Commentary
It was described in the
previous lesson that the human being is confounded at that time, when any
affliction comes and none can help him, whereas, he would have taken warning
from small accidents and turned towards Allah Almighty immediately.
In this lesson, the attention
has been drawn towards the people of old times and commanded that the people of
present time should take a lesson by considering thoughtfully their
circumstances: It is the fixed rule to admonish the humankind that at
first, Allah Almighty sends His Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon
Them) among the people.
When the people neither incline
towards the Prophet or Messenger (peace be upon Him) and nor listen to the
Revelations, revealed upon Him (peace be upon Him), then tribulations and
adversities are sent down for them, so that they should lean
before Allah Almighty hopelessly and grow humble, knowing His Power.
Even hereupon, the stupidity,
obstinacy and perverseness of the human beings harden their hearts and Satan
produces evil things of the world making them beautiful before the people.
It is commanded: O Messenger
(grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him)! We certainly sent Our
Messengers (peace be upon Them) unto peoples that were before Thee. When the
people did not obey Them fairly, then some tribulation and adversity were
revealed upon them in order that they might grow humble. But on the contrary,
their hearts were hardened and the Devil produced before them their evil deeds
as good works, and they were entangled into them being careless entirely
from Allah Almighty.
It is known clearly from these
verses that whenever people are entangled in evil deeds and bad habits, and
disobey the Messengers’ advice, then famine, plague, storms and quakes etc. are
sent down, for the purpose that they should bow before Allah Almighty and
beg pardon of Allah Almighty.
