Proof of the Divinity of Allah - Quran Chapter 3- 15 (Pt-3, Stg-1) (L-370) -

Quran Chapter 3- 15 (Pt-3, Stg-1) (L-370) -

Proof of the Divinity of Allah

Surah ‘Aali-‘Im-raan (The Family of ‘Imran) – Chptr – 3)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

18.  Allah (Himself) is witness that there is no God save Him, and the angels and the men of learning (too are witness), maintaining His creation with justice. There is no God save Him the Almighty, the Wise.
18.  Shahi-dallaahu  ‘anna-Huu  laaa  ‘ilaaha  ‘illaa  Huwa-wal-malaaa-‘ikatu  wa  ‘ulul-‘ilmi  qaaa-‘imam-  bil-qist.  Laaa  ‘ilaaha  ‘illaa  Huwal-‘Aziizul-Hakiim.

Commentary

Shahi-dAllaahu – (Allah is witness), this evidence of Allah Almighty has been using to come regularly in the Heavenly Scriptures. Besides this, every particle of the universe has been testifying that none is worthy of worship save the Lord of the entire worlds. Testimony of Divine’s Scriptures has prestige of written evidence and the entire things of earth and sky (universe) provide reasonable evidence. As though, both types of proofs exist (logical and written).

‘Al-malaaa-‘ikatu  - (the Angles), it means that the Angles (peace be upon them) also testify that none is worthy of worship save Allah Almighty. As though it has been cleared too that the Angels (themselves) (peace be upon them) sing the songs of Oneness of Allah Almighty, who are considered by the Idolater Nations as gods and goddesses.

‘Ulul-‘ilmi  - (the men of learning, the educated, the scholars), ‘ilm means to know and understand. Knowledge is not only the name of learning the letters and reading the books, but it is the name of knowing the facts of things and cognition of the reality. Either it is by meditation or by experiments and observations. Therefore, ‘ulul-‘ilmi means those educated people who have capability to know about the facts and ability to recognize.

In the beginning of this verse, Christians of Syria (Najraan) were addressed, and it was proclaimed in a very well manner about Oneness of God and by proving to be wrong the faith of divinity of the Christ.  Other matters were also discussed at that time which prevent from believing in Oneness of Allah Almighty, for example, wealth, children and the things of luxurious enjoyment. Then attributes of the Believers were described, who remain firm on Right despite all these obstacles. After this, discussion about Oneness has begun again.

What difficulty can be occurred to believe in Oneness while Allah Almighty (Himself) is witness by means of His work (Nature) besides His Scriptures that only He is worthy to be worshiped. Besides this His Angles (peace be upon them) and the men of learning also testify about Oneness of Allah Almighty. Not having belief in Oneness and standing firm on belief in a plurality of Allah is clearly Ignorance.

Allah Almighty has explained by describing His Virtue, “qaaa-‘imam-  bil-qist” (maintaining His creation with justice) that the talk about Expiation by Christians is untrue, because how can it be possible that only one person is settled responsible for the sins of the entire community and he causes to release all of them by being punished alone. On the contrary, Allah Almighty maintains His creation with justice. He will confer complete retaliation of the acts (good or bad) of every individual.

Quran Chapter 3- 15 (Pt-3, Stg-1) (L-369) -

Characteristics of those who fear God

Surah ‘Aali-‘Im-raan (The Family of ‘Imran) – Chptr – 3)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

16.  Those who say: Our Lord! Lo! we believe, so forgive us our sins and guard us from the punishment of Fire.

17.  The steadfast, and the truthful, and the obedient, and those who spend (and hoard not), and those who pray for pardon in the watches of the night.
16.  ‘Allaziina  yaquuluuna  Rabbaanaaa  ‘innanaaa  ‘aamannaa-  fagfir-lanaa  zunuubanaa  wa  qinaa  ‘azaaban-Naar.

17.  ‘As-Saabiriina  was-Saadi-qiina  wal- Qaani-tiina  wal-Munfiqiina  wal-Mustagfiriina  bil- ‘as-haar.

Commentary

Bil- ‘as-haar – (in the watches of the night), Sahar is the time when darkness of night mingles with the light of dawn. This last part of night has the characteristic that particularly this time is the time for satisfying and awakening of the spiritual powers, although it is difficult for oneself to awake at that time.

Virtues of those people have been described in the verse who were called the pious persons and “those who keep away from evil, with their Lord, are Gardens underneath which rivers flow wherein they will abide for ever, and pure companions, and goodwill of Allah”. These good manners are appended below:

1.   These people become model role of humility and meekness instead of being proud and arrogance on their piety and sobriety. They always pray from Allah, “Our Lord! Forgive our sins and save us from the Fire of the Hell”.

2.   They remain in patience. Whenever they are put in any trial, they beg from Allah Almighty to bestow them constancy and steadfastness.

3.   These people are honest in their sayings, heart and intentions. They are pure in matters, straightforward, abstinent from telling a lie, deceit and hypocrisy.

4.   They remain firm to obey the commands of Allah Almighty despite undergoing through very hardships; avoid committing evils, and hate from wrong acts and sins.

5.   They spend from the wealth given by Allah Almighty on His determined times, do not be stingy and miser. They take part actively in charitable donations and do not waste any situation of goodness.

6.   They pray for pardon of their sins and errors from their Lord awakening in the last part of night. That is to say; they spend last part of night in worship and likewise they remain seekers of forgiveness from sins sincerely.

We should try to create these qualities into ourselves so that we may also join the company of pious people and may deserve blessings of Allah Almighty.

Quran Chapter 3- 15 (Pt-3, Stg-1) (L-368) -

Retribution for those who fear Allah

Surah ‘Aali-‘Im-raan (The Family of ‘Imran) – Chptr – 3)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

15.  Say: Shall I inform you of something better than that? For those who keep away from evil, with their Lord, are Gardens underneath which rivers flow wherein they will abide for ever, and pure companions, and goodwill of Allah. And Allah is Seer of His Bondmen.
15.  Qul  ‘a-‘unabbi-‘ukum  bi-khayrim-min-  zaalikum.  Lil-laziinat-taqaw  ‘inda  Rabbihim  Jannaatun  tajri  min-  tahtihal-  ‘anhaaru  khaalidiina  fiihaa  wa  ‘azwaajum-mutah-haratunw-wa  rizwaanum-minal—laah.  Wal-laahu  Basiirum- bil-‘ibaad.

Commentary

‘A-‘unabbi-‘ukum – (Shall I inform you?), this word has come out from the word nabaa’ which means the News. Word Nabii has been also made out of it, literal meaning of which is ‘an Informer’.

Mutah-haratun – (pure, neat), that is to say; innocent, pure and clean from each type of corporeal nastiness and filth.

That abode and its characteristics have been described in this lesson, which was mentioned in the previous verse. Allah Almighty says that best of the favors has been reserved for the Abstinent. All excellences of Hereafter are for them only.

Blessings of the world like wealth, children, husbandry and livestock all are fickle and inconstant. These are to be neither trusted nor reliable. To exult into them and make purpose of life to achieve these things and forgetting Allah Almighty is not wise. The benefit should be reaped according to Divine Law and remaining within the limits. One should be afraid of the disobedience of Allah Almighty always and His anguish, and should adopt the way of God fearing, because Allah Almighty has promised for those righteous people to give them such a beautiful Garden, in which there will be cold and sweet water flowing. They will find there good and pious wives, and life of eternity. Best of all, they will get pleasure and consent of Allah Almighty, with which they will get satisfaction of their hearts, comfort and happiness. Only Abstinent people would be able to acquire these blessings.

At last, Allah Almighty describes that He watches every person’s intention and acts. Nothing is hidden from Him, even any most little thing. Therefore, we should be careful, pass our lives righteously and hope for getting reward of our good acts.

Quran Chapter 3- 14 (Pt-3, Stg-1) (L-367) -

Having interest in deadly things

Surah ‘Aali-‘Im-raan (The Family of ‘Imran) – Chptr – 3)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

14.  Beautified for mankind is love of the joys (that come) from women and offspring; and stored-up heaps of gold and silver, and horses branded (with their mark), and cattle and land. That is provision of the life of the world. And Allah! With Him is a more excellent abode.
14.  Zuyyina  linnaasi  hubbush-shahawaati  minan-nisaaa-‘i  wal-baniina  wal-qanaatiiril- muqan-tarati  minazzahabi  wal-fizzati  wal-khay-lil- musawwamati  wal-‘an-‘aami  wal-hars.  Zaalika  mataa-‘ul-hayaatid-dunyaa.  Wallaahu  ‘indaHuu  husnul-ma-‘aab.

Commentary

Zuyyina  linnaasi – (beautified for the humankind), it has been described in this verse that love, inclination and attraction of these things is a natural matter and in itself there is no sin. However, advantage from these things should be reaped; remaining in the subjection of the orders of Divine and their love should be kept limited in the lawful limits.

hubbush-shahawaati – (love of the joys), shahawaat signifies here towards desirable and pleasant things. In this manner it means “Wishes and desires”.

mataa-‘ul-hayyatid-dunyaa – (provision of the life of the world), it intends that all these types of things are not able to be amused very much. These should not be formed as purpose of life. These are useful only in this world. The world is transitory and its all arrangements are mortal also.

Allah Almighty has affirmed that some worldly things have attraction from His Side naturally for the human being. Mankind likes these things very much. But many people involve themselves into them as much that they forget their Creator, their Lord. There is no sin in itself to value these things. These are compulsory things for living in the world. It is not bad to reap benefit from them but care is necessary that inclination towards them should not be more than necessity. Because doing so the human being will become overjoyed into them. Slowly he will consider them purpose of life and forget his goal. He will miss the right path.

It should be borne in mind that these things are transitory. These are useful only in the world. Relationship with them will be cut immediately after death. Therefore, one should arrange also for the Day of Resurrection keeping them at their correct place. Real Abode is there (after death) and permanence is for that life.

Commentary

Allah Almighty has indicated towards an event for the people, who learn a lesson from happenings. This event is famous with the name of “The Battle of Badr”. A war took place between the Muslim Army and the Idolaters’ Army of  Makkah at this occasion. Succor of Allah Almighty reached Muslims, and True and False (Haqq o Baatil) were separated.

Strength of Infidels’ manpower was nearly one thousand in the Battle of Badr. They had seven hundred camels and one hundred horses. Their warriors were much experienced and skilled in fighting. On the other hand, the Muslim warriors were three hundred and thirteen only. They had only seventy camels, two horses, six chain armors and eight swords. Both Armies observed that their opposite were double from them, clearly, with their very eyes. The fear of abundance in number of the Muslims prevailed over the hearts of Infidels and they were terrified.

On the other side, the Muslims paid more attention unto Allah Almighty due to looking the Army of the Infidels double in numbers from them. They were hopeful of victory and support with firmness and stability, placing their trust in the promise of Allah Almighty. If the number of Infidels’ Army did appear in full before Muslims, which were thrice in numbers from them, then it was possible that the fear had to overshadow upon them. However, it is an admonitory event for the discreet people for rendering about a group’s victory, which was small and without means, over such strong group like Infidels, which was threefold more in numbers from them. On that day; the prediction was completed which was described to the Muslims many years ago in Makkah.

We have learnt from this lesson that real thing is patience and trust in Allah Almighty, not abundance of weapons, equipment and manpower. We should have faith in Allah Almighty in all difficulties and pray before Him for support, because entire success and victories are in His Hand.

It is not only one event in the Islamic History like this, which has been described in this verse i.e. the Battle of Badr. But whenever the truth loving people have come out with this passion and fervor in the field to sacrifice, the victory from Allah Almighty has remained with them in the similar circumstances.

Commentary

The Infidels and Idolaters have been warned in the first verse of this lesson that as ancient nations were punished for their infidelity and plurality in Oneness of God, just like them; you will be punished also for such sins.

This verse indicates towards Pharaoh and the nations earlier to him that they falsified the Prophets (peace be upon them), sent by Allah Almighty, refused His tokens and disobeyed His Orders. Allah Almighty seized them in punishment for these entire sins and punished them severely. Therefore, everyone should take warning from those ancient nations, and the existing Infidels and Idolaters should refrain from perverseness. It has been predicted in the second verse that all those Infidels who are enemies of Allah Almighty and His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him), will be overcome soon. The Muslims will defeat them. After being punishable in this world, they will be cast fuel in to the severest Fire of the Hell, which is certainly a resting-place of evil-livers (very bad place).

Two Supplications

Surah ‘Aali-‘Im-raan (The Family of ‘Imran) – Chptr – 3)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

8.  Our Lord! Cause not our hearts to stray after Thou hast guided us, and bestow upon us mercy from Thy Presence. Lo! Thou, only Thou, art the Bestower.
9.  Our Lord! Lo! It is Thou Who gatherest mankind together to a Day of which there is no doubt. Lo! Allah faileth not to keep tryst.
‘InnaKa    ‘Antal-Wahaab.
9.  Rabbanaa  ‘innaKa  jaami- ‘unnaasi  li-Yawmil-laa  rayba  fiih.  ‘InnAllaaha  laa  yukh-liful-mii- ‘aad.

Commentary

Laa  tuzig – (Cause not to stray), the word zay-gun has come in the previous verse, which means “a doubt, crookedness”. This word has also come out from the same root i.e. zay-gun. In the supplication of laa  tuzig; a slave of the Truth begs before God, “Cause not our hearts to stray while once You have guided us and we have found the Right Path”.

Prophet of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) used to supplicate often in these words despite having so much higher grades and splendid perfections, “Yaa Muqal-libal quluubi Sabbit  qalbii ‘alaa  DiiniKa” (O Converter of the hearts! Keep my heart steady upon Your Religion).

The Erudite know that such Day will come when God Almighty will gather the entire humankind together. The people of crooked heart, who used to quarrel in precepts, decision will be settled for all. Every evil-liver will have to settle with punishment due to his crossness in manners and obstinacy. Due to this reason, the well learned persons remain disgusted from such unprincipled persons and are seekers of mercy of Allah Almighty.

God Almighty described the consequence of the Infidels along with the mention of Doomsday that; nothing in the world and on the Day of Resurrection can save them from the punishment of Allah Almighty. The Christian scholars of Najraan did not embrace Islam; only due to the reason that the Christian King would stop to reward them distinguishing gifts in case of their embracing Islam. Here, it has been commanded that the entire wealth and property are accidental and nothing from it will be useful on the Day of Resurrection. Therefore, those people who do not believe in Islam for the sake of only worldly wealth and property or honor and dignity, they must know and recognize that the wealth, property or mass would not be able to save them from the torment.

The entire promises of Allah Almighty are true and He does never fail to keep His tryst. Therefore, every individual should continue doing good acts with perfect certainty of the parts of deeds.
