Turning away from the Noble Qur’an - Quran Chapter 6 – 157b (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-914) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 6 – 157b (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-914) - درس قرآن

Turning away from the Noble Qur’an

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

157b.  Now hath there come unto you a Clear Proof from your Lord, a Guidance and Mercy, who then doeth greater wrong than he who denieth the Revelations of Allah, and turneth away from them? We award unto those who turn away from Our Revelations an evil doom because of their aversion.
157b.  Faqad  jaaa-‘akum  Bayyi-natum-mir-Rabbikum  wa Hudanw-wa Rahmah. Faman ‘azlamu  mimman  kazzaba  bi- ‘AayaaTillaahi  wa  sadafa  ‘anhaa.  Sa-naj-zillaziina  yas-difuuna  ‘an  ‘Aayaati-Naa  suuu-‘al-‘azaabi  bimaa  kaanuu  yasdifuun.

Commentary

Sadafa – (turned away), it is a past tense and has been derived from sadfun, which means “to turn away, to shrink from, to decline”. The word Yasdifuun has also come out from the same word.

It was declared in the previous verse that now the people cannot say: No Scripture was revealed unto us. If the Scripture had been revealed unto us, we surely would have been better guided than are they.

Now has there come unto you better than all the Scriptures; named ‘Al-Qur’an, which is a spring of Guidance. If you did not obey the commands mentioned in It, you would be the biggest transgressors.

It is commanded that this Scripture has reached you from your Lord Almighty. It has very clear proofs and evidence. It guides towards the Straight Path. And that, what it contains from its beginning to end, is useful only for you (Its believers). It is the Mercy of your Lord, which has He revealed for you.

It is the Book, in which these entire characteristics and such qualities exist, which do not have any end, ready to guide every time, present for help in all conditions, useful in constraint times, guarantor of the prosperity of own believers, honor and glory, ground provider to connect with the Creator.

If It (Holy Qur’an) is ignored and one is engaged in spam talks by throwing Its commands behind, then certainly it is the worst adversity and sign of ill-luck. Now you should tell: If someone forgets such conducive and salutary Book, and turns away from It, then who can be more loser and chopper of own feet than him?

Giving It up is extremely oppression, which can be done by anyone upon himself, also upon the human beings. Certainly he would have to be punished severely. Allah Almighty says: We have chosen worst wrath for such people. They will face punishment of their negligence in this world (entire national honor and respect will be snatched from them) as well as they will not be in ease and comfort after death.

The people of Makkah were caused to hear these verses. Very few people believed in the verses. Remaining all people heard from one ear and blew out from the other. The history witnesses that in what manner, the success was granted to the Believers and how much they were promoted, whereas at the other side, in what manner, the Disbelievers came in the grip of disgrace and distress. Those handful Believers beat severely the Disbelievers. Neither their unity on the wrong things rendered any good service and nor their so much Arms and Equipment benefited them. The Message is the same and still even today. The hearers should use their senses.

Commentary

It was described earlier that Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) was given Torah, and in it, those entire appropriate Rules, which were revealed on different occasions before it, were gathered clearly for the mankind. After that, the same Scripture remained a competent Manual for a long time.

The Psalms of Prophet David and the Gospel of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon Them), which were revealed after the Torah, should be considered as parts of Torah with some amendments, which were necessary to be made with the passage of time. After that, the time kept its own speed and along with it, the condition of the human being got changing with the passage of time, even such time reached, when the entire Commandments were required to be assembled in one Scripture for the entire human beings, so that afterwards, they would not have to go towards someone else for guidance, and from this Scripture, necessary and required commands may be obtained for each situation.

That blessed Scripture is this Holy Qur’an. It is blessed for the reason that such a fountain of guidance has been springing from It, which will never end. The thing, which is limited in terms of the form, but it has unlimited and endless benefits, is called “Blessed”.

It is commanded by God Almighty: Now We have revealed this Scripture (Qur’an) after Torah for the guidance of the entire mankind. Summary of it is that its blessings and bounties will never end, and as long as this world shall stand, guidance for the human being shall spring out from It.

Whenever the mankind will incline towards It (Holy Qur’an), It will cause to understand them the path to follow according to their own condition. After consulting It, no one will have to go anywhere for guidance. Therefore, you should hold It fast and be saved from Its enmity.

There is fear in Its opposition that you will be entangled in any big trouble. But if you followed the Commands; It contains, then the Mercy of Allah Almighty would be upon you and you would be saved from all kinds of disasters and calamities.

Now there is no occasion for you to say that Torah and Gospel were revealed only for the Jews and the Christians, we don’t know, what has been written into Those Scriptures. Allah Almighty commands: We have fulfilled your desire that! Would that any Scripture had reached us, then we would have shown of following its commands fully, and we would have proved that we were better followers of the Scripture than the Jews and the Christians. Lo! Show now acting upon this Scripture (Holy Qur’an).

Commentary

The commands, mentioned in the first three verses of this Section, which we discussed in the previous lesson, have been prescribed for the entire human beings always and as many Prophets (peace be upon Them) came from the beginning, they all used to convey and admonish the same commands to the people according to the occasion. Every Prophet (peace be upon Him) came unto His nation for manifesting the badness of that particular evil, in which more people of that time were involved and He tried to remove that evil from human beings.

In the same manner, the Scripture Torah was bestowed to Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him), and in it, complete Rules were mentioned for the people, so that they may do good, and entire commands were caused to understand in detail. It was a complete Code of Human Life, and no stone was left unturned to manifest that Code for the good people according to that era.

Allah Almighty commands: You have listened to those Rules, which We have prescribed from the beginning, for the mankind to live in this world. These are the Rules, which the Prophets (peace be upon Them) used to explain before the human beings every time. Which Prophet (peace be upon Him) used to observe any particular evil among His nation, which was opposite to any of the afore-mentioned Rules, He used to press upon that Rule, during His time.

After that, when the time of Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him) came and the tyrant Pharaoh of Egypt overpowered the Children of Israel, as much that they were half-dead, then Allah Almighty caused to discharge them from his grasp through Prophet Moses (peace be upon Him). And for their guidance, the Prophet (peace be upon Him) was given the Scripture.

In that Scripture, Allah Almighty explained everything according to that period so that It may guide those people at every difficult time and the opportunity may meet them to know their Creator and Lord. And they may have full faith in it, that they would have to meet with Allah Almighty after death, where the obedient will be awarded and the disobedient will be punished severely.

First Book of Divine Law is Torah in the world and the Children of Israel are the first nation, which was bestowed with the complete Religious Law of Allah Almighty, which was according to the circumstances of that time. The Psalms of Prophet David (peace be upon Him) was “the Supplement” of that first Scripture i.e. Torah. The Gospel was revealed to support Its one aspect, which was necessary to be strengthened in the terms of the time. Then substance of all those Scriptures and decent version is Holy Qur’an, Which is sufficient for all times. It will be discussed in the next lesson.

The Straight Path - Quran Chapter 6 – 152b & 153 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-911) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 6 – 152b & 153 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-911) - درس قرآن

The Straight Path

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

In the previous three verses, principles of successful life have been explained for the mankind. When you will recite these blessed verses, you will have no doubt in it that “if the sense of humankind does not work in the light of these verses, then it can do nothing except that it goes in the darkness by catching the finger of Satan.

It is the only way of deliverance of the human being from calamities of life that he should go Straight Path with full belief. These are the entire rules of human culture, upon which, human perfection, mental, economic, collective and political development depends. The commands, which have been described in the verses along with their aims themselves, are as under:

La- ‘allakum  ta’-qiluun – (in order that you may use your sense and wisdom).

La- ‘allakum  tazakkaruun – (that haply you may learn entire matters regarding your own goodness).

La-‘allakum  tattaquun – (that you may be saved from all kinds of evil and wicked deeds)

Summary of it has been appended below:

1.    Ascribe nothing as partner unto Allah Almighty. Practical result of it is that neither the mankind should flatter nor be afraid from any person. Moreover he should have faith that anyone can not give me anything, nor can snatch. I can respect everyone in the world considering that we all are equal. My Greatest and Lord is none but Allah Almighty and there is no any reason that I should fear from anyone except Him, because without His Command, all are as helpless as I am.

2.    Do good to parents. Here it is commanded that you should do good with closest kinsfolk, but considering from it is not too much difficult that relationship of the human being does not end here, but it spreads in the entire world gradually. Therefore, every mankind deserves everyone’s good behavior step by step.

3.    Slay not your children in any case. The Arabs used to kill their children, but according to this verse, the hidden killing has also been forbidden, i.e. habituating the children to commit evil for the purpose of earning, because, cause of both reasons is fear of poverty. After preventing from it, Allah Almighty commands: Don’t worry; We give livelihood. It is the verification of the wise people that the society; that is to say; the assembly of the humankind is viceroy of Allah Almighty in the world. So it is the duty of every human being that he should do all those works, for which Allah Almighty has taken responsibility.

4.    Draw not nigh to lewd things. It means that all such immortal deeds, which induce unreasonable desires, have been forbidden.

5.    Don’t kill any person until the law does not permit.

6.    Don’t embezzle the wealth of orphans, but you should protect it, till they reach maturity. There is a command in it about the safety of life and wealth of all weak and old people, and the society i.e. viceroys of the Creator should perform this duty.

7.    Do justice among mutual affairs; give full measure and full weight.

8.    Establish the Religion mutually all together because you have made covenant with Allah Almighty.

9.    It is the demand of the Religion that Muslims should never be disunited.

If the mankinds use their sense properly, they can find entire ways for their betterment and pass a peaceful life.

Commentary

Those commands, which have been described in the beginning of this Section, in that connection, some more orders have been mentioned in this verse.

It is commanded that believing in Allah Almighty is, as though, fulfilling the covenant that we shall obey Your (God’s) entire commands without any dispute. It cannot be so, that one believes in Allah Almighty, even then, disobeys Him. Actually that person has not believed in Allah Almighty, who disobeyed Him. That individual took responsibility to obey, who believed. So you should fulfill this covenant.

These commands are being caused to hear you so that you may remember your covenant and may not slip after accepting. One more object to recite this command is that the Straight Path of Allah Almighty may be manifested upon you. Therefore, you should listen to those, which verses are being recited before you; it is the appointed Straight Path of Allah Almighty. It was taught you in Surah ‘Al-Faatihah (Chapter – 1) that you should pray from Allah Almighty: ‘Ihdinas-Siraatal-Mustaqiim. (Show us the Straight Path). Now, that Straight Path has been manifested on you. So you should hold fast this Path. If you will go the way other than this, you will go astray.

It is learnt from this verse that the Muslims should be saved from their mutual dissensions because one Religion and one Path has been fixed for them and they have been guided to remain firm on It. If they differed, then it is clear that they all will go separate paths instead of adopting One Path. It has been warned that you should not seek other paths leaving the One, otherwise you will lose your Way. Support of union and badness of dissension comes out from this lesson.

Do justice!

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

152a.  And approach not the wealth of the orphan save with that which is better, till he reach maturity. And give full measure and full weight, in justice. We take not any soul beyond its scope. And if ye give your word, do justice thereunto, even though it be (against) a kinsman.
152a.  Wa  laa  taqrabuu  maalal-yatiimi  ‘illaa  billatii  hiya  ‘ahsanu  hattaa  yab-luga  ‘a-shuddah.  Wa  ‘aw-ful-kayla  wal-miizaana  bil-qist.  Laa  Nukallifu  naf-san  ‘illaa  wus-‘ahaa.  Wa  ‘izaa  qultum  fa’-diluu  wa  law  kaana  zaa-  qurbaa.

Commentary

It is commanded that you should not go near the wealth of any orphan. However, as long he is a child, neither can he think and nor decide as how to spend, till then, his that guardian, under whose control he lives, can spend his wealth carefully in those matters, which are profitable for the orphan, and to fulfill his necessities. The patron can invest this wealth in any profitable business, but when the orphan becomes mature and able to understand about profit and loss of the wealth, then his wealth should be given in his control and help him with good advice.

After that, it is commanded also that you should take care regarding weight and measure in dealings so that the right of any person not to be less and every rightful owner may get that, which is his right in justice.

Allah Almighty commands: We do not put any soul in labor more than its strength of endurance. Therefore, you should bear it in mind that you should take care in case of justice, whenever you are going to give your word or decide among the people. You should do justice even though it be against any of your kinsman or friend.

It means that neither can you reap advantage unlawfully from anyone and nor any of your close relative, servant, friend etc. has any right to trespass in any matter and nor you can side unreasonably with your relative or friend in any matter.

It is known from this verse that certainly some toil exists in the prescribed Religion of Allah Almighty, but it is not such labor, which may be out of control of the human being. Every individual can move on the Religion of Allah Almighty in good manner and can obey His Commands according to his/her strength. So the only matter is that the individual would have to obey the Law of Allah Almighty, whereas its benefits are too much in this world, as well as in the Hereafter that this a little toil does not have any fact for that main Benefit.

Commentary

‘Al-fa-waahish- (lewd things), this word is plural of Faahishah, which means “immodesty, shamelessness, unchastity”. Here it aims “major sins” for example “committing adultery, sodomy etc.”

Harrama – it is past tense from tahriim, which means “to forbid”. That thing is also forbidden, safety, respect and reverence of which is compulsory. It is the aim of harrama here, that the thing, which has been commanded to be kept safe respectfully.

wassaa-kum – (you have been advised). This word is past tense from tawsiih, which has been derived from wasii-‘atun. Wasii-‘atun means “the matter of sincerity and goodwill”. Tawsii-‘atun means “to say or give something for goodness”. If Wasii-‘atun is from Allah Almighty, then it is meant “to command, to order”.

Remaining prescribed commands of Allah Almighty have been mentioned in this verse. It is commanded that you should not go near the lewd things and evil matters, whether, those are open or hidden. Protect and respect the life, which Allah Almighty has commanded, that is to say; the life of mankind. You should not kill him/her unjustly. Unjustly killing is that, which has been prohibited by the Divine Law of the Religion. You have been commanded by Allah Almighty about these matters for the purpose that you may understand, that your work is not to set the rules of order and conduct, rather you should follow the commands of Allah Almighty.

It had been the custom among the Arabs that open evil deeds were forbidden i.e. adultery etc. but if those are concealed, where none is present to see, then there is nothing wrong. In this verse, those people have been commanded: The sin and evil is prohibited in each condition, whether that is committed before other people or secretly. Likewise, slaying the man had no objection in the Arab. Vandalism was their left hand game. They have been prevented from committing these kinds of deeds in this verse. It is not permissible to kill any human being unless the Religious Law does not provide a Judicial Decree. Similarly, slaughtering any creature in the Sanctuary of Makkah is also unlawful.

After determining the rules regarding affairs and conduct, Allah Almighty has commanded that the mankind cannot make the rules of his life to live at his own. He should follow only the rules established by Allah Almighty and pass his life according to His commands. Every deed of the human being becomes worship, if he/she passes the life in accordance with the commands of Allah almighty.
