Quran Chapter 9 – 43 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1192) - درس قرآن

Hidden thoughts of Hypocrites

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

43.  Allah forgive thee (O Muhammad)! Wherefor didst thou grant them leave ere those who told the truth were manifest to thee and thou didst know the liars?
43.  ‘AfAllaahu  ‘ank.  Lima  ‘a-zinta  lahum  hattaa  yata-bayyana  lakal-laziina  sadaquu  wa  ta’-lamal-kaazibiin.

Commentary

‘Afaa – (forgive), this word is from ‘afawun‘afawun means “to forgive”. But when talking with one another, the people use this word for supplication in favor of every other person, at that time, it is meant as “kindness and mercy. The meanings of “God forgive you” are taken in the same sense, which is of “God bless you”. Here, ‘AfAllaahu  ‘ank has been used in the same way as we say usually in our conversion YarhamukAllaah or RahimakAllaah to everyone.

It was described in the previous verses that some people whose beliefs are incorrect, they participate in easy tasks fondly, in which, with a little work, they hope that they would obtain much wealth. But they desert their companions in passing through the difficult paths and undergoing hard labors. In this verse, the circumstances of such Hypocrites have been explained.

It is commanded that these cunning people have decided that they would not partake in the Battle of Tabuuk. But they desire to show that they are not participating, by taking permission from You {O Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him)}, based on any strong excuse. You grant them permission considering that they are speaking the truth. May God Almighty forgive you. They would not have participated if you had not granted them permission. However, it was beneficial if you had not permitted them, so that their secret would have been betrayed, and they were proved as disobedient and liars. And they could never get themselves counted in the true and obedient people. And the Muslims would have known openly that “evading on very little matters is a sign of hypocrisy”.

The Hypocrites used to come unto the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) and say: We would have participated in this Battle but now we are sorry, we cannot participate under such and such situations because of so and so reasons. The Messenger of God Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) used to accept their excuses, considering that it is equal if they participate or otherwise, and used to grant them leave to stay at home.

It has been described in this verse that “If you had not granted them permission then it would be distinguished between the liars and the true. There is no reproof in it, but the aim is to disclose in courteous words, the inner wickedness of the Hypocrites, with which the Hypocrites may also understand that their trick has not been hidden. The entire people know them due to their wicked deeds.

Tricks of Hypocrites

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

42.  Had it been a near adventure and an easy journey they had followed thee, but the distance seemed too far for them. And will they swear by Allah (saying): If we had been able we would surely have set out with you. They destroy their souls, and Allah knoweth that they verily are liars.
42.  Law  kaana  ‘arazan-  qarii-banw-wa  safaran-  qaasidal-lattaba-‘uuka  wa  laakim-ba-‘udat  ‘alay-himush-shuqqah.  Wa  sayahli-fuuna  BIllaahi  la-wista-ta’-naa  la-kharajnaa  ma-‘akum.  Yuhli-kuuna  ‘anfusa-hum.  Wallaahu  ya’-lamu  ‘innahum  la-kaazibuun.

Commentary

‘Araza – (an adventure, spoils of war), this word has been used earlier. ‘Araza means every kind of goods and wealth etc. Here it aims the spoils of the Battle.

Qaasidan – (easy, comfortable, light), this word is a subject from the word qasadun. Qasadun is middle and straight path, central condition; which is pure from inflation and deflation. Qaasid means “that individual who goes straight, a thing or condition in which; there is no pain or distress. Here it aims the same. From the same; a word ‘iqtasaad has come out which means “balanced path, in which; moderate condition is kept in view. Qasad means drawing attention toward a side also, as well as the individual who draws his attention too. Qaasid is used for the word a courier or messenger” also.

Shuqqatun – (space of a journey), ruggedly detour, distance between two things. It is a noun which has been made from shaqq. Shaqqun means “to break, to make two pieces by amputating”. A word shaqaaq has been derived from it also which means “the dispute among the people themselves”. This word has come in Surah Al-Baqarah too, in the same appropriateness; the distance between two things is called shuqqah.

Command of preparation for the Battle of Tabuuk was such hard trial, in which; it was very difficult to pass; for those people whose belief was weak. It is commanded that if they had hope that after a little distance; they would be able to obtain the spoils of war and the journey was without difficulties and hardships, then they would have gone along with you happily. But due to adopting so long distance, their life comes out. Certainly, they will pretend, so that they should not be included in the journey of war. Some of them will swear before your departure and some after your returning that they had to go with you, but there were some such necessary works to do that they could not partake in the journey.

With these actions they have been going to make their own loss. They will be ruined in this world as well as on the Day of Resurrection. God Almighty knows very well that they are liars.

Command for general preparation

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

41.  Go forth, light-armed and heavy-armed, and strive with your wealth and your lives in the Way of Allah! That is best for you if ye but know.
41.  ‘Infiruu  khifaafanw-wa   siqaa-lanw-wa  jaahiduu  bi-‘amwaa-likum  wa  ‘anfu-sikum   fii  Sabii-LIllaah.  Zaalikum  khayrul-lakum  ‘in-  kuntum  ta’-lamuun.

Commentary

Khifaafun – (light-armed), this word is plural of khafiif, which has been made from the word khiffatunKhiffatun means “to be light”. Khafiif is an adjective from it. The light is such person who is not loaded or who has no goods for lifting. Light-armed has the same meaning here.

Siqaalun – (heavy, burdened), it is plural of saqiil, which is also an adjective and have been derived from saqal. It means “to be loaded” and it is used for a load too. Saqiil is that person who has some luggage to lift.

It was admonished in the previous verse that neither God Almighty is needy of you and nor of your help. He takes work from you for the purpose that your degrees may be increased and give you gifts and rewards after examining your obedience. Therefore, if you desire to obtain the happiness of the both Worlds, then it is the time for that purpose.

Get ready for work. If you are ready then hear: What are you being commanded at this time? Do not seek any excuse or pretext in obeying His Command. Join the Army in such condition; in which you are, leaving your homes and families and move up. The same has been explained in this verse.

It is commanded that you should stand up immediately, in which condition you are, whether someone of you is a foot solder or has any horse for riding, rich or poor. One should produce himself to sacrifice; who has nothing to sacrifice, but who has wealth also; he must produce the both i.e. himself and his wealth. No pretext will be accepted at this time.

It is not the time of thinking that the weather is very hot, we have not provisions and goods for fighting, or we have to cut the ripen crops. You must have full trust in your greatest General, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) and believe that there is much betterment for you in this journey of war.

Ahead, you will know automatically. Although, you cannot estimate at this time that what the Muslims will get in this journey? Apparently it seems that there is only loss and damage in this journey, giving up rest and cold of the house, bearing severity of the hot season, moving fast in the forests being hungry and thirsty, and besides this all loss of crops.

After hearing the above command, the entire Muslims got ready. However, the hypocrites began to evade of various sorts.

Commentary

Allah Almighty commands: We did not call anyone of you for help of Our Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) and His Companion (May God be pleased with Him) at that time, but there was no occasion of any mankind’s help. Our Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) and His Companion {Abu Bakr (May God be pleased with Him)} both were alone in the Cave (Sawr) and the Infidels were standing at the mouth of the Cave.

Abu Bakr (May God be pleased with Him) was confused that if they looked down; then certainly they would see Them. At that time, God Almighty took work from the spider and a pair of pigeons. The spider wove its web at the mouth of the Cave and the pair of pigeons laid their eggs there. The Infidels inferred by seeing the spider’s web safe and sound and sitting there; a pair of pigeons that if someone would have entered in the Cave; then neither this web would have been remained stable and nor the pair of pigeons could remain sitting satisfactorily in their nest directly over the door of the Cave.

It was apparent help by Allah Almighty, whereas hidden support was that He sent down disguised Armies of the Angels (peace be upon them), which could not be seen by the human being, but they were influencing the heart of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) and He did not feel any kind of fear.

At the spot, when the Infidels were checking the situation, standing at the Cave’s door, the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) said to His Companion: Grieve not; lo! Allah is with us. Therefore, the heart of His Companion received the affect of His heart and the confusion was over.

The Infidels could not succeed in their bad intentions. Their scheme was failed totally. The plan of God Almighty overcame and that; what He willed; was done. He is very Powerful and knows that when, how and which kind of help will be suitable in which situation. When intelligent Muslims of that time heard these verses, they understood that: Indeed, Allah Almighty has made us means of the prestige of Islam. And it is His great Kindness. If we got ready by gripping our loins to move on His Command, He shall help us in all difficult circumstances. And if we spent in idleness at this time, He has Power to complete His work with His own Omnipotence, but we shall be punished very severely and we shall live of nowhere.

Commentary

It is known from the verse before this that Islam is the actual Religion; prescribed by Allah Almighty for the mankind. And its establishment in the world is necessary according to His Decision. This Religion is not for any particular class or any particular nation. If any time, any nation is provided an opportunity to help it, then that nation should consider it their good fortune, which is given to her by a lucky chance.

The Muslims of Madinah are being caused to understand: God Almighty wills to take this work from you at this time. If you spent in idleness at this occasion of supporting His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), then certainly Allah Almighty will raise any other nation for His help and you will be deprived of a big prosperity and will deserve punishment.

It is commanded in this verse that God Almighty does not need help of anyone for establishing His Religion. If He takes work from any nation in this connection, that is for the reason that He increases his rank; and honors him with His distinguishing gifts. If you have any doubt in this regard that; how Alone Allah Almighty can help someone, then you should meditate in the incidents of Immigration and behold that when the people of Makkah decided to kill His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), and with this intention, the chosen people of the entire tribes surrounded the door of His House, that whenever He would come out, then suddenly; all people would attack collectively and slay Him (Let us flee to God).

He, God’s Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) was in the House. He left Ali (May God be pleased with Him) on Own bed and came out of the House. In front of all of the idolaters, He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) went away clearly, throwing dust in their eyes. Taking Abu Bakr (May God be pleased with Him) along from his house, they came out of Makkah and hid both in the nearby Cave, named Sawr. The Infidels came out in search of them and arrived at the door of that Cave. Abu Bakr (May God be pleased with Him) was confused that if the people of Makkah saw them then it would be difficult to escape. The Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) commanded: Grieve not! Lo! God is with us.

You can be replaced if you disobeyed -2 - Quran Chapter 9 – 39 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1187) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 9 – 39 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1187) - درس قرآن

You can be replaced if you disobeyed -2

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

What would have been happened on the hearts of true lovers of Islam; when they would have heard this verse and the verses coming forth? They can understand well; who think about those circumstances. They bowed down their heads on the decision of God Almighty and His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), did not care for tiredness and severe hot season, and engaged in preparation of the Battle pleasantly.

In the history of Islam, this situation was very critical. If the commands of the Great Guide (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) would not have been obeyed timely and properly at that time, then the humanity would have been ruined and today; its sign would not have been found. Those venture-some people understood the gravity of the time and came forth being tough at the time of terror to save the Muslim nation.

Not only were the Muslims saved from destruction by their courage but in fact, putting the human life on the Right Path in the world; was because of them. Think for a while about those difficulties which were being faced by the Muslims. Besides natural idleness, there were a lot of hindrances in the way of so much long journey, but these brave soldiers stood face to face before all resistances, and determined to reach the boundary of Syria from Madinah with enthusiasm and diligently; for prevention from destruction, and after arriving at the border, they performed their duty. The biggest difficulty was the same which happens usually at such times, that is to say; they did neither have provisions and goods for the journey and nor war equipment. For this purpose, they sacrificed their wealth with open hearts.

Abu Bakr Siddique (May God be pleased with him) picked all things of his house and put up before the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), nothing was left behind at home by him. Umar Farooq (May God be pleased with him) brought half of his total wealth and considered: Today I would have done more than Abu Bakr Siddique (May God be pleased with him). But when he saw that he has brought his entire things, then cried out: It is impossible to win from him in the religious services.

Othman (May God be pleased with him) brought a lot of goods and accumulated at a place. It is said that three hundred camels load with grains and provisions plus one thousand Dinars were produced by him for expenditure of the Islamic Army and he received “Bravo” from the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him).

But the hypocrites, the leader of whom was Abdullah bin Ubaii, did not participate in this Battle. Moreover, before the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) and after the departure of Army, they committed mischief unreasonable. Three sincere Muslims could also not participate in this Battle. Their mention will be discussed in the next verses.

Example of these sacrifices cannot be found anywhere in the world history. Fair non-Muslims praised them also, and it is said: Truly, there is no instance of the Companions (May God be pleased with them) of Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) in the world. They themselves are their instance.
