Quran Chapter 2:7 (Pt-1 Stg-1)(L–26)-درس قرآن

Hypocrites

Surah ‘Al-Baqarah (The Cow) – Chapter – 2)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Lesson

In the introduction of Surah Al-Baqarah it was discussed in Lesson # 13, that like every Movement, three kinds of groups were born, when Islam came:

·         Believers – who believed that Islam is a true religion.

·         Infidels – who denied and opposed Islam.

·         Hypocrites – who apparently accepted but in fact, they did not believe in Islam.

Description in respect of Believers and Infidels has been discussed in the first Section. Now the narration about the third group begins.

The word Munaafiq has come out from nafaqa, literal meaning of which is “to mine”, as wild animals make mines under the ground, so that they may hide themselves at the time of necessity and run away through secret passages. In this sense, the Hypocrites are those unlucky people, who accept Islam apparently, but opposite to the Muslims, they behave deceitfully and secretly, and for the enmity; they wait.

When Messenger of God Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) migrated from Makkah and reached Madinah, at that time, the people of Madinah were getting ready to choose a person of Banu Khazraj Tribe, named Abdullah bin Ubaii bin Salol, as their chieftain of the city. He was very wicked and a manipulative man. On arrival of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), the matter of his coronation was indefinitely deferred. Every individual of Madinah began to look at the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him).

When Abullah observed this condition, he remained silent. He considered the wisdom in it that he should not raise his voice against Islam and the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him). Therefore, he announced that he has embraced Islam along with his companions. But internally, they remained in waiting that whenever, in future; they would get any chance, they would give up Islam; and get up against the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him).

As the time went by, the influence of Islam expanded; and jealousy increased in the hearts of such people. The fire of enmity exceeded in their hearts. Therefore, whenever they availed, they opposed Islam and deceived the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him). This proved that they were domestic enemies in the guise of friends. Notwithstanding; following the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) in the congregational prayers, they opposed Islam always, whenever got any opportunity, and withdrew through pride from the Muslims having ideas of their own. In this connection; there is a famous incident named “Masjid Zaraar”, which was demolished. They left company of Muslims in the Battle of ‘Uhud, when both Armies were face to face. In the second Section, habits and qualities of the Hypocrites have been described. God Almighty save all of us from these entire kinds of badness and bless with perfect Belief.

Even today, the biggest danger to Islam is from the Hypocrites. That is to say; those people who say themselves Muslims, read Kalimah of Islam, name themselves as of Muslims and live with them. But in fact, their hearts are full of infidelity and sympathy with the disbelievers against the Muslims.

Result of infidelity

Surah ‘Al-Baqarah (The Cow) – Chapter – 2)

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

7.  Allah has sealed their hearts and their hearing, and on their eyes there is a covering. Theirs will be an awful doom.
7.  KhatamAllaahu ‘alaa quluu-
bihim wa ‘alaa sam-‘ihim.  Wa ‘alaaa ‘absaarihim gishaa-wah. Wa lahum ‘azaabun ‘aziim.

Lesson

Khatama - (Sealed, stamped), it aims such result, which is born due to constant refusal and opposing the Truth. The purpose of sealing anything is that nothing may enter in it from outside and nothing may go out from it, which has been sealed. For example; if the heart has been sealed, then neither the Truth can enter into it and nor the boldness can remain in it, so that it may proclaim the good as agreeable.

Quluu-bihim - (Their hearts). This word is plural of Qalb. It does not mean here that the Heart is a piece of flesh, but it is the will-power, which is center of the wisdom, the sense and the intention.

Sam-‘ihim - (Their hearing), Samameans - power of hearing, and it aims “their ear”.

‘Absaarihim - (Their eyes), it is plural of basar, which means “Power of looking”.

Ghishaawatun – (Covering), its origin is gashi-yun, which means “to cover, to hide”. Hear it aims: That covering of ignorance over eyes, which although looks the Signs of the Truth, but even then, it resists accepting the facts.

In the world, this universal rule is over all things that whenever any power is not brought into use regularly or it is not activated, then at last, it gives up its functionality. The same condition is of the powers of observing and understanding the Truth. If those are kept un-functional constantly, then such natural Rule of Allah Almighty is enforced here also that they will leave the function of observing and understanding the Truth. Enforcement of the same rule has been described in this verse.

Sealing of the hearts, hearing and covering the eyes of any body by Allah begins, whenever any person chooses the infidelity; intentionally and persists on it. Every individual is given correct nature by God Almighty and it includes the use of thinking power in the signs and revelations of God Almighty. But whenever the mankind misuses his thinking powers and devises to follow the Devil, turning away his direction from the teachings of Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), then he goes out of the chain of kindness of The Prophets (peace be upon Them) and the Support of God Almighty gives him up. Then, he considers that going astray is the straight path.

It is obvious that as the result of taking the poison is cause of death, just like this; changing one’s direction from the Commandments of God Almighty intentionally, becomes cause of spiritual death. As we have learnt earlier that the life of mankind does not finish after death, but there is another life also, which will be consequence of this life. Constantly disobeying in this life will appear in the form of very big agony as punishment.

The Infidels - Quran Chaptr 2-6 (Pt-1 Stg-1)(L–24)-درس قرآن

The Infidels

Surah ‘Al-Baqarah (The Heifer - a young Cow) - 2

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

6.  As for the disbelievers, whether thou warn them or thou warn them not it is all one for them; they believe not.
6.  ‘Innal-laziina kafaruu sawaaa-‘un ‘alay-him ‘a.’anzartahum ‘am lam tunzirhum laa yu’-minuun.

Lesson

Kafaruu – (those who deny the Truth, who refuse, who do not believe in the Omnipotence of God). This word has been derived from kafara, which means “to hide”. According to the Divine Law of the Religion, he is the infidel, who opposes and denies the Truth, who does not believe in God and His Messenger (peace be upon Him).

While God Almighty has described about the success and condition of  the persons who feared Allah and succeeded, then, it is also necessary to discuss the consequence and condition of the Disbelievers, so that; the difference among the two may be cleared and the dignity of the pious and abstinent people is illuminated.

From this verse, now, it is the beginnings of the mention about those people, who are totally opposite to the Believers. They are enemies of Islam heartily, and spend their energy, wealth and time even everything against Islam. Such people resist due to their infidelity; despite in the existence of so clear proofs. Their ability to accept the Truth is being weak day by day due to successive opposing and continuous denial, even that, it goes to the end entirely. In this form, threatening them or otherwise from the punishment, is equal for The Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him).

Main desire of The Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) was that the entire people should enter in the circle of Islam. In this verse, the fact has been cleared before The Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) that those people have destroyed their power of recognizing and believing in the Just.

As; God Almighty has commanded: “Whether thou warn them or thou warn them not, it is all one for them; they believe not,” this news is not a form of decision, but it is an announcement and declaration against the result of their continuous enmity and refusal. Allah Almighty has put the virtue of accepting the Truth in every individual. But the people who oppose the Truth due to their personal benefits, miserly, Misleading or bad company, they waste their power of accepting the Truth slowly and gradually. So, it is our duty that with the power of seeking the Truth, which we have in our hearts naturally; we should not let it be destroyed but remain in search of the Just and the Truth. We should publicize the teachings of the Truth and convey the Message of Truth to the servants of God with such wisdom and in a graceful manner, that, fear of God and softness may be produced in their hearts; who have a little ability to accept the Truth, we should approach unto them with our possible available resources.

Guidance and Success - Quran Chaptr 2-5 (Pt-1 Stg-1)(L–23)-درس قرآن

Quran Chaptr 2-5 (Pt-1 Stg-1)(L–23)-درس قرآن

Guidance and Success

Surah ‘Al-Baqarah (The Heifer - a young Cow) - 2

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

5.  These depend on guidance from their Lord. These are the successful.
5.  ‘Ulaaa-‘ika ‘alaa hudam-mir-Rabbihim wa ‘ulaaa-‘ika humul-Muf-lihuun.

Lesson

‘Al-Muf-lihuun – (Those people, who succeeded), this word has been derived from ‘Falaah’, literal meaning of which is “to split, to tear”. Perhaps it is the reason that a farmer/cultivator is called “Fallaah” because he turns up the soil with a plough in the land and sows the seed, which splits the land and comes out in the form of a plant. In Arabic language, this word is used for vast meanings. Entire kinds of happiness, prosperity, attainment of one’s wishes, profit and safety of the world and of the Day of Resurrection have been included in it. All scholars agree to this meaning that there is no any better word in Arabic language except ‘Falaah’ to declare all kinds of success. ‘Muflih’ (Successful) is that individual; who reaches the success after getting upper hand on all kinds of difficulties and hindrances.

In ‘Surah ‘Al-Faatihah’ (The Opening), we supplicated humbly in the Court of God Almighty for Guidance unto the Straight Path. In reply to that supplication, we received a Message, which we have recited in the previous lessons. After that, some signs were described about the persons, in which these signs exist; only they are guided:

·         They believe in the Unseen World besides this natural world.

·         They establish worship to disclose their relationship practically with Allah Almighty.

·         They spend for the sake of God Almighty from that, which Blessings He has given to them.

·         They believe in that, which God Almighty has revealed on the Messenger, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) in Holy Qur-’aan, and admit that He is their best Spiritual Guide.

·         They believe also in the Scriptures, Manuals and Guidance, revealed before the Holy Qur-’aan i.e. Torah, Psalms and Gospel etc.

·         They have faith in the certainty of the Hereafter (the Day of Resurrection), rewards and punishment according to everyone’s deeds of this life.

Now, it has been described in this verse that these pious people are actually on the Guidance of God Almighty. They will achieve their desires and will be successful in this world and the Hereafter. Acquiring guidance of the Straight Path is the prosperity of this life, a complete and the best Code of life, according to which; they turned their lives and achieved success in all respect. And the Success of the Hereafter is that they will get full rewards of their deeds.

Before Islam, the Arabians were very poor. Camel-driving was their profession. They had neither wealth, nor regular Army and nor sufficient quantity of eatables/drinkable. But when they embraced Islam and acted upon the teachings of Holy Qur-’aan wholeheartedly, then they succeeded in all fields of life. The earth kissed their feet and the sky threw upon them auspiciousness and kindnesses. God Almighty gave them everything, which was promised by Him. Today, if we also mold our lives according to the teachings of Holy Qur-’aan, this promise of success is for us too. And we shall succeed also in this life as well as on the Doomsday.

5 – Belief in the Judgment Day - Quran Chaptr 2-4b (Pt-1 Stg-1)(L–22)-درس قرآن

5 – Belief in the Judgment Day

Surah ‘Al-Baqarah (The Heifer - a young Cow) - 2

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

4b.  And are certain of the Hereafter.
4b.  Wa bil-‘Aakhirati hum yuuqinuun.

Lesson

‘Al-‘Aakhirati – means “the next life; coming after death”. It is called ‘Ad-Daarul- ‘Aakhirah in Holy Qur’an and Yawmul- ‘Aakhirah also

Yuuqinuun – (they believe). This word has been derived from ‘Iiqaan, which has come out from yaqiin. Yaqiin (Belief) is the Knowledge, which has been obvious by the proof as much that no room for doubts and suspicions has remained.

This world is “a place of striving”. That is to say; such life, after which, the time of practice is over. The world coming after this life is called “the place of Requital” in which; every person will be rewarded or punished according to his every act and deed, he performed or committed in this world. There is no doubt that we get retaliation in terms of events in this world but sometimes, it happens that the people are not rewarded or punished fully. The individuals with Good deeds are deprived of getting rewards and wrongdoers are saved from the punishment. Whereas, the justice demands that any act of any person must not be left without retaliation. So, God Almighty has fixed a Day on which; every human being and every nation will get its reward or punishment in full; against every good or bad act. Hence, believing in a sustainable future of this world for reward and punishment is an important component of a true religion.

It has been cleared also that the Hereafter has strong relation with this world. That life will be the result of our deeds, we do in this world. Therefore, it is the attribute of the pious people that they get satisfaction before starting any work; whether the work, they are going to do, is not against the heavenly teachings and guidance of God Almighty in terms of the future and the result?

God Almighty has given us full liberty of selection and power of choice for deeds and acts. We have many ways to reach the destination. But we have to choose the path about which Allah Almighty has guided us. If the belief regarding the end of this world, rewards or punishments according to good or bad deeds – is kept in view by us every time, then it is sure that we shall remain firm on the path of the Truth and temperance in this worldly life. We should mould our lives according to the principles of Holy Qur-‘aan, so that; we may acquire much pleasant results from it and we may succeed in the both worlds. The person, who has not faith in liability of his acts, calculation of good and bad deeds and their results, he will never correct his deeds.

4 – Belief in Heavenly Scriptures

Surah ‘Al-Baqarah (The Heifer - a young Cow) - 2

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

4a.  And who believe in that which is revealed unto thee (Muhammad) and that which was revealed before thee,
4a.  Wallaziina yu’-minuuna bi-maaa ‘unzila ‘ilayka wa maaa ‘unzila min-qablik.

Lesson

Fourth attribute of the people, who fear God Almighty, has been described in this verse. That is to say, these people believe in all Celestial Scriptures and writings Inspired.

As though, two matters have been explained in this verse:

1.    Belief in the teachings and instructions of Holy Book (Holy Qur-‘aan), which has been revealed unto the Messenger, Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) wholeheartedly.

2.    Belief in it that the Scriptures and Writings inspired unto Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon Them), Who came before the last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), were Just and sent down from God Almighty.

Now; it is also clear that in the Holy Qur-’aan, only the Scripture of the last Prophet (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallamand the Scriptures revealed unto the Prophets, came before the last Prophet (peace be upon them), have been described. Neither there is any mention about any prophet after the last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) and nor any holy book after the Holy Qur’aan. So, it is understood that no prophet or messenger will come after the last Prophet, Muhammad (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam), otherwise, it would have been mentioned in the Holy Qur-‘aan.

The Prophets (peace be upon Them), came before Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), are many in numbers. Names from some of Them; have been mentioned in the Holy Qur-’aan. For remaining Prophets (peace be upon Them), it has been hinted only. Believing in the Prophets (peace be upon Them) means that from Adam to the Last Messenger Muhammad (peace be upon Them), how many Prophets came, Those entire (peace be upon Them) were sent by Allah Almighty. And they used to teach the people according to their times. From the previous Celestial Scriptures, four Scriptures have been mentioned in Holy Qur’aan particularly:

1.                Manuals of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him)

2.                Torah of Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him)

3.                Psalms of Prophet David (peace be upon Him)

4.                Gospel of Prophet Jesus Christ (peace be upon Him)

Messenger of God Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) compared the series of the prophecy to a palace and commanded: “Every Prophet (peace be upon Him) fitted a brick of His time to construct this palace. At the end, Jesus (peace be upon Him) came and fitted a brick in the palace of prophet-hood. The people used to come, look at this ‘Building’ and praise very much, but in addition, they used to say also that “it is incomplete due to one Brick. Would that, the remaining Brick was fitted at its proper place? I am that ‘last Brick’, now there is no need and space for any further brick for this palace of prophet-hood.”

These all Prophets of God Almighty (peace be upon Them) produced the same one Truth always before their nation that: Lord of the entire Worlds is only One ‘Allah’. Now Holy Qur-‘aan commands to its Believers: You must believe in all of them (peace be upon Them). Which example of acceptance of the truth and approbation can be most dignified than it?

3 – Sacrifice of wealth

Surah ‘Al-Baqarah (The Heifer - a young Cow) - 2

BisMIllaahir-Rahmaanir-Rahiim
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

3c.  And spend of that We have bestowed upon them
3c.  Wa mimmaa razaqnaahum yun-fiquun

Lesson

RazaqNaahum – (We have bestowed upon them). These are two separate words, “RazaqNaa” (We have bestowed) and “hum” (upon them). The word, “RazaqNaa” has been derived from “rizq” which have vast meanings in Arabic Language. All kinds of favors and blessings come in it, whether those are external as wealth, health and children etc. or internal as knowledge, wisdom and understanding etc. In the Grants from God Almighty, the wealth is a great thing. It is obvious from this verse that everything has been granted by Allah Almighty and which gifts are rewarded to the mankind, all are bestowed due to His Kindness.

yun-fiquun – (They spend). This word has come out from “’infaaq”, which means “spending the wealth”.

Third attribute of those people, who fear God heartily and spend their wealth for His cause - is being narrated in this part of the verse. That, whatever God Almighty has bestowed upon them, they spend out of it in reasonable and needful situations, for just and useful purposes. Spending the wealth for the sake of Allah Almighty is a great sacrifice. There are many such people who perform only physical worship but do not like to spend any penny. This kind of avarice is dangerous in this world and for the Day of Judgment.

Whenever the friends, relatives and parents of any person turn to him for help in their needs, at that time, he displeases them and the stingy denies, then they are afflicted in their minds. And after that, a difference comes in his business, because they give up co-operating with him. Besides this, when there is no constitution of supporting the needy people in the society i.e. orphans and helpless people and spending in public welfare projects, then correctness of the national affairs and defense extensions are stopped, all the people are entangled in trouble and resultant, personal wealth is finished.

In the life after death, it will be the result of stinginess that when; the love of wealth is engraved on the heart and the soul of mankind leaves body at the time of death, it remains very much restless due to the love of the wealth, and this improper love appears in the form of snakes, scorpions and appears in the form of fire, which adopts form of a wrath. So, Allah Almighty has taught the mankind that; for success of the world and the religion, it is necessary that the people should sacrifice their wealth. And like this, they should spend from His given strengths, abilities and qualifications to serve the humanity.

It is our duty that we must not withdraw from serving the common people with our all struggles, strengths, abilities and wealth, and we should participate wholeheartedly according to our ability. This is the best for the nation, the country and for every individual.
