Quran Chapter 9 – 114 (Pt-11, Stg-2) (L-1253) - درس قرآن

Correction of one misunderstanding

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

114.  The prayer of Abraham for the forgiveness of his father was only because of a promise which he had made to him, but when it had become clear unto him that he (his father) was an enemy to Allah he (Abraham) disowned him. Lo! Abraham was soft of heart, forbearing.
114.  Wa  maa  kaanas-tigfaaru  ‘Ibraa-hiima  li-‘abiihi  ‘illaa  ‘ammaw-‘idatinw-  wa-‘ada-haaa  ‘iy-yaah.  Falammaa  ta-bayyana  lahuuu  ‘annahuu
‘aduw-wul-Lillaahi  tabarra-‘a  minh.  ‘Inna  ‘Ibraa-hiima  la-‘awwaa-hun  haliim.

Commentary

Surah Maryam (Chapter Mary) of Holy Qur’aan had been revealed during the stay at Makkah. In it; it was described that Abraham (peace be upon Him) caused to understand His father with proofs that he should give up idol-worshiping. But His father denied. Moreover, he threatened to Abraham (peace be upon Him) in these words: If you (peace be upon Him) talked so; then I shall punish you (peace be upon Him) severely. I don’t bear your living at my home. Get out, I wish to get rid of you.

Abraham (peace be upon Him) said with sorrow to His father: O.K. I am going. Now; only it is in my power that I should pray for you before Allah Almighty to guide you, so that you believe. And your previous errors and sins are forgiven due to belief.

Listening to this story, some Muslims began to pray also for forgiveness of their idolater parents and relatives. In the previous verse, the Messenger of God Almighty and common Muslims (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) were prevented to do so. And it was commanded: While they deserve the Hell-fire because of disbelieving, then you should not pray for their forgiveness. Abraham (peace be upon Him) prayed for His idolater father due to a reason, which has been mentioned in this verse.

It is commanded: Abraham (peace be upon Him) prayed for His father’s forgiveness due to the reason that at the time of leaving His home, He promised with His father! I shall pray from my Lord for forgiveness of your errors and sins. It aimed that He (peace be upon Him) would pray for showing the way of guidance to His father and he should believe, and by doing so, his sins might be forgiven.

But when he {father of Abraham (peace be upon Him)} died on infidelity; then He (peace be upon Him) knew that the Belief was not in his luck. After that, He (peace be upon Him) did never draw His attention towards His father and nor prayed for his forgiveness.

Therefore, while you have known from clear proofs that certainly a person is fuel of the Fire of the Hell then you should not pray for his forgiveness. Make over his matter to Allah, the Most Merciful of the Merciful. And get ready to sacrifice your lives and wealth in obedience of God Almighty.

Religious detachment from pagans - Quran Chapter 9 – 113 (Pt-11, Stg-2) (L-1252) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 9 – 113 (Pt-11, Stg-2) (L-1252) - درس قرآن

Religious detachment from pagans

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

113.  It is not proper for the Prophet, and those who believe, to pray for the forgiveness of idolaters even though they may be near of kin (to them) after it hath become clear that they are people of Hell-fire.
113.  Maa  kaana  lin-Nabiyyi  wal-laziina  ‘aamanuuu  ‘anyyastag-firuu  lil-Mushri-kiina  wa  law  kaanuuu  ‘ulii-  qurbaa  mim-  ba’-di  maa  ta-bayyana  lahum  ‘annahum  ‘as-haabul-Jahiim.

Commentary

After causing to understand the meanings of Islam to the Muslims, and illustrating about their conduct, now it is being described that “what behavior should be with them; who do not desire to enter in the circle of Islam, that is to say, either they do not believe in Allah Almighty but they have ascribed others as partners to Him OR they admit with their tongues but heartily they do not mention the covenant with Him.

Known from it is that, which has been explained earlier that they should be treated in the world as they behave with you. If they wish to live altogether and keep their matters straight, then you should dwell with them also mutually. Moreover, you should do acts of kindness for them. If they treat you as a foe, grip up their loins to trouble you and are inclined to fight, then you should also fight them till the disturbance is over.

In this verse, behavior with them has been described from religious aspect. On the basis of religion, there is a great difference between you and them. You are hopeful of God’s blessings and kindness, whereas they are revolted from Allah Almighty openly or in their hearts. Therefore they do not deserve forgiveness of God Almighty. So you should not pray for their forgiveness.

Some merciful Muslims and the Messenger Himself (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), who is Merciful for the entire Worlds (Rahmatal-lil-‘Aalamiin), used to ask for forgiveness of their idolater and hypocrite relatives, mother, father and brothers etc. whether they were living or departed. This verse guides about them clearly.

It is commanded that praying for the idolaters by the Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) and other Muslims for their forgiveness is not proper, because they have no any such covenant with Allah Almighty, and they either were or are totally unmindful from His side. Therefore, whether they are very close relatives and you have known about them that they will enter in the Hell-fire, you should not pray for their forgiveness.

It is clarified that the Promise of Paradise is only for such people who have sold their all things to Allah Almighty and their lives are accomplished with such hobbies, which have been explained in the previous lesson. Those people who are not like them, you should not pray for their forgiveness.

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

112.  (Triumphant) are those who turn repentant (to Allah), those who serve (Him), those who praise (Him), those who journey (in the earth), those who bow down, those who fall prostrate, (in worship), those who enjoin the right and who forbid the wrong and those who guard the limits of Allah. And give glad tidings to Believers.
112.  ‘At-Taaa-‘ibuunal-  ‘aabi-duunal-  haami-duunas-  saaa-‘ihuunar-  raaki-‘uunas-  saaji-duunal-  ‘aami-ruuna  bil-ma’-ruufi  wannaa-huuna  ‘anil-munkari  wal-haafi-zuuna  li-huduu-Dillaah.  Wa  bash-shiril-  Mu’-miniin.

Commentary

‘As-Saaa-‘ihuuna – (pilgrims, wayfarers, travelers), this word is a subject and plural of saaa-‘ih from the word siaa-hat. Siaa-hat means “walking about hither and thither”. Those who journey in the earth, do not stay anywhere permanently, but keep wandering in townships and countries. Therefore, they do not have any firm relationship with any individual anywhere. It aims that a Muslim does not establish permanent relationship with the world and lives like wayfarers.

It was explained in the previous verse that the matter of a Believer with Allah Almighty is as “One is seller and One is purchaser”. The Believer sells his life and wealth to Allah Almighty and He purchases it, and as its price; He gives the Believer “Paradise in the Hereafter”. After buying life and wealth of the Believer, Allah Almighty lets remained it with him, with the condition that “whenever he will be asked to expend it, he will expend it unhesitatingly according to God’s commandment, and he will not care of living or dying and being a poor.

It has been narrated in this verse that in such Believer, whosoever makes this kind of bargain with Allah Almighty wholeheartedly, following attributes are born into him:

1.   He repents immediately if erred.

2.   He remains busy in the service (worship) of Allah Almighty.

3.   He praises Allah Almighty with his tongue, conduct and style.

4.   He considers that he is a great traveler and wayfarer in the world, and reaps advantage from worldly things as and when required; like them but remains without connection from them.

5.   He bows down before Allah Almighty with humility and falls prostrate.

6.   He enjoins the right and forbids the wrong.

7.   He guards the limits of Allah Almighty and does not cross them in any matter.

Those people who make such bargain with Allah Almighty and remain firm on above mentioned attributes, are however, Believers. It is being commanded to the Messenger of God Almighty (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) that he should give glad tidings to such Believers “and they will be successful in the both Worlds”.

The reality of the Religion (Islam) has been manifested completely in above mentioned two verses (111 & 112). Its full plan has been produced before us that “how the religious people should live in this world”. The individual, who desires to understand Islam, should meditate in these verses.

Quran Chapter 9 – 111 (Pt-11, Stg-2) (L-1250) - درس قرآن

Good Deal

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

111.  Lo! Allah hath bought from the believers their lives and their wealth because the Garden will be theirs. They fight in the Way of Allah and so they slay and are slain. It is a promise which is binding on Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur’aan. And who fulfilleth his covenant better than Allah? Rejoice then in your bargain that ye have made. And that is the supreme triumph.
111.  ‘InnAllaahash-taraa  minal-Mu’-miniina  ‘anfu-sahum  wa  ‘amwaa-lahum-  bi-‘anna  lahumul-Jannah.  Yuqaa-tiluuna  fii  Sabii-Lillaahi  fayaq-tuluuna  wa  yuqta-luun.  Wa’-dan  ‘alay-hi  Haqqan  fit-Tawraati  wal-‘Injiili  wal-Qur-‘aan.  Wa  man  ‘awfaa  bi-‘Ahdihii  minAllaahi  fastab-shiruu  bi-bay-‘i-kumulla-zii  baaya’-tum-bih.  Wa  zaalika  huwal-fawzul-‘aziim.

Commentary

Baaya’-tum – (you made bargain), it is past tense, origin of which is mubaa-yatun. This word has been derived from bay-‘a. Bay-‘a means selling and buying. Mubaa-yatun means - making bargain with someone else, barter, trafficking by exchange of commodities.

This verse is summary of the Religion Islam and known from it also is that Islam is such Religion; teachings of which were delivered to the people by all Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon Them) during their times respectively. And which Scripture was revealed on every Prophet and Messenger (peace be upon Him), in it, the same teachings had been produced.

There is a dire need to meditate in the text of this verse. It is commanded: Which Religion has been determined for the human being, that is very easy. If the mankind will use his sense, he will behold that nothing is difficult in it. Which Messenger (peace be upon Him) came in which duration to save the humankind from straying (due to which; all difficulties come in the life), He (peace be upon Him) said to His people: Believe in Allah Almighty (God) wholeheartedly, then understand it properly that Allah Almighty is desirous from you that you should live in this world according to the covenant; you made with Him. Sell your lives and wealth to Allah Almighty, which means that whenever, He command you about anything, produce your lives and wealth immediately to obey His order, whether you are slain or your wealth remains no more. In both forms, you will deserve the Gardens (Paradise) for obeying His command. It is a promise; which is binding on Him, mentioned in Torah, Gospel and Qur’aan. None can be truer than Allah Almighty in fulfilling the promise. So you should be happy that you have made bargain with Him, sold your lives and wealth to Him; and purchased Paradise from Him. It is such a great success, against which; all other accidental successes are worthless.
