Allah destroys none arbitrarily

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim. 
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

 ذَٰلِكَ أَن لَّمْ يَكُن رَّبُّكَ مُهْلِكَ ٱلْقُرَىٰ بِظُلْمٍ وَأَهْلُهَا غَٰفِلُونَ 131

  وَلِكُلٍّ دَرَجَٰتٌمِّمَّا عَمِلُوا۟ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِغَٰفِلٍ عَمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ 132

131.  This is because thy Lord destroeth not the townships arbitrarily while their people are unconscious (of the wrong they do). 132.  And for all there are ranks in accordance with their doings. And thy Lord is not Unaware of what they do.

131.  Zaalika  ‘allam  yakur-Rabbuka  muhlikal-quraa  bi-zulminw-wa  ‘ahlu-haa  gaafi-luun. 132.  Wa  li-kullin-  darajaa-tum-mimmaa  ‘amiluu.  Wa  maa  Rabbuka  bi-gaa-filin  ‘ammaa  ya’-maluun.

Commentary

Muhlika – (the Remover, that, who destroys), this word is “the subject” from ‘ahlaak, derived from halaak. Halaak means destruction, ruin. ‘Ahlaak means “to destroy, to annihilate, to ruin”.

Zulm – (oppression, tyranny), this word comes again and again in the Holy Qur’an and its meaning has already been explained. According to Arabic language, it is used for such a work, which is not suitable and which has any harm either for oneself or for any other. The Way, which Allah Almighty has established for the human being in the world, making even a little change in it, is zulm.

There are many degrees of the zulm. The words - Zaalim and Mazluum have been made from it too, which aims the tyrant and the oppressed respectively. Moreover, an individual can tyrannize himself also. In this form that individual is the tyrant and the oppressed of himself.

It is commanded that Allah Almighty has already established a series to warn the humankind about the forthcoming troubles during future by sending His Messengers (peace be upon Them), because He does not destroy the townships arbitrarily as a punishment while their people are unconscious of the wrong, they do.

At first, He (Allah Almighty) makes it clear that there is only One Straight Path for the humankind. Falling back a little from that Way is tyranny and its consequence is destruction and ruin, either that would be in the world or in the Hereafter, or in the both. To manifest it, the Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon Them) were sent by Allah Almighty in the world from time to time. The Messenger (peace be upon Him) used to explain this Way properly by His tongue and show the people by acting upon it himself. When, all it is done then the human being is provided chance that he should act according to it also. After that, the actions and deeds of the mankind are judged and their dignities are determined in accordance with such deeds.

The humankind should not consider that there is no one to ask him, whether he does good works or commits evil deeds. Allah Almighty is Aware very well of his entire deeds. Nothing is hidden from Him. The human being will be awarded or rewarded even for his very little deeds too. He should do thoughtfully, whatever he is going to do and should never get out of the guidance of Holy Qur’an.

Every verse of the Holy Qur’an contains a Message for us. Neither the right of that verse is paid until we understand its Message thoroughly, and nor there is any hope of our worldly, as well as the next-worldly life’s correction (the life of the Hereafter). First of all, we should bear this matter deeply in mind that we have been given the life of this world only to dress our life of the Hereafter.

It is never the purpose of this life that everyone would have to begin collecting the goods of this world. Every time the wish that all good things should be in one’s possession, and to say others, “Beware! Do not look at me, otherwise; I have collected so much power and strength that I can drive your eyes out”.

                                                      

Holy Qur’an commands: Behold! You should not forget the Day of Resurrection by falling in the snares of the world. Honor and dignity, comfort and ease, wealth and authority of this world – all such things are accidental. After this, another life will begin and in that life, only those people will acquire comfort and peace, who do not desire wealth, respect and dignity of this world, and do not spread persecution, dispute, disturbance and mischief due to their stubbornness and intransigence. 

Noble Qur’an is leading openly: You should manage your life in such a way in this world that career of everyone together is arranged, every human being may get food, clothes, accommodation for living, household goods and all necessary things easily. None should hoard anything, which is necessity of someone else. That person, whosoever is either doing so, or encouraging such people, who do so, he learnt nothing from Holy Qur’an.

If those people, who believe in it, have been gathering worldly wealth and trying to get dignity of this world, then they should understand that they do not know the way of learning the teachings of Holy Qur’an. And like others, this world has entrapped them also in the deception. They should meditate in this verse and understand that, what they should do themselves and which method of living should be taught to other people.

It has been mentioned clearly in this verse that the entire secrets will be opened on the Day of Resurrection. Whole of the human beings and the jinn (demons) will confess without hesitation that they had been entangled in useless matters by giving up the advantageous things. At that time, they will be reproached and due to this reproof, which doom will suffer their hearts, that will be very severe torment for their life.

There is only one way to save oneself from that torment, which is:

1.    Believe in Allah Almighty and His last Prophet (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him).

2.    Make the verses of Holy Qur’an “A complete Code of Deeds” for your life.

3.    Admit the Truth regarding the life in the Hereafter and be prepared in this world to escape from the difficulties of that Day.

4.    Nothing is kept in the apparent dignity, useless noise, pump and show for a little time (of this life). Do not be deceived from it

5.    Keep examined yourself whether have you not involved in any calamity of the infidelity?

These entire matters are required to be performed today i.e. in the life of this world, otherwise; when your eyes will be opened after death in the Hereafter, there will be nothing other than distress and pain in your luck.

 يَٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ أَلَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ رُسُلٌ مِّنكُمْ يَقُصُّونَ عَلَيْكُمْ ءَايَٰتِى وَيُنذِرُونَكُمْ لِقَآءَ يَوْمِكُمْ هَٰذَا قَالُوا۟ شَهِدْنَا عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِنَا وَغَرَّتْهُمُٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَشَهِدُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ كَٰفِرِينَ 130

130.  O ye assembly of the jinn and humankind! Came there not unto you Messengers of your own who recounted unto you My tokens and warned you of the meeting of this your Day? They will say: We testify against ourselves and the life of the world beguiled them, and they testify against themselves that they were disbelievers.

130.  Yaa  ma’-sharal-jinni  wal-‘insi  ‘alam  ya’-tikum  Rusulum-minkum  yaqus-suuna  ‘alaykum  ‘AayaaTii  wa  Yunzi-ruunakum  liqaaa-‘a  Yawmikum  haazaa.  Qaaluu  sha-hidnaa  ‘alaaa  ‘anfu-sinaa  wa  garrat-humul-hayaatud-dunyaa  wa  sha-hiduu  ‘alaaa  ‘anfu-sihim  ‘annahum  kaanuu  Kaafiriin.

Commentary

Yaqus-suuna – (they used to describe, recounted), it has been derived from the word Qasas, which means “to recount, to describe”. Another form of it is Qissah, which means “a story, a tale and a fable”.

Sha-hidnaa – (we testified, said and described), it is past tense, which has been made from Shahaadat. Shahaadat means “to say clearly and openly about a thing or matter, which has been known and seen certainly. The word sha-hiduu belongs to the same also.

Garrat – (beguiled), it is past tense and has been derived from the word Garuur. Garuur means “a deceit, to cheat, to seduce and to mislead”. That person, who has been seduced, is called Magruur. This famous word has been derived from the same.

Liqaaa-‘a – the meaning of this word is “meeting”, its origin is “l-q-ii. Famous word is Mulaaqaat, which means “to come before any person or thing and to meet with it.

It was known from the previous verses that on the Day of Resurrection, whole the reality will be exposed and at that time, the entire people will believe and consider that – this belief will be of use for them, but only that belief will be useful which would have been embraced in this world by recognizing the Messengers of Allah Almighty (peace be upon Him) with their sense, reciting His Revelations and observing His Tokens.  

It is commanded that in the Hereafter, the jinn and the humankind will be addressed and asked! Did Our Messengers (peace be upon Them) not come unto you, who were of your own and did they not caused to hear you Our Revelations and did they not frighten you from the meeting of the Day of Today? The entire assembly of the people will answer: Yes! Today our eyes have been opened and we are looking very clearly that we erred in the world cruelly. And due to not obeying the Messengers (peace be upon Them), we have been entangled Today in a biggest disaster at our own.

Although they will say on that Day, which we have described above, but today, this world has deceived them. They have fallen in the nonsensical deeds of this world.

وَيَوْمَيَحْشُرُهُمْ جَمِيعًا يَٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ قَدِ ٱسْتَكْثَرْتُم مِّنَ ٱلْإِنسِ وَقَالَ أَوْلِيَآؤُهُم مِّنَ ٱلْإِنسِ رَبَّنَا ٱسْتَمْتَعَ بَعْضُنَا بِبَعْضٍ وَبَلَغْنَآ أَجَلَنَا ٱلَّذِىٓ أَجَّلْتَ لَنَاقَالَ ٱلنَّارُ مَثْوَىٰكُمْ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ 128

وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُوَلِّى بَعْضَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ بَعْضًۢا بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ 129

128b.  He will say: Fire is your home abide therein for ever, save him whom Allah willeth (to deliver). Lo! Thy Lord is Wise, Aware. 129.  And thus We let some of the wrongdoers have power over others because of what they are wont to earn.

128b.  Qaalan-Naaru  mas-waakum  khaalidiina  fiihaaa  ‘illaa  maa  shaaa-‘Allaah.  ‘Inna  RabbaKa  Hakiimun  ‘Aliim. 129.  Wa  kazaalika  Nuwallii  ba’-zaz-zaalimiina  ba’-zam-  bimaa  kaanuu  yak-sibuun.

Commentary

We recited in the previous verse that entire human beings and their seducers {the jinn (the devils, demons etc.)} will be gathered before Allah Almighty on the Day of Resurrection. The devils will be commanded: You deceived many of the humankind. Hereupon, those people, who were seduced by Satan and had become his slaves, will say to save themselves: Our Lord! We did neither use to worship them and nor were their slaves. However, we had a cursive relationship mutually together. We used to help one another, which was only till death and finished after that.

They would have to answer this wrongfully because at that time, the whole reality will be enlightened upon them and they will recognize it clearly that Today (on the Doomsday), certainly those individuals will be punished very severely, who denied the Unity of God Almighty, they will not have any excuse but telling shattered lies, whereas Allah Almighty knows the fact about everyone. Any wrong thing cannot be emphasized before Him.

After hearing their infirm talks, Allah Almighty will reply them: Fire of Hell is the abode of all those people who seduced and who were misled. You will have to abide therein forever. Neither will it be in your power to come out from the Hell and nor anybody will be able to help you coming out. Your gods, of whom you used to worship, for whom you used to offer the prayer, tribute, sacrifice and other offerings, they all will hang down their heads being ashamed. No one from them will be of use even a little. Only Allah Almighty will have Power and it will be shown plainly to you that you had to accept it during your life in the world. That, in which you believe Today (Hereafter) under compulsion, it is not to have belief. You cannot accept other than it Today because the whole works depend on the Mercy and kindness of Allah Almighty, and any other; whether he is most powerful, can do nothing totally. And it is the actual matter that everything depends on His Will, Graciousness and Favor. Any other has neither any power nor control over anything.

Then it is commanded: As you heard the condition of the devils, their disciples and adherents, in the same manner, We shall gather the wrongdoers together and throw all of them in the Fire of the Hell, because their deeds deserve it and it is very punishment for them. It is known from this verse that those entire persons, either who commit evil or who believe in a plurality of God Almighty (polytheists), mutually belong to one community and they will get together in the Hell.

وَيَوْمَيَحْشُرُهُمْ جَمِيعًا يَٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ قَدِ ٱسْتَكْثَرْتُم مِّنَ ٱلْإِنسِ وَقَالَ أَوْلِيَآؤُهُم مِّنَ ٱلْإِنسِ رَبَّنَا ٱسْتَمْتَعَ بَعْضُنَا بِبَعْضٍ وَبَلَغْنَآ أَجَلَنَا ٱلَّذِىٓ أَجَّلْتَ لَنَاقَالَ ٱلنَّارُ مَثْوَىٰكُمْ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ 128

128a.  And the Day when He will gather them together (He will say): O ye assembly of the jinn! Many of humankind did ye seduce. And their adherents among humankind will say: Our Lord! We enjoyed one another, but now we have arrived at the appointed term which Thou appointed for us.

128a.  Wa  Yawma  Yah-shuru-hum  jamii-‘aa;  yaa-ma’-sharal-jinni  qadis-taksartum-  minal-‘ins.  Wa  qaala  ‘aw-liyaaa-‘uhum-minal-‘insi  Rabbanas-tamta-‘a  ba’-zunaa  bi-ba’-zinw-wa  balagnaa  ‘ajala  nallaziii  ‘ajjalTa  lanaa.

Commentary

‘As-taksartum – (you seduced many people), it is a past tense. Its origin is ‘istaksaar, which has been made from the word kasratun. Kasratun means excess and majority. ‘Istaksaar will be meant as “getting maximum portion and more things to order”.

‘As-tamta-‘a – (enjoyed –reaped advantage), it is past tense also, which is from the word ‘astamtaaa’ and it has been derived from mataaa’. Mataaa’ means – any useful and beneficial thing, wealth and property, goods and equipment etc. ‘Astamtaaa’ means “to gather wealth and possessions in abundance and to reap advantage from it.

‘Ajala – it means “appointed term and the whole period too”. Here it aims “the death which arrives at its prescribed time”. ‘AjjalTa – (the time You appointed), made from the word taajiil, Taajiil has been derived from the word ‘ajal. ‘Ajal means “to appoint the term”.

It was described in the previous verses that maximum people choose the wrong way, which is chosen always by Satan’s power of deceiving, who is inbred and old enemy of the human being. Allah Almighty has loosened him (the Devil), but saying at the spot to him: You will be unable to seduce the servants of Mine. It was commanded in the previous verse that Walii (the Protecting Friend) of Good people is Allah Almighty. Condition of the evildoers has been explained in this verse.   

It is commanded that a Day will come when the entire humankind and the jinn (the devils, the demons) will be gathered before Allah Almighty. The devils will be addressed before the mankind: You plundered much in the world and made many people yours obedient and servants. A guilty conscience needs no accuser. The slaves of the devils will speak at their own: Neither were we their slaves and nor used to worship them. By chance; sometimes, we used to obey their commands and sometimes they used to obey us. Like this we used to help one another. Even the death entrapped us and the period You appointed for our living in the world, was finished. The only aim to ask from the devils was that the mankind should answer. We shall know their reply in the next lesson.

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

وَهَٰذَاصِرَٰطُ رَبِّكَ مُسْتَقِيمًا قَدْ فَصَّلْنَا ٱلْءَايَٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَذَّكَّرُونَ 126

 لَهُمْ دَارُ ٱلسَّلَٰمِ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ وَهُوَ وَلِيُّهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ 127

126.  This is the path of Thy Lord, a Straight Path. We have detailed Our Revelations for a people who take heed. 127.  for them is the Abode of Peace with their Lord and He will be their Protecting Friend because of what they used to do.

126.  Wa  haazaa  Siraatu  Rabbika  Musta-qiimaa.  Qad  fassalNal-‘Aayaati  li-qaw-miny-yazzak-karuun.    127.  Lahum  Daarus-Salaami  ‘inda  Rabbihim  wa Huwa  Waliyyu-hum-  bimaa  kaanuu  ya’-maluun.

Commentary

Yazzak-karuuna – (they take heed), actually participle verb of this word is yatazak-karuuna, origin of which is tazakkara and has been made from zikr. Zikr means “to remember, to mention, whether that is spoken by tongue or remembered in the heart. Tazakkara means “thinking, getting advice”.

Daarus-Salaami – these are two separate words – Daar and ‘As-Salaam. Daar means – any place of dwelling and ‘As-Salaam means – peace, comfort, ease, facility. So the meanings of Daarus-Salaami are – the Abode of Peace, it is also the name of the Heavens, the Paradise.

Waliyyun – (the Protecting Friend), it is an adjective. One form of this word is Wilaayat too. The meaning of the both words is nearness. Waliyyun means near and close relative, supporter, friend, companion and Lord. In short, a person, who has very close relation with any other, is his Walii. That person is considered best; whose Walii is Allah Almighty.

We knew earlier that some people are of the crooked nature and some are noble. Allah Almighty makes the bosom miserly of the cross-tempered people. The truth does not find place in their heart, whereas, the bosom of the good-natured person is expanded and his spirit is generous. His heart accepts the truth and straight talk quickly.

It has been described in this verse that temperament of which person has been made according to which worldly format, and whose adventure has become like which, either Allah Almighty guides him towards the Straight Path according to that, or pushes him in the pit of error in accordance with his nature and deeds.

It is commanded: That, what has been revealed in the Holy Qur’an and O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him)! That, which You are causing to learn them; is Your Lord’s appointed Straight Path, which will carry the mankind to his Destination. Those people, who will follow these Instructions, will reach such place, where they will get Deliverance and Peace from all disputes.     

For such people, the entire blessings of the Paradise and the Abode of Peace are ready with their Lord Almighty. Being closer to them, He will be their Protecting Friend and Supporter in retaliation of gripping up their loins to forsake the worldly wishes and obeying the Commands of their Creator.

فَمَن يُرِدِ ٱللَّهُ أَن يَهْدِيَهُۥ يَشْرَحْ صَدْرَهُۥلِلْإِسْلَٰمِ وَمَن يُرِدْ أَن يُضِلَّهُۥ يَجْعَلْ صَدْرَهُۥ ضَيِّقًا حَرَجًا كَأَنَّمَا يَصَّعَّدُ فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَذَٰلِكَ يَجْعَلُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلرِّجْسَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ 125

125.  Thus whomsoever it is Allah’s Will to guide, He expandeth his bosom unto the Surrender, and whomsoever it is His Will to send astray, He maketh his bosom closed and narrow as if he were engaged in sheer ascent in the sky. Thus Allah layeth ignominy upon those who believe not.

125.  Fa-many-YuriDillaahu  ‘any-yahdi-yaHuu  yash-rah-  sadrahuu  lil-‘Islaam.  Wa  many-Yurid  ‘any-yuzil-lahuu  yaj-‘al  sadraHuu  zay-yiqan  harajan  ka-‘annamaa  yassa’-‘adu  fis-samaaa’.  Kazaalika  yaj-‘alUllaahur-rijsa  ‘alal-laziina  laa  yu’-minuun.

Commentary

Zay-yiqan – it is an adjective, which has been derived from the word zayaqa. Zayaqa means “narrow, vexation”.

Harajan – (closed), it is a noun which means - such thick and close bushes and under-wood, in which no one can penetrate. Here it aims – pressed, much close.

Yassa’-‘adu – it is a tense of participle, origin of which is tasa’-‘ud (actually it was yatasa’-‘ad). Singular of this word is sa’-‘uud, which means – to climb over. Tasa’-‘ud means “to climb pushing oneself by force”.

Rijsun – (something unclean, curse, devil, impure, unchaste), here it aims – the curse in the world and ignominy in the Hereafter, that is to say; the curse of the both worlds (during life time and after death).  

The temperament and nature of some people in the world desire to move perverse always, whereas, there are some such people, who recognize the straight path very soon. Allah Almighty has set this Rule that the individual, who goes straight forward, is led and guided properly, and who goes astray, about him Allah Almighty says: We caused to stray him and turned from the Straight Path.

It is commanded that the people, who are good inherently, it must be understood that Allah’s intention is to direct them towards the Straight Path, and to whom Allah Almighty desires to guide, opens his bosom. Resultantly, his bosom accepts the truth very soon.

On the contrary, the person, who is inherently refractory and argues without any ostensible reason, Allah Almighty sets his bosom closed, and then his heart begins to be confused from the true sayings. These people feel too much perturbation and perplexity, as though, they have to climb the height of the sky pushing themselves with force. Although, the mountains have some places to foothold, whereas they have to climb straight upper direction without any support under compulsion and with forced labor. After that, Allah Almighty commands: Similarly, We entrap those people in plagues and calamities in the both worlds, who run away from the Belief.
