help except Allah Almighty. In this regard, this Chapter (Surah) is an Explanation of Surah 1- ‘Al-Faatihah (The Opening) and Surah  112 - ‘Ikhlaas (The Unity). That, which has been described briefly in those both Chapters, has been explained clearly in this Chapter.

Every mention, every event and even that every sentence/verse of this Chapter keeps this aim in front that God Almighty is One. The entire Powers and Authorities are only of Him. And the entire things, whether those are biggest, are worthless before His Greatness and Magnificence.

It is commanded that Allah Almighty is the Omnipotent and Excelling over His slaves (all creatures). Whether a mankind has any greatest dignity, anyhow he is His servant. The Angels, Prophet Moses, Jesus and Muhammad (peace be upon Them) are also Servants of Allah Almighty and helpless before Him. He commands, and it is the only duty of the Servants to obey His Commands. They take just pride in being His Servants.

This Promise has been mentioned very clearly in 2nd Kalimah “The Word of Testimony” that “I bear witness that (there is) no god except Allah; One is He, no partner hath He, and I bear witness that Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) is His Servant and Messenger”. Think a little, then who can be greater than the Last Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), who turn away from being His servant? If someone says, “Who is witness of your this claim?” Ask him, “Who can be biggest witness in your opinion”? Common sense replies: That can be the Biggest Witness, Who is Aware and Knower of the reality of everything. And none has this excellence except Allah Almighty, so He is the Witness between Me and you.

Allah is the Omnipotent - (2)

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

It has been indicated in the verse that none can save from the pain and hardship of the Day of Resurrection save Allah Almighty. The person, who will be saved, will escape only due to the Mercy of Allah Almighty. This matter will be manifested upon everyone on the Day of Resurrection like the daylight, because when every person will see own close relatives, friends and familiars running away from oneself, will find them fallen into “every one for itself”. Kinsmen and women, friends and familiars, the teacher and the chief, the saint and the friends of God Almighty will answer that “We are unable to do something”.

The people will report every Prophet and Messenger (from Adam to Muhammad including Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David and Jesus (peace be upon Them) turn by turn, and request to help them. Every Prophet and Messenger (peace be upon Them) will reply them that they cannot help them. In the last, all of them will produce themselves in the court of the last Messenger, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him). He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) will produce Himself in the Court of Allah Almighty and request, “I may kindly be permitted to mediate and recommend the creature”.

On the Day of Resurrection, everyone will find entirely powerless and helpless to the whole like Angels, Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon Them), human beings, spiritual guides, Saints, lords and demons etc. (the entire creatures). But by mentioning about that Day, Holy Qur’aan desires to cause to engage the attention in this side that everybody should understand today, in this world, and believe that all above-mentioned are helpless and powerless save Allah Almighty, and don’t beg for anything from anyone. Believing in Allah Almighty means, “you are sure that none can do for you anything except Him”.

If the human being has such certain Belief in this world as he would be known on the Day of Resurrection, then it will be called “’Iimaan bil gayb” (Belief in the Unseen), that is to say; to consider only Allah Almighty as one’s Doer and Supplier of the wants, and to supplicate only before Him. The consequence of such belief will be that the Believer will be bestowed with the deliverance from the punishment.

It is commanded that trouble, pain, calamity, distress (the entire) is from the side of Allah Almighty. Neither has any person any power to hurt anyone but He, and nor anyone can remove any detriment without Him. In the same manner, ease, pleasure and goodness are also from His side. Neither anyone can cause to gain any other save His permission, and nor can fulfill any want, because everything is in His Power. Without Him, the whole are helpless and humble. But the stupid people of this time, ask His servants to help at the time of difficulty, leaving Allah Almighty. They have established many kinds of customs and traditions. They say, “the help, which we want from the Prophets (peace be upon Them) and the Saints (‘Awli-yaa’) (may Allah be merciful on Them) is for the purpose that none can climb on the roof without a stair. It is replied that obedience of the commands of Allah Almighty is its stair, and He has ordered that you should not call any other for help save Him.

Commentary

In the previous verses, Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) was addressed and commanded: Be the first to surrender unto Allah Almighty, and be not Thou (O Muhammad) of the idolaters. You should set up yourself as a model role of “God’s obedient and displeased from the belief in a plurality of God” by your behavior. And you should say to the people: I fear the retribution of an Awful Day (the Day of Resurrection), if I disobey my Lord.

The pattern of terrible doom has been described in such a manner in this verse, which will be suffered by the disbelievers on the Day of Resurrection, that dictation of any other than Holy Qur’aan cannot explain so much beautifully, and that, there is none helper in the calamity save Allah Almighty. So you should beg before Him, if you want anything. That, which you will obtain, will be with His Mercy. Everything is in His Power. No power has any other person that he may do something for you.

It is commanded that if someone has been entangled in the doom on the Day of Resurrection, it will be very difficult for him to come out from it. The punishment can be in the form of bodily pains, trouble, restlessness, distraction, perception of despair and helplessness, which will bring forth the soul at the stage of half-dead). During troubles, if someone exists to console, then the person in trouble feels some relief, but if there is none who may relieve therefrom save Allah Almighty, then you should consider thoughtfully about your confusions.

Commentary

Allah Almighty is Owner of the earth, the heavens and everything among them, and is Learned, Well-Informed and Protector of all things, so He looks after all of them. Everything is indigent of Him. Only He is, Who fulfills all requisites of the entire creatures. He has made incumbent upon Himself to be Merciful for all and bestow them according to everyone’s talents, whosoever prays for anything from Him.

In fact, everything uses to produce its proficiency and capacity before Him every time at every place and Allah Almighty listens to its secret request and knows that, which anything is deserved by whom?

Here, it should be known that everything remains engaged in supplication every time, but this supplication is not verbal. Moreover, it is at present i.e. its state desires any new thing at every time. Sometimes, the thing doesn’t know its condition itself, but Allah Almighty knows: what the condition of that thing desires at the spot. This supplication of the tongue of that existing time is accepted every moment. But the person or thing, which supplicates by its tongue, demands sometimes such a thing, which its condition does not desire because it does not know itself wholly. It is the reason that the verbal supplication is not accepted many times. Hence Allah Almighty is called The Hearer and The Knower. Can any other be chosen as Helper, leaving such Allah Almighty, Who accedes to the wishes of all, but does not have any desire Himself?

It is commanded in this verse that “My sense is telling me as well as it is also an Order of Allah Almighty that everything should bow only before Him. Therefore, first of all, I bow before Him in accord with His Commandment. Allah Almighty has said to me, “Bow before Allah Almighty leaving all things and never believe in any so called partner to Him, so that other people also begin to bow, observing You {O Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him)}. If I disobey My Lord Almighty, then certainly I will suffer the retribution of a Dreadful Day i.e. the Day of Resurrection. I fear very much from that Day.”

Commentary

It was described in the previous verse that everything in the heavens and in the earth and whatsoever is among them; belongs to Allah Almighty, and He is Alone Owner of the entire things without any partner.

In the verse being discussed today, the same matter has been commanded regarding the time that everything whatsoever exists in the night or the day (any time) belongs to Allah Almighty. By amalgamating both verses, it meant that everything with regard to any place and time (everything at every place and every time) belongs to Allah Almighty. That is to say; only He is the Possessor of entire things. There is neither any partner of Him in proprietary of anything at any place and at any time, and nor the claim of proprietary (of anything) by anyone is befitting. Neither anything goes out from His Hold due to change of place, nor does any difference come in His Proprietary and Ownership due to passage of time.

While Allah Almighty is Master, Owner, Possessor and Lord of all things, then only He is Provider of all creatures’ necessities, because it is the responsibility of the Owner to look after the things, which are in His control. It is compulsory for Him to be Aware of each condition of the entire.

It is clear proclamation in the verse that certainly Allah Almighty is the Hearer of all creatures and the Knower of the conditions of entire things completely. It has been explained in the Sayings of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) in this manner that He listens also to the sound of an ant’s feet, which is creeping slowly on a very smooth stone in any hole. And it is the
state of His Knowledge that He knows the measurement of the entire water of the oceans, weight of stones of the entire mountains, calculation of drops of the rain and number of leafs of the entire trees everything completely.

After explaining this, Allah Almighty addresses His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him): Ask them! Can I choose any protecting friend other than such Lord, Who listens to everyone and knows everything, Who created the heavens and the earth, Who provides all necessities, food and provision to every creature?

Neither Allah Almighty is needy of anything, nor anyone gives Him anything and nor anyone can give Him anything. He is the only One Originator of the heavens and the earth, Who provides food to His entire living creatures but is never fed by anyone.
