Confusion of the Hypocrites - Quran Chapter 9 – 64 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1208) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 9 – 64 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1208) - درس قرآن

Confusion of the Hypocrites

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

64.  The hypocrites fear lest a Surah should be revealed concerning them, proclaiming what is in their hearts. Say: Scoff (your fill)! Lo! Allah will surely expose what ye fear.
64.  Yahzarul-Munaa-fiquuna  ‘an-  tunazzala  ‘alay-him  suuratun-  tunabbi-‘uhum  bimaa  fii  quluu-bihim.  Qulis-tahzi-‘uu.  ‘InnAllaaha  mukhri-jummaa  tah-zaruun.

Commentary

Condition of the Hypocrites was indeed very astonishing. Their hearts did not desire that the people should be obedient to the Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallamand Islam succeed, because they were observing clearly; death of their chief-ship and dignity in it. But they were helpless due to existing circumstances, because the strength of the Muslims was increasing rapidly before their eyes day and night. And it was becoming more necessary for them day by day to make good relations with the Muslims.

It was the reason that as much as possible; they used to flatter the Muslims apparently, but privately they did not miss any chance of wickedness against them being forced by their hearts. And they used to amuse in this manner that “If the news reached the Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam), He (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallamis very Forbearer and Mild. We shall make Him to understand by telling lies”.

But denial of the Revelation was difficult for them, because there was no scope of suspicion now in Its truth. Therefore, they remained afraid every time that lest any such Surah is revealed due to which the dark side of our deeds is opened. The same has been explained in this verse.

It is commanded that these double-dealers and ostentatious people fear: lest such Chapter should be revealed that those entire secrets are disclosed which are held in our hearts. If it was so then the evil would come upon us in full scale. Then it is commanded: You continue setting your traps of imposture and carry on your habits of joking and deceiving the Muslims. God Almighty has been observing everything.

In the process of time, surely God shall expose all those matters which are in your hearts and you will hide your heads through shame. Your fear will come before you. It is impossible that due to your mischievous tactics, the growth of the True Religion is stopped and the world sets back again in the darkness, in which it had been stumbling since long.

Trick of the Hypocrites - Quran Chapter 9 – 62 & 63 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1207) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 9 – 62 & 63 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1207) - درس قرآن

Trick of the Hypocrites

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

62.  They swear by Allah to you (Muslims) to please you, but Allah, with His Messenger, hath more right that they should please Him if they are Believers.

63.  Know they not that whoso opposeth Allah and His Messenger, for him is fire of Hell, to abide therein for ever? That is the extreme abasement.
62.  Yahli-fuuna  Billaahi  lakum  li-yurzuu-kum.  Wallaahu  wa  Rasuu-luHuuu  ‘ahaqqu  ‘any-yur-zuuHu  ‘in-  kaanuu  Mu’-miniin.

(Part Three-Fourth)

63.  ‘Alam-  ya’-lamuuu  ‘annahuu  many-yuhaadi-Dillaaha  wa  RasuulaHuu  fa-‘anna  lahuu  naara  Jahan-nama  khaa-lidan-  fiihaa  .  Zaalikal-khizyul-‘aziim.

Commentary

Yuhaadi-du – (oppose), it is a present tense, which has been derived from the word muhaad-datun and origin of which is hadd. Hadd means “aside and margin”. Muhaad-datun means “to stand on opposite side for fighting, to oppose face to face”.

It was a habit of the Hypocrites that when they used to get any opportunity and find the field empty, they used to find faults in the Muslims and say that they were very bad. Even, they had resolved on mischief, although apparently, they used to make with them very deep brother-hood.

Whenever their treachery was betrayed, they used to come running unto the Muslims and say: Believe not in rumors against us. They used to swear and try to assure that: Our intentions are clear from your side. We are never desirous of your dissension and loss. Yours and our friendship is very good.

Telling such kinds of lies, they used to try to persuade and content the Muslims. In this verse, the state of their cleverness has been explained. It is commanded that these people come running unto you after betraying their secrets and assure you by swearing that: We are well-wishers of you only.

Though, it is not useful if you please in such a way. The actual thing is that they should please God Almighty and His Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam), because God Almighty is Aware of their natural condition very well. And He informs also to His Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) about their tricks now and then.

Every true Believer should know that if they believe then they should try to conciliate Allah Almighty and His Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam), otherwise it must be noted by them that whoso opposes God Almighty and His Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam), for him is fire of Hell, to abide therein for ever. And it is so much extreme abasement and disgrace that against it, entire casual benefits of the world are worthless.

Commentary

In the previous verses it was narrated that some Hypocrites were selfish and greedy. In this connection, the rule of Zakaat was discussed also, that God Almighty has prescribed for you as a collective duty for distributing this money in some kinds of the people. The property of Zakaat (the poor-due) must be divided according to God’s prescribed method. Besides them, no individual have any right in such property and money. Another bad habit of the Hypocrites has been disclosed in this verse.

It is commanded that some Hypocrites used to discuss the evil of the Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) with one another during mutual conversation at their places of assembly and calumniate Him of various sorts. When they were told that if such news would reach the Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam), He (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) would feel grief and be afflicted. Then they used to say: We shall content Him (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) by evading and tricks, because He (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) is the person who only hears, and whatever is told to Him (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) by anyone, He trusts. It is commanded: Say to them O Prophet (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam): This courtesy of the Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) is only for your betterment, otherwise if He (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) had been excited due to very little matters, then you would have been ruined very earlier. Why the morality of the Prophet (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) must not be correct whereas He has faith in Allah Almighty. He (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) trusts in the truth of His believer Companions (May Allah be pleased with Them). And He is a mercy and kindness for those of you who are true Muslims. If now; someone desires to acquire sympathy and favor of the Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) from this pleasant manner, he is fortunate. And whosoever carries on His back-biting and vexing by reaping advantage of His patience and softness, then for him there is a very painful doom. Such kind of people will be punished very severely in the both Worlds.

The People who deserve Alms - Quran Chapter 9 – 60 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1205) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 9 – 60 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1205) - درس قرآن

The People who deserve Alms

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

60.  The alms are only for the poor and the needy, and those who collect them, and those whose hearts are to be reconciled, and to free the captives and the debtors, and for the Cause of Allah, and (for) the wayfarer. A duty imposed by Allah. Allah is Knower, Wise.
60.  ‘Innamas-Sadaqaatu  lil-fuqaraaa-‘i   wal-masaakiini  wal-‘aamiliina  ‘alay-haa  wal-mu-‘allafati  quluu-buhum  wa  fir-riqaabi  wal-gaarimiina  wa fii  Sabii-LIllaahi  wabnis-sabiil.  Farii-zatam-minAllaah.  Wallaahu ‘Aliimun  Hakiim.

Commentary

It has been described in the previous verses that some Hypocrites are desirous to receive the entire Alms which the Messenger of God Almighty (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) distribute. They wish that those alms must not be given to any other save them. In this connection, complete ruling about the Alms; that is to say; the money and goods of Zakaat (the poor-due) has been explained in this verse, so that; it must be known that the right of any individual is not established as the mind may desire by claiming  and wishes of getting Alms.

Zakaat (the poor-due) is spent on the following objects. Those people who are not entitled according to such category, which has been mentioned in this verse, they will be given nothing from the Alms and Zakaat fund. It is commanded that Zakaat (the Poor-due) should be given to following eight kinds of deserving people:

1.   The poor that is to say; who has nothing.

2.   The needy i.e. that individual who have something but cannot fulfill his requirement with it.

3.   Collectors of the revenues – those servants of the Government who are appointed for receiving and collecting Zakaat from the people.

4.   Mu-‘allafatul-quluub – those persons whose hearts are to be reconciled, that is to say; those people who feel that; by embracing Islam; their necessities would be fulfilled, and they are ready to enter in Islam.

5.   For setting free the captives.

6.   The debtors – seekers of financial support due to any sudden necessity.

7.   Those people who are busy in the public works and for the Cause of God Almighty as strivers, endeavors and religious warriors.

8.   The wayfarers – who have not any money during their journey, though they have at home.

Way of spending the amount and goods of Zakaat has already been prescribed by God Almighty. He has determined it as a national duty Himself on account of His Knowledge and Wisdom. None can make any change in it; at his own. If any group from the above mentioned eight kinds of people does not exist, then the money of the Zakaat must be distributed in remainder groups/people.

Quran Chapter 9 – 58 & 59 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1204) - درس قرآن

The Greedy

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

58.  And of them are those who defameth thee in the matter of the alms. So if they are given thereof they are content, and if they are not given thereof, behold! They are enraged.

59.  (How much more seemly) had they been pleased with that which Allah and His Messenger had given them and had said: Allah sufficeth us, Allah will give us of His Bounty, and (also) His Messenger and unto Allah we are suppliants.
58.  Wa  minhum  many-yal-mizuka  fis-sadaqaat.  Fa-‘in  ‘u’-tuu  minhaa  razuu  wa  ‘illam  yu’-taw  minhaaa  ‘izaa hum  yas-khatuun.

59.  Wa  law  ‘anna-hum  razuu  maa  ‘aataa-humUllaahu  wa  Rasuulu-Huu  wa  qaaluu  hasbu-nAllaahu  sa-yu’-tii-nAllaahu  min-  fazli-Hii  wa  Rasuulu-Huuu,  ‘innaaa  ‘ilAllaahi  raagi-buun.

Commentary

Yal-mizu – (they defame, reproach), this word is from lam-zun, which means “to stick any pointed thing in”, it also means “to find faults in other’s work, to resolve on mischief, taunting and slandering etc.”

One more habit of the selfish Hypocrites has been described in these verses. It was told in the previous verses that: They have to flatter you for the purpose that; lest you know not their actual condition, otherwise they will live nowhere. If they find any other place for hiding themselves, they will lurk immediately, turning away from you. After that, their other habit has been disclosed here.

It is commanded that when Messenger of God Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) distributes alms, they say: He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) gives to them only who are His own (companions and relatives etc.), and does not bear equal to all in mind.

But if they are given according to their will, then they are content, if not given, then again they begin to tell the same lies. It was better for them if they had trust in God Almighty and in the justice of His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him); and had been content on that whatever was given to them. But they are at a great distance from it.

Magnificence of the Believers is very higher than their imagination. They are seekers of God’s willingness in all conditions and are inclined to Him only, and they remain content by accepting the grant of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) happily.
