Quran Chapter 6 – 36 (Pt-7, Stg-2) (L-805) - درس قرآن

Sense is sufficient for acceptance

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

36.  Only those can accept who hear. And as for the dead, Allah will raise them up; then unto Him they will be returned.
36.  ‘Innamaa  yastajii-bul-laziina  yasma-‘uun.  Wal-mawtaa  yab-‘asu-humUllaahu  summa  ‘ilayhi  yurja-‘uun.

Commentary

This verse is an explanation of that Natural Law, towards which, it was signified in the previous verse. That is to say; “it is not the purpose to make everyone Believer by force”. If Allah Almighty willed, He would not have made the minds of entire human beings separate for everyone. Also, He would have made all together in such manner that none might be gone astray but the Straight Path. Nobody would have been given the power of choice.

It is evident that the person, whose heart inclines towards the desires of the world, will never believe, whether he/she is admonished as much as possible. The desires make the ear of the human being hard of hearing. He/she hears nothing but only the word of his own interest. He/she is slave of his/her own business and lives for it only. The ear of such dead people will be opened only on the Day of Resurrection, but then, it will be useless for them.

It is useful if that message and command of Allah Almighty is obeyed in the world, which His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) has caused to hear in the world i.e. Holy Qur’aan and His Sayings. If they did neither accept nor obey then after death, certainly they will be produced before Allah Almighty after bringing them to life. Everything will be evident over them. But that Day’s belief will be useless. They would have to suffer for the disobedience, which they committed in the world. Engage your attention in the meaning of this verse by keeping it under consideration.

It is commanded: Don’t desire from the people with expectation that they will obey you, because only those people will obey you, whose ear have not been closed by their desires. Those persons, who have shut up their ear from listening to the Truth and taken no account of it, they have been as dead and gone. As if they were dead from all other directions in spite of that thing, which took their heart, and they will die keeping their impure worldly wishes in their hearts. And then they will be raised again after bringing to life and produced before Allah Almighty.

At that time, their ear will be opened fully and properly. There is an answer to an evasion of the disbelievers, which they used to say to the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him): You would have such clear tokens that nobody may deny them. Summary of the answer is: If you wish to believe, believe by observing only these tokens, which are before you. The verses of Holy Qur’aan are brightest and most clear tokens of them. These are the verses, in which the attention has been drawn towards those entire Revelations, which have been spread in the whole world. If you desire more clear Revelations than these, then this world will not remain only “The Place of Test”. Believing in the Revelations will become compulsory.

Commentary

The Messenger of Allah Almighty was satisfied in the verse of previous lesson that if these people consider You (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) a liar, then it means that they neglect the Revelations of Allah Almighty, whereas He has revealed the verses of Holy Qur’aan and showed them Signs of His Divine Power in the world also for the purpose that the people may recognize Allah Almighty by thinking into them deeply and obey His Commandments. Allah Almighty has set this way for guidance of the human being in this world that He has fixed symbols and tokens of the straight path, and by giving the sense to the human being, set him free, so that by observing these signs and symbols, he would recognize and adopt the right path himself. If he will not go straight forward, then Allah Almighty will punish him for going astray.

The entire Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon Them) had been patient on the disobedience and Allah Almighty helped Them. The Infidels used to say: Why the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) do not have any such token, by observing which, the humankind would be compelled to believe and may not be able to deny? The lesson in this verse is that in such a way, there is no need to force any individual to be a Believer.

It is commanded that You (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) are unpleasant due to their turning away and disbelieving in the truth. And You (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) want to seek any such thing for their guidance from; either inside the earth or from above the skies, before which they bow their heads and all of them believe. It is possible but it is against the prescribed rules of Allah Almighty.

If Allah Almighty wished, He was Able to make the entire humankind believers, as none could go astray, that is to say; there would have been only one way i.e. the straight path. So, O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him)! Keep this rule secret and understand it thoroughly that it is not the purpose to make everyone Believer by force. Your (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) only duty is to admonish them, whether anyone obeys it or otherwise.

Think not to seek a way down into the earth or a ladder unto the sky that Thou mayst bring unto them a portent to convince them all. And if Allah had willed, He would have brought them all together to the guidance. “We just have to see that who adopts the right path with own common sense”.

Commentary

It was known well from the verse of previous lesson that how much well-wishing and fellow-feeling was filled in the heart of the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) for the human beings. And He grieved and mourned very much, when He used to observe the people gone back from the Straight Path, just like a kind father grieves, when he sees his children entangled in prolix talks and turned away from the useful matters, but very excessive than it, because any father of children cannot know too much about the real useful matter, which Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) knows.

It is revealed that as much any person will be aware of the Reality, so much will he grieve on the stupidities of others. How much Messengers and Prophets (peace be upon Them) came in this world, maximum of them remained overtaken by this grief and trouble that their nations considered them as liars due to their own ignorance. Heartily they faced grief as well as the stupid people put them in different sorts of troubles. But they used to be patient and bear their ill-treatment.

At last, Allah Almighty helped His Messengers and Prophets (peace be upon Them) against the wicked-doers according to the Rule. It appears clearly from Holy Qur’aan that at the end, the wicked people could not succeed. Those people who afflict and disobey the Messengers (peace be upon Them), are not opposing the Messengers (peace be upon Them), but have enmity with Allah Almighty.

Whether they are seen successful apparently, at last, the Rage of God Almighty will surround them and they will be ruined very badly. Allah Almighty says: O Messenger! The Messengers (peace be upon Them) indeed have been denied before You, and They were patient under the denial and the persecution, which is main cause of the grief, till Our succor reached Them and the Messengers (peace be upon Them) won, whereas Their enemies were defeated.

Verily already there has reached You O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) somewhat of the tidings of the Messengers (peace be upon Them) We (Allah Almighty) sent before. You will know from those tidings about the consequence of those people, who opposed the Messengers/Prophets (peace be upon Them). How the Messengers (peace be upon Them) succeed always against their enemies, who were actually enemies of Allah Almighty?

Commentary

It was described in the previous verse that the entire things/creatures of the world are naught save a pastime and a sport. As any intelligent person will not like to pass his whole the time in a sport or game, similarly, every wise person considers it foolishness to remain involved every time in the works of the world.

The Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) used to grieve at the time of observing the people engaged in this folly. He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) had more kindness and favor for the human beings in His heart than a father, who has kindness and favor in his heart for his children.

None is sympathizer of the humankind equal to the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him). Whenever, He used to observe the people wasting their precious time in prolix speaking like the ignorant children, whereas they would have to do such works, which would be useful for them in the world, Hereafter and on the Day of Resurrection, then His heart (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) used to be grieved.

Allah Almighty consoled His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him): O Messenger! Don’t be grieved, nor feel sorrow, and have faith that due to disbelieving in Your Messenger-hood, actually they are going to confront Allah Almighty, and considering those verses and tokens false, which He has revealed in the world to prove You the True Messenger. They are, in fact, opposing Allah Almighty.

Allah Almighty addresses His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) in this verse: We know well how their talk and deeds grieve You. But their presumptuousness and stupid-ness will never end. Therefore feeling sorrow upon them is like hurting Your soul Yourself. You should take it as “Apparently they are saying to you a liar” but actually they are flouting the Revelations and verses sent down by Allah Almighty. So certainly they will be punished by Him. Their case should be given up for decision by Allah Almighty.

They have made themselves blameworthy at fault and offenders in two ways.

1.    Disobedience of Allah Almighty openly.

2.    Giving pain to the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) by their behavior.

O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him)! You should have patience. Surely Allah Almighty will punish them very severely, if they did not abstain. It is known clearly from this verse that the person, who does not follow the Commands of Allah Almighty, mentioned in Holy Qur’aan and the Sayings of His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), has been hurting the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him).

Commentary

It has been being described in the previous verses that the humankind casts behind the Commands of Allah Almighty by indulging in embarrassment of his own desires. He/she does never think: I would have to get the retribution in the life after death for those deeds, which I have been doing in this world, and I would have to be set before Allah Almighty and answer His questions. And it will never be possible; either to cheat Him or try to be saved from His punishment by providing any false statement before Him. An abstract to this effect has been given in the verse of today’s lesson, and complete reality of the life of this world has been described briefly.

It is commanded that the life of the world is Naught but only a pastime and a sport. Every person who has sense whether only a little, can understand easily that any sport is the name of amusement for a short time. It is impossible to play every time. Everyone should understand properly that this world is an accidental thing for a few days. Neither any person could live in it forever, and nor can stay.

That person, who has been involved in only worldly works and passes his/her entire time for thinking about worldly benefits only, is like him, who wastes his whole time in a sport. Any wise person cannot say him “a sensible, laborious or active person”. And then it is also sure that any time he/she is weary of playing. Such a condition is of that person, who has been entangled in the world. Many desires grow in his heart. He runs behind all of them and wishes to keep his pleasure stable. But after some time either he is tired of it or after fulfillment of the desire his heart is disgusted and he feels ashamed on his deed. Even he reaches, at last, such stage that his strength becomes disabling. Being wearied he lies down and does not remain able to fulfill his wishes. He uses to long for fulfilling his desires, but his physical and mental strength and power do not cooperate with him.

Contrary to above, neither will he feel ever tired of fulfilling the desires, which will be for the life of the Last Day, nor his power and strength will end, nor any weakness, illness, grief, sorrow, confusion and nor will death-like anything be the next. That life can be acquired only in this way that the person should fear Allah Almighty, which means that “having fear of His punishment, every forbidden thing and deed should be given up in the world”. And better far is the abode of the Hereafter for those who keep their duty to Allah Almighty. Have you then no sense that you would have to choose the perpetual thing by leaving any casual thing?

Commentary

Allah Allah – how the Holy Qur’aan causes to understand us much obviously that: You should live in the world like humankind. “See! You are not animals. You have a good sense, knowledge and better power of understanding than others. Is it useful to make efforts only like animals but with a little civilized manner, having this understanding, knowledge and sense, while you are created as human beings? As though, it is the only difference among animals and human beings that the animals fulfill their desires awkwardly and they do not make any improvement in the way of fulfilling their wishes. but on the other hand, the mankind finds new ways by searching day by day to fulfill one’s bodily desires and improves constantly, whereas, it should be the job of mankind’s sense that he should not be the slave of his desires. Moreover, he should know own Creator and subject his desires to His Commands.

The Holy Qur’aan causes to learn the same that the human being would have to bring his sense in use for knowing Allah Almighty (The Creator), considering His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) as one’s own Guide and acting upon the commands of Holy Qur’aan. And bear in mind always that everyone would be set before Allah Almighty after death on the Day of Resurrection. And whatsoever, he has done in the world; he would have to clear his accounts of all worldly deeds, whether those are good or bad. The humankind will not get rid of his deeds without clearing them and he will be punished very severely as retribution of his wicked acts.

It is commanded that the person, who does not believe during whole life in it that he will be set before Allah Almighty on the Day of Judgment, evil days will fall upon him completely. The Doomsday shall come; certainly the Day of Resurrection shall come. Those people who neglected it and the Judgment Day reached and overpowered them suddenly, and then they will have nothing but regret, sorrow and repentance.

At that time, they will be wonder-struck and will say: Alas for us, that we neglected it and we did not get ready for this Day! They will be in such condition that the wicked deeds, which they committed in the world and how much they enjoyed to revel by putting the Holy Qur’aan behind their back, they will have been bearing upon their backs; the load of their all evil deeds. Neither they will be able to drop and put a side, and nor throw that burden. On that Day; they will know: How much weighty and heart-breaking is that burden of evil deeds. It will be better for them, if they understand well this matter today.

Do not forget the Day of Resurrection - Quran Chapter 6 – 29 & 30 (Pt-7, Stg-2) (L-799) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 6 – 29 & 30 (Pt-7, Stg-2) (L-799) - درس قرآن

Do not forget the Day of Resurrection

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

Summary of both verses discussed in the previous lesson is, “Don’t forget the Day of Resurrection (Rising Again after death) by indulging in romances and fables of the world, and believe in the Unseen Judgment Day and the concealed Hell, otherwise it will not be useful for you if you believed after observing them. And the retribution for infidelity and denial in the world will be very severe punishment on the Doomsday.

It is the universal law, according to which, Islam desires to teach the Humankind to dwell in the world. Without understanding it properly, it is impossible to pass the time of this worldly life well efficiently. How much this rule will be cleared and manifested and kept in mind, so much the human being will really be matured, otherwise living a successful life in the Hereafter is not possible.

The mankind wishes to fulfill his all desires without any hindrance. But if he considers that he will be able to fulfill his desires with the help of material things, then it is his false notion, because one of his wishes can never be fulfilled in the world, which is “To live always”. Neither has anyone remained living in the world forever and nor can live. The open consequence comes out from it that the entire things of the world, like wealth and property, power and honor, laughter and jest, pleasure and delight will be kept back, and at last, the human being will begin his next journey, (giving up everything here) which will start after death.

Holy Qur’aan describes that the hearty object of the human being “That should be fulfilled, what I wish”, will be fulfilled but after death and on the condition that he was not slave of his desires in the world. Moreover, he/she should dwell in the world in accord with the Commands of Allah Almighty and believe in it that “If I shall follow the Commands of Allah Almighty and the Sayings of His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), instead of following my own desires, then after death, my all desires will be fulfilled in the Gardens (Paradise). And I shall be given such a life, which will never be expire-able.

This is the lesson which has made the people to understand in Holy Qur’aan again and again. Such people have been censured in the verses under reference (29 & 30), who say: There is naught save our life of the world, and we shall not be raised (again). Those people have been engaged to fulfill their desires. It has been explained here that this thought is the root of destruction as well as it is against the sense because, while every human being desires naturally that “My all wishes should be fulfilled” and those cannot be fulfilled in this world, then he must be provided opportunity to fulfill his natural desire, otherwise his humanity will not be perfect.

Islam teaches that after death his desires will be fulfilled but not of all. Moreover, only that person’s desires will be fulfilled, who does not want to complete his all wishes here, and acts upon those commandments, which Holy Qur’aan taught him/her. And he/she does not go near those deeds, which have been prevented by the Holy Qur’aan and Sunnah. Such person will live a best life forever after death, and his/her every desire will be fulfilled without any further labor and hard work. Collection of that gain is called “Paradise”, that is to say; fulfillment of every desire.
