Deep thought in the verse - Quran Chapter 6 – 25b & 26 (Pt-7, Stg-2) (L-794) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 6 – 25b & 26 (Pt-7, Stg-2) (L-794) - درس قرآن

Deep thought in the verse

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

The verses and Chapters of Holy Qur’aan used to reveal during special and proper situations, explain and guide the Muslims suitably towards the straightway that in which situation, what they would have to do? The Muslims of that time used to bear in mind after hearing the Word of Allah Almighty and act upon Its Advice. Then the revealed verse or chapter was used to put at its proper place in the Holy Qur’aan, so that the Muslims, who would come after them, may get guidance in their own circumstances, which make to suit the circumstances of its time of revelation to do better for themselves, and act according to the commands and teachings of concerning verse. They should never do against the commands of Allah Almighty, mentioned in Holy Qur’aan and the Sayings of His Last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), otherwise, they will be punished just like those opponents, who were punished at that time.

The situation of that time, when this verse was revealed, was that; for twelve years the Messenger of Allah Almighty continued admonishing the people, caused to hear them Holy Qur’aan and described its commandments. At that time, the people of Makkah had been trying constantly, except those who embraced Islam, that: As far as it may be possible, we would have to press Islam, act ourselves against its teachings and enforce others to do so. A facsimile of the condition of those people, which was after the preaching of twelve years, has been explained in words, and kept in these verses of Holy Qur’aan. And the decision, which was caused to hear in respect of them, that also exists with it, so that the people of every time may be watchful and use to think deeply upon their own condition: Whether; is there not the same condition as it were at that time (during the time of revelation of this verse)? If it is, then they should correct it immediately, otherwise they will also be given the same punishment as those people were punished.

The condition of that time was that the people used to listen to the Holy Qur’aan and take it as a collection of useless fables of the old people, and prevent others from turning their attention towards it, and they used to hate personally its way. They also wanted to have firm hold on those habits which their ancestors had learned, and they used to say the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) at the time of joining Him: What have you made this false procedure? (Let’s flee to Allah). It is useless. These idols of us help us in every matter. How can we set them aside?

Holy Qur’aan informed the decision about them that they, the silly people, are making arrangements for their own destruction, and do not know that they will be ruined very soon. Since the next second year of the revelation of this verse, the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) was commanded to immigrate from Makkah to Madinah. Everyone knows, what happened with the Makkan people after that. They were disgraced in the world and slain, whereas, they still have to suffer the torment of the Day of Resurrection. Now we should think: What is the condition of today’s Muslims?

Commentary

Which story was started in the previous lesson, has been completed here. Their cleverness has increased to such extent that they meet the Muslims apparently, as though they want to show that, “we have no enmity with the Muslims, we meet and listen to them attentively. But those sayings are not able to be accepted. Those are fables and false stories only of old people”. Their coming unto the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) is also a trick, so that other people should think that they are trying their best to understand Islam. If their sayings were able to be accepted then they would have accepted them, whereas, absolutely their purpose was not to understand, but to oppose You (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him).

“When they go out after meeting with you (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) then they tell other people: Do not listen to these sayings, these are (let’s flee to Allah) useless sayings. And they keep their way entirely separate from and against Islam. These silly people do not understand that they are not harming Islam even a little by doing so. However, they are preparing destruction for themselves”.

It is commanded that their presumption has reached such level that they come to you for quarreling and acting like sensible people, these infidels show their opinion: Yes, we listened. It is nothing, otherwise, how could we leave it”? By saying so, they prevent other people from listening to the Messenger’s (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) sayings, and also they run away themselves too from Him. As though; they want to destroy the teachings of Holy Qur’aan by their word and deed, and are trying to remove Islam. But the consequence of it will be no other than that these ignorant will be destroyed at their own and Islam will bud and blossom in the world. So, it happened and their silliness was disclosed to the whole world.

Commentary

Circumstances of those people, who passed away before the Revelation of Holy Qur’aan and those, who were present at the time of Its Revelation, have been saved in It. But the purpose of collecting their circumstances is neither rejoicing and nor any amusement. Moreover, the actual aim is that we should learn a lesson from those collections, take from them warning and correct our deeds, so that we would be saved from those mishaps, which happened upon the earlier people due to their wicked deeds.

Only that part of previous circumstances has been taken in Holy Qur’aan which is useful for us as any advice. The behavior of some infidels of Makkah has been described in this verse. These were effectively great people of that place, and the spirit to maintain their old false custom had made a room in their hearts, because if that code of conduct was changed then they were afraid of losing their dignity by means of which they used to overpower others.

They used to consider that Islam and Its system was against their benefits. Therefore, they did dislike it very severely. They used to come unto the Messenger of Allah Almighty, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) and listen to Holy Qur’aan, but the love of their own established way of life and strong determination to keep up their magnificence used to let their hearts not effect. They could not hear anything save the plans of keeping their respect and dignity high, although they saw thousands of the tokens, were not ready to believe.

It is commanded in this verse, “O! Prophet (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him): And of them are some who listen unto Thee, but due to their evil days, We have placed upon their hearts veils, the words of flatterers have been stuffed in to their ears and there is a deafness in their ears, lest they should understand, And even if they saw every token; they would not believe therein; so much so that, when they come unto Thee {O Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him)} to argue with Thee, the disbelievers say: This is naught else than fables of the men of old. Observing their conditions, the Muslims should think: whether their condition will or not become as of those because of worldly brawls and poisoned joys.

Commentary

It was mentioned in the previous verse: We shall gather all of them together (on the Day of Resurrection), then We shall ask unto those who ascribed partners unto Allah (Almighty): Where are now those partners of your make-believe? Call them to help and save you from the punishment of your wicked deeds today.

It has been described in this verse that they will become insensible due to the question of Allah Almighty and will be unable to reply.

They used to pretend, deceive, behave deceitfully, cheat, exercise cunning and use tricks in the world. On that Day, neither any trick nor contention will be useful and nor any pretense. Then they will have nothing to say save: By Allah, our Lord, we never were idolaters. We did never use to ascribe any partner to Allah. We used to believe in Allah Almighty only as our Worshipped and we had no relation with anyone else.

See how they have been confounded that they swore falsely and concocted lie quickly. No cleverness did strike them beside this. Their all impostures, contentions and plans were failed there and they became the criminals of false swearing. So there is no doubt that they are wrongdoers, however they caused to increase their crimes due to false swearing.

It is commanded that they will lose their sense after hearing this question and they will have nothing to say as an answer to the above question save this contention that they will swear falsely to prove that they were not wrongdoers/idolaters.

They will say: By Allah, our Lord, we never were idolaters. We did never believe in any other Worshipped but Allah. This declaration made by them upon oath will be a lie and against the circumstances. Due to this reason, their life will be entangled more in the calamity.

At the end, it is commanded: See how they are ensnaring their life in further misfortune by false swearing. The things, which they used to devise in the world, all of them have run away today.

O Muslims! Look within yourselves

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

Let’s consider thoughtfully and ascertain once again in this lesson on the verses, we discussed in the previous lesson. A rule has been described in the verses, which can never be broken. That rule is: the consequence of the oppressor will never be good. The word “wrongdoer” (tyrant) is very famous. He is called a wrongdoer, who tyrannizes. Tyranny means either to do such an act or to say such words, which hurt either oneself or someone else, or it lets other people to make wrong assumptions about anyone. The meaning of “the consequence will never be good” is that the tyrant is disgraced and humiliated even in the world, and whether he dwells in a good state for a few days in the beginning, but at last, he is ruined and thrown away. If he is saved in the world someway, after death he will undergo severe torment and restlessness. He dies in such a condition that the people begin to hate him.

The worst form of the tyranny is that someone commits such an act or talks in such manner, due to which either he becomes an arrogant of Allah Almighty, or which causes to spread false notions about Allah Almighty among the people, or which becomes cause of contempt in respect of either any Prophet/Messenger (peace be upon Him), or Holy Qur’aan, or Islam. In the group of tyranny – ascribing plurality to Allah Almighty, claim of Prophet-hood after the last Messenger, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), against the principles of Islam interpretation of Holy Qur’aan as one’s mind desires, denial of Hadith {Sayings of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him)} and all matters of this type come.

In the beginning of Islam, the tyranny was customary in two forms i.e. calling the Prophet (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) a liar and considering the Holy Qur’aan a collection of some common tales and stories, and not giving any importance to Its Commands. In the previous lesson, these both forms of wrongdoing were discussed, though it is the Cause of this verse’s Revelation.

The Formula of this verse will be applied during every era for every form of tyranny. Every tyrant will suffer from the same punishment, which has been described in this verse. The form of decision will also be the same, which has been cleared here. That is to say; whosoever will be disgraced and failed at the end, will be a tyrant, and whosoever will be rewarded and succeeded, will be known that he was not a tyrant.

The Muslims should reconsider their condition after reciting this verse, “Wherever are they not involved in any form of tyranny? Whether are they not saying such words or doing such acts due to which they would have been disgracing either Allah Almighty, or His Prophet (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), or Holy Qur’aan, or Islam? (Allaah forbid) Wherever our deeds not as are, there is a fear of insult in respect of all above? If it is true, then we are also wrongdoers and greater tyrants, and if the prescribed punishment of tyrants is not applied on us today, then there is a threat of it tomorrow (on the Day of Resurrection).

That has never been proved as wrong, which the Holy Qir’aan has commanded. There is no need of going in detail, we should think, confessing and being ashamed of our faults that if a Muslim is either a drunkard, gambler, thief, robber, fornicator, dishonest, rascal, greedy of wealth, killer, immoral, arrogant or fond of talking bawdy, then at least, is he not insulting and defaming Islam?

Commentary

It was described in the previous verse: The Word of Allah Almighty is Itself Witness over Oneness of Allah Almighty. Then it was explained that the Jews and the Christians recognize well that Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) is a True Messenger of Allah Almighty and that He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) can never tell a lie.

By another argument, these both matters have been proved in this verse. That can be summarized as, if Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) is a liar in His claim of Prophet-hood, then He calumniates against Allah Almighty. Therefore, on the basis of this reason, He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) is a wrongdoer (Let us flee to Allah).

On the other side, those people, who do not believe in Holy Qur’aan and ascribe partners unto Allah Almighty, they accuse the greatest and clear Revelations of Allah Almighty falsely. So they are greater wrongdoers. And there is a prescribed rule for the wrongdoers that they do not succeed at the end.

Now the decision that either Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) is a wrongdoer (Let us flee to Allah) or these disbelievers, will be known by the fact that who succeeds in the last. So, the opponents observed “who failed” and it was clear that Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) succeeded, He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) was True, not a wrongdoer. And His opponents who failed were wrongdoers and liars.

It was the decision of the world. The real Day of the Decision (the Day of Resurrection) is near to come. On that Day, Allah Almighty will gather and ask the entire wrongdoers and sinners, “Where are (now) those partners of your make-believe?”

It is commanded that two people are greater wrongdoers:

1.    The person, who slanders such a lie against Allah Almighty, which has been revealed by Him, that is to say; claims falsely of prophet-hood.

2.    He, who denies and falsifies His clear Revelations and ascribes partners (unto Allah Almighty).

And there is a prescribed rule for the wrongdoers that they fail at the end. The people saw in the world that Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) succeeded and His opponents failed, because He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) was True and His opponents were liars.

Even on the Day of Resurrection, the idolaters will be embarrassed by saying: Request them today, whom you used to ascribe partners of Allah Almighty in the world and see, “How much they can help you, otherwise, suffer the punishment of your wrongdoings.

Quran Chapter 6 – 19c & 20 (Pt-7, Stg-2) (L-788) - درس قرآن

Failure of Muslims

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

The aim of the Revelation of Holy Qur’aan has been described very clearly in the previous verses. It has been made incumbent upon the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) and care of Him, upon the entire Muslim nation, that they should keep this object in front and fulfill it, as it appears from the meaning of above-mentioned verse.

It has been mentioned in the previous verse: The Holy Qur’aan has been inspired upon Muhammad, the Last Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) that the people, who exist at the spot, should be warned by this source (Holy Qur’aan) that there is a very severe danger in either opposing it or not drawing proper attention towards it. And it is the duty of all Muslims to manifest this subject (not only these people, who are present, but by means of them, also of those human beings, whom this Holy Qur’aan reaches until the Day of Resurrection.

It is open that this Holy Word will reach up to more people even after the departure of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him). At that time, the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) will not grace the world with His presence. So this duty will rest upon His nation; that they should inform the people about the threat of not acting upon the commands, mentioned in Holy Qur’aan. And they should explain its meaning in such a manner that nobody would have any objection that “we were not taught like this, otherwise we would have thought on its commandments, and acted upon them”.

It is known clearly from this verse that Muhammad is the last Prophet and Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) and the Holy Qur’aan is the Last Scripture, which was revealed in the world. No inspiration will be revealed upon anyone after it. It is why that it has been revealed: “Allah is Witness between me and you. And this Qur’aan hath been inspired in me, that I may warn therewith you and whomsoever it may reach” (with effect from His time to the Day of Resurrection): verse 19a. it is Your and Your nation’s duty after You (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) to teach all of them.

The Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) performed His duty in such a manner that He caused to hear the people by reciting the Holy Qur’aan and guided: You should continue your effort also to deliver it up to other people like Me. He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) was not satisfied to cause to hear only but explained the meanings of Holy Qur’aan. And He acted upon it with such a practice that He set the importance of its commands in the hearts of the people properly.

There are two parts of this Duty:

1.    Learning the words of Holy Qur’aan own by heart and conveying them up to other people, and as the Messenger of Allah Almighty acted upon it and that, what He commanded to cause to know its meanings, which are called Hadith (Sayings of the Messenger), keep it also safe and cause to reach others.

2.    Informing the human beings about its importance and necessity for the human life.

The Muslims performed first part of the duty to some extent, but sorry to say! Duty of the second part could not be performed properly as it needed. The value of any practical program, as it is Holy Qur’aan, can remain established, when it will be respected personally and properly. To advice others, but not to follow personally, makes the advice useless. With which mouth I say that Islam has the best way of life, whereas I don’t act upon it strictly myself? Verbally I praise it very much, but when the time for action comes, I learn from others “how to dwell” and adopt their ways of living. Observe nowadays, as much as fun and play, immodesty and obscenity, wickedness and immorality, deceit and treachery is customary in others, that is, but more than them is customary in the Muslims.
