122. Is he who was dead and We have raised him unto life,
and set for him a light wherein he walketh among men, as him whose similitude
is in utter darkness whence he cannot emerge? Thus is their conduct made
fair-seeming for the disbelievers.

Commentary
In the previous verses, the
commands regarding the dead animal and that over which the name of Allah
mentioned at the time of slaughtering was described that the dead animal is
abomination, forbidden, unlawful and unfit for food, whereas those animals,
meat of which is permitted to be eaten and whereon the name of Allah has been
mentioned during their slaughtering; are lawful and fit for food.
It was commanded too that those
people who do not obey Allah Almighty, His last Messenger (grace, glory,
blessings and peace be upon Him) and the last Scripture i.e. Holy Qur’an,
they are not able to be heard. The same reality has been caused here to
understand by means of an example.
It has been described by Allah
Almighty that a man was dead (gloomy) due to ignorance and error. Then We
bestowed him the soul of Belief and brought him to life. After that, We
presented a Light for him, by which, he understands well looking everything,
walks among the people with the same and can observe goodness and badness of
their matters.
Whether a person may be the
equivalent of him, who has been encircled in various kinds of darkness and
there is no form of his coming out from them? Neither his heart is living which
may be by the perfect belief, and nor he has any Light with which he may see
the things around and distinguish in good and bad.
In such darkness, he takes
everything, only those things which either he possesses or someone has caused
him to be caught. Except them, neither he can see anything and nor understand,
because the darkness is in his eyes and his heart is imperfect. The veils of
ignorance have been, clouds of bias have overcast him and the people like him
have been corroborating him continuously.
It is the reason that he has
been overwhelming in his own wrong deeds. These are the dimness and darkness
which have surrounded him. Nothing is valuable before his eyes except his own
deeds, matters and thinking. It is clear that either only he is, who likes his
own business or those people can accept who are like him.
Those people who have eyes to
see and the Light with them, cannot accept their evil deeds because they can
observe their goodness and badness with these both things. It can be understood
from this discussion easily that how those people take these things as good who
have fallen in the darkness?
Whereas, neither they have a
living soul and nor the Light, then, how can they see the badness of these
matters and deeds? According to the prescribed and established order, it is
commanded: We have made for them their conduct as fair-seeming. They do not
have the instruments, with which they may see and examine the good things.
