Order about wealth and property - Quran Chapter 9 – 35 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1179) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 9 – 35 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1179) - درس قرآن

Order about wealth and property

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

The mania of hoarding money, wealth and property is mounted on the people since long. And nowadays; everyone desires nothing but to collect these things. This is a kind of madness, which has crossed the limits. Some very learned people say: Islam did not prevent any person from earning money, described only that you should pay the poor-due regularly @ 2-1/2%. Then, you can collect as much as you wish, there is no restriction. Every individual is free for earning, he can earn according to own will, however paying the poor-due is necessary. Then he can enjoy.

It is known after consideration that it is not the Spirit of Holy Qur-‘aan and the teachings of the Sayings of Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him). Those people; who consider as mentioned above, their aim is “Earn the money well and eat, so that; you may be able to pay the poor-due and deserve the future reward of this virtue”, as paying the Poor-due and Pilgrimage were for persuading of hoarding.

The simple fact is that the money is for fulfilling own requirements, for example grains and clothes etc. Actual object is not money itself but a source of providing necessities of life. Therefore, every human being would have to receive easily as much money, by paying which, he may get the things of his comfort smoothly.

How must everyone receive this money? The way of it is that he should do any work or labor for welfare of other people, and as its compensation, he must be provided money in accordance with his requirement. It is the Code of Islam about the labor; that every person should work hard according to his ability, for providing advantage to the society. Moreover, he should not intend to earn money, but think that “I have been working for providing advantage to my other brothers, only for the sake of God Almighty”.

After that, it is the duty of those people, who appointed him for any work; that such person must be paid so much that he may pass his life comfortably at his leisure. This individual should spend this earning in his requirements without extravagance. This is his lawful earning. If some money has been saved from it, that should be sacrificed for the welfare of any other. And he may deposit it also. When this deposit reaches the capital of paying the poor-due, then he should pay it, which will be spent by the Government for help and support of the crippled, the helpless and the poor people. If even then, something is saved, then he should perform Hajj (Pilgrimage), on the condition that he has fulfilled other terms.

Which method of hoarding the wealth is in force nowadays, in which one has to tyrannize and plunder others, it is against the Spirit of Islam. With it; the money is deposited in a few hands, remaining people desire anxiously for necessary thing. From such wealth, the Poor-due, Hajj, and Alms etc. nothing is accepted by God Almighty, because this way is full of tyranny and oppression.

Burden of the wealth - Quran Chapter 9 – 35 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1178) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 9 – 35 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1178) - درس قرآن

Burden of the wealth

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

35.  On the Day when it will (all) be heated in the fire of Hell, and their foreheads and their flanks and their backs will be branded therewith (and it will be said unto them): Here is that which ye hoarded for yourselves; now taste of what ye used to hoard.
35.  Yawma  yuhmaa  ‘alay-haa  fii  Naari  Jahannama  fatukwaa  bihaa  jibaahu-hum  wa  junuu-buhum  wa  zuhuuruhum.  Haazaa  maa  kanaztum  li-‘anfu-sikum  fa-zuuquu  maa  kuntum  taknizuun.

Commentary

Yuhmaa – (will be ignited), this word is from ham-yun, which means “sharpening of the fire rapidly”. The aim from the word yuhmaa is that “the fire of Hell will be sharpened on the hoarded wealth”.

Tukwaa – (will be branded), the origin of this word is kay-yun, which means “making a mark on the body by a hot iron piece”. That is to say; to heat up anything so much that it becomes red, then put it on the body, by which a burning mark appears on the body.

Summary of this verse is “The Saying of God’s Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), which is often repeated in the Sermon of Friday i.e. ‘Al-kanzu  kay-yum-minan-Naar. (It aims that the treasure will be just like an iron piece, which will be heated up to the point of redness and then body of the hoarder will be branded with it).

It means that in this world, everyone has made it (hoarding the wealth) his biggest occupation, and being entangled in its love, some people are seen enjoying themselves apparently, although, in fact, they suffer, but against their wealth, they slight their sufferings. Verily, if you consider the fact, you will observe that in the world too, the riches and the wealth causes worries, even that sometimes, hunger, thirst and sleep etc. disappear in its worry, even that, one has no hope of life. Moreover, after death, this wealth will be useless save giving pain.

To experience, a man should keep a penny on his palm after making it red on the fire. That penny will brand on his palm. After that he must meditate: The entire gold and silver etc. which he has hoarded; will be heated in the fire of the Hell, not in the ordinary fire of this world, then it will be placed on the body of the rich, and it will not be removed until it becomes cold. When it will become cold then, again it be heated and placed on the body. And this practice will be continued. What will he feel at that time?

Mufasseriin (the commentators) have explained that if you say to any miser for giving some money for a good work, then at first, he will be angry. If you say again and again, then he will turn away and evade. Therefore, these three body parts will be branded i.e. forehead, flank and back. If you desire to be saved from the torment, then you should not hoard but spend in the Way of God Almighty.

Punishment due to collecting Wealth - Quran Chapter 9 – 34b (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1177) - درس قرآن

34b.  And they who hoard up gold and silver and spend it not in the Way of Allah, unto them give tiding (O Muhammad) of a painful doom-
34b.  Wallaziina  yaknizuu-naz-zahaba  wal-fizzata  wa  laa  yunfiquu-nahaa  fii  Sabii-LIllaahi,  fabash-shirhum-  bi-‘azaabin  ‘aliim.

Commentary

Yaknizuuna – (they hoard up), this word is from kanz, which means “to hoard, to collect, to deposit and to accumulate” the money; whether in the chests of drawers or in the banks or bury in the earth. Kanz means “treasury” also, that is to say; the place where the wealth is deposited.

It was described previously that the rabbis, monks and spiritual guides of the People of the Scripture dropped behind collecting the wealth. They used to tell the people untrue matters keeping in view their ease and began to heap up and collect charity, alms, offerings, gifts and oblations etc. from them in retaliation.

Foremost, they come in the category of those people, who run after collecting the wealth. Therefore, one punishment for them is that they have been collecting the wealth unlawfully. Secondly, another separate punishment for them is that in the disguise of the religion, they receive money recklessly from the people by deceiving them. This crime of theirs is the biggest, that they have been aspersing, disgracing and spoiling the religion. Painful doom for such people, who hoard up the wealth, has been described in this verse.

It is commanded: {O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him)}! Cause to hear those people, who have been collecting the wealth and depositing it in the treasures, chests of drawers or banks, and do not spend in the Way of God Almighty! Only this tiding is for you that such punishment will be given to you, due to suffering and pain of which, you will scream. Mention of this torment comes after it.

This punishment is for those people, who accumulate the wealth by lawful earnings. And those people who collect the wealth by unlawful ways, they will be involved in the same difficulties, but in addition to it, they will be punished due to committing unlawful deeds separately.

Every that way of collecting the money, due to which, the condition of other people is deteriorated or in which improper benefit is reaped from any other’s misery or necessity, becomes unlawful. Paying the poor-due is also not acceptable from it, because the wealth is a good thing which must be spent on good works. The individual, who hoards it up instead of spending at any correct place, is ingrate of the blessing of God Almighty and he will be punished for it.

Commentary

In the previous verse, it was planned that the Religion of Truth must prevail over all religions, that the Believers should strive heartily in fulfilling the plan of God Almighty. It has been described in this verse that the Believers must remain vigilant about “which ways can be used to stop the prevalence of the Religion of Truth”? Which stoppages exist in the Path of the Religion? Removing those hindrances is the duty of the Believers. The Religion of Truth will be lightened automatically. These hindrances had been working in the previous nations, that is to say; the Jews and the Christians. It is the reason that the attention has been drawn unto their present time.

It is commanded that you have believed in God Almighty. Spreading His Religion is duty of yours. The same duty was of the people before you during their times. But they could not fulfill it. Its first reason was that their learned and effectual people were entangled in the greediness and involved in selfishness.

When they had turned away from the world for the duty of the religion, then they were required not to turn back towards the worldly matters. But they observed: The people have trust in us and obey our commands, because we are accepted as the scholars of the religion, so we should receive money and wealth from them as reprisal of performing such duty.

When the people began to pay them gifts and oblations, then along with it, they demanded: Tell us commandments; which are useful and beneficial for us. Their rabbis and monks beheld: Verily we should give them facilities. There is no loss of us in it; if their demand is fulfilled and we get away the retaliation as we desire. What can be better than it? Accordingly, they filled their belly, but could not establish the Path of God Almighty in the world, and in this manner, the religion was destroyed.

This evil must not spread in the Muslims’ brotherhood. It is the duty of the doctors, the spiritual guides and the scholars of the religion that they should not ruin the religion due to greediness of the wealth and world, and deliver only those commandments to the people, which have been prescribed for them in the Religion of Truth.

Scheme of Allah – 2 - Quran Chapter 9 – 33 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1175) - درس قرآن

Scheme of Allah – 2

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

Summary of the previous lesson is that - it was necessary for management of human life in the world that a particular way for the mankind should be determined, which must be adopted by him, just like the particular ways have been prescribed for other all kinds of creatures. One peculiarity of the human being is that such path, which God Almighty has determined, the mankind would have to discover and recognize with his sense and effort. This specialty does not exist in the animals. They do not discover their path by the power of their sense, because they do not have such powerful wisdom. Which sense they have, that searches and finds only immediate solution of the casual problems, which are faced by them at the time of any particular necessity and internal requirements, and that is the same, which is suitable for their kind only.

Human sense is very sharp, but it is indigent of a particular Light for finding the Path. If this Light does not exist, then; it will find some one or other path, but such path is not the straight one, which has been determined for his kind by the Creator of the entire World. It was the reason that Allah Almighty sent His Messengers (peace be upon them) from time to time, and They provided such Light for the human sense, in which it may see the Straight Path.

The last Messenger of God Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) showed the human being Himself by going on that Path practically, that they should follow Him, and its main signs were put before them. Collection of those signs is Holy Qur-‘aan. And going on in accordance with Its Instructions is called “the Religion of Truth”, which He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) has prescribed practically. That is available with us in the collections of His Sayings (Hadith).

It is duty of our wisdom and sense that it should recognize the True Religion in the Light of Holy Qur-‘aan and Hadith and adopt that Path, and it is our responsibility that we should establish that Religion in the world, and the betterment of the human being depends on fulfilling this responsibility.

It is incumbent for fulfilling its responsibility that in the world, which confusion, disturbance, quarrels, wars and battles spread for the people, due to their narrow-mindedness and unreasonable desires, should be annihilated. Therefore, first aim of Muslims is “Preserving safety and peace”. Upon it, it depends that “The sense should be provided time for looking deeply and the human being must accept the Religion of Truth after necessary consideration.

God Almighty has decided to cause to prevail the Religion of Truth. Therefore, it is duty of the Muslims that they should establish peace, so that the sense of the mankind should turn its attention to this side properly. After that, it is not possible that the Religion of Truth does not overcome.

There are two ways for establishing the peace and safety:

·        An international organization of the entire people of the world must be established, and it must take responsibility of settling mutual disputes, based on selfishness and useless.

·        A world war must be fought, in which all villain people are ruined.

Islam supports the First point. But if it becomes necessary to accept the second point due to any compulsion, then Islam is on the side of those who ruin the mischievous and rebellious people and it will remove them by joining the team. And if someone is not found then it should get ready itself for this purpose.

Commentary

It was commanded in the previous verse that God Almighty has determined to spread His Light, though the foolish people, who do not believe in Allah Almighty, do not consider it necessary. Moreover, they perceive it disruptive in their freedom. Even then, God Almighty shall spread it. Its reason is that; as an eye needs light for looking, just like this, human sense needs a particular Light for working properly. Such matter has been narrated in this verse that “what this Light is and how it has been spread?”

It is commanded that this Light is for looking such Path which has been confirmed for going on naturally for the human being. There are many other random paths which the people have fixed by the personal internal and innate power of working by their wisdom. But the Straight Path cannot be known only with the sense and wisdom. For this purpose, God Almighty sent His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) in the world, giving Him Knowledge of the Right Path. And that Knowledge has been placed in the Verses of Holy Qur-‘aan.

This Holy Qur-‘aan is the Light and the Guidance. When the sense will behold around itself in the Light of Holy Qur-‘aan, then it will find clearly the Straight Path and choose that Path; leaving all other paths. The name of that Path is “the Religion of Truth”. As Holy Qur-‘aan is the Guidance and the Light for the human sense, in this Light; intellect will see the True Path “the Religion of Truth” prominent and overcoming in the middle of all other paths.

The Idolaters; who do not want to take work from this Light, on the contrary, they wish to put it out, they are in the darkness. This Path is not visible to them. Their wisdom searches and sorts out the paths for them from hither and thither, and they like any of those paths. They do not accept the Guidance of God’s Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) i.e. Holy Qur-‘an.

However, they accept it or dislike, it is equal. Those people who have eyes, they see such things in this Light; which cannot be seen by others, who see in the darkness with their artificial lights. The Religion of Truth is the Light of God Almighty and that is safe in the Holy Qur-‘aan. Sayings (Ahaadith) of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) are means of Its spreading.

Power of the Religion - 2 - Quran Chapter 9 – 32 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1173) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 9 – 32 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1173) - درس قرآن

Power of the Religion - 2

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

The emperors of the world do nothing, but can do nothing without help and support of their courtiers, governors and ministers etc. like this; they think that God, Who is Omnipotent, can also do nothing without making them His partners in management. They did not know the Grace of God, Eminent is His Glory, and considered that He is too necessitous of governors and ministers like a common mortal king. Whereas Allah Almighty is He; Who is never indigent of anything in any work. He says only “Be” and that is. Moreover, as soon as He desires, the work is automatically done.

In this verse, state of all those people has been narrated who wish to finish Islam. It is commanded that, for removing the latent darkness of the world, God Almighty created the Religion of Truth as treasure of the Lights. If this treasure is no more, then human sense can never find the Straight Path save trying to do something in the darkness and groping, it will never find the light and nor do something. The human wisdom is entirely blind until it uses the Light of the Religion of Truth, as; apparent eye can see nothing without light, like this; the eye of the heart, that is to say; sense and wisdom cannot see anything correctly without the Revelation of God Almighty. Some people try their best to provide material of light for wisdom at their own, so that the necessity of the Religion of Truth is over. But those ignorant do not know that if they invented some principles according to their sense and tried to cause to enter it in the hearts of the people by their shred-like narrations, then they themselves also cannot be independent from the Religion of Truth and nor they can set others, because artificial things cannot dim the rays of natural Light.

God Almighty, Who is Creator and Organizer of this all universe, He has determined the Religion of Truth as a source of Light for the human wisdom. And this Light cannot be extinguished by blowing with breathes, but how much they will try to extinguish it with their self-invented principles, so much more its brightness will increase. Whether those people, who deny, like it or otherwise, God Almighty has decided to spread it in all conditions.

This claim has been confirmed by the afterward events. In the beginning, the Idolaters and the people of the Scripture tried their best to finish this Religion, but they could do nothing. And this latent Sun (Islam) did shine with much glitter for transmitting the Light to the entire world. These people did not refrain from their enmity and conspiracies, but they could not stop from spreading its Light.

Nowadays, they know, who are knowers that the philosophers and the scientists are forced to accept it today after wandering hither and thither for a long time, and the wise people say that if there can be a better for human beings, that is possible only by following the precepts of Islam, otherwise their destruction is mandatory.
