Quran Chapter 7 – 40 & 41 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-951) - درس قرآن

Decision against the disobedient

Chapter ‘Al-‘A’raaf (The Heights) – Surah – 7)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

 40.  Lo! They who deny Our Revelations and scorn them, for them the gates of heaven will not be opened nor will they enter the Garden until the camel goeth through the needle’s eye. And thus do We requite the guilty.

41.  Theirs will a bed of Hell, and over them coverings (of Hell). And thus do We requite wrongdoers.
40.   ‘Innal-laziina  kazzabyy  bi-‘AayaatiNaa  was-takbaruu  ‘anhaa  laa  tufattahu  lahum  ‘abwaabus-samaaa-‘i   wa  laa  yadkhuluunal-Jannata  hattaa  yalijal-jamalu  fii  sammil-khi-yaat.  Wa  kazaalika  najzil-muj-rimiin.

41.  lahum-min-  Jahannama  mihaadunw-wa  min-  faw-qihim  ga-waash.  Wa  kazaalika  najziz-zaalimiin.

Commentary
Ga-waashin – (coverings), actually this word is Ga-waashii and plural of Gaashi-yah, which has been derived from the word Gash-yun. Gash-yun means “to cover something”. Gashi-yah means “Covering” - a thing used to cover something.

It has been commanded in this verse that negligence and carelessness from the orders of Allah Almighty, opposing the way – led by the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), persistence on evils, sins and wicked deeds etc. these entire errors will appear after death in the form of the Fire of Hell, and as they had been sticking to bad works in this world, there, similarly the Fire will be clinging to them. There is no form of their reaching Paradise because of their wicked deeds.

It is commanded that those people who falsified Our Revelations in the world and said that These were self-invented, and rejected Our promises and Warnings regarding Reward and punishment, scorned the decisions of these verses against their own false decisions, for them, neither the gates of Heaven will be opened, nor will they enter into the Garden.

They used to say in the world that supposed names of the Paradise and the Hell have been made-believe for entertainment and frightening the children. Now they have no right to enter in the Garden after death. They are fallen into their haughtiness and consider themselves greatest, and think that these Words are of low level, which have been described in the verses of Holy Qur’an regarding the Paradise. These kinds of their thoughts are not suitable for them because they are a creature of Allah Almighty as others and possess the dignity of His Viceroy on the earth.

If a picture of such type of imagination is drawn, that will be exactly as though; they are a camel and the gate of the Paradise is an eye of a needle. This instance can be the best example regarding bigger and smaller. Now if they went into the Paradise, it will be as though; that the camel passed through the eye of the needle. As you know; it is impossible. The camel can never go through the eye of the needle.

Similarly these people, who consider that they are grandeur, and think about Paradise that it is a little word before their dignity, cannot enter. Allah Almighty says: it is Our Way of punishment to the guilty that We change their credence in the form of agony. Those people, who have fixed firmly in their mind the false ideas of living in the world, and they consider that the Commands of Allah Almighty are nothing against their thoughts and traditions, and they say: We don’t like these faiths and we have advanced and gone very forth from the Believers of the religion, their false thoughts will become the Fire of Hell for those people and they will be punished according to their thoughts.

Commands of Qur’an are Final - Quran Chapter 7 – 38b & 39 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-950) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 7 – 38b & 39 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-950) - درس قرآن

Commands of Qur’an are Final

Chapter ‘Al-‘A’raaf (The Heights) – Surah – 7)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)
 ‘
Brothers and sisters! The Revelations of the Word of God Almighty are before you. Behold and hearken that; what are saying its verses? This is the time with us to think about them. There is no doubt that this respite will be put to end and the eyes will be closed after death from this side, but will be opened from the other side. Then you will come to know that, that was entirely true, which was commanded by Holy Qur’an. Moreover, opening the eyes at that time will not be useful. You can gain your end only in such condition, if you open your eyes just now.

Which sketch has been drawn in these verses about the consequence of the disobedient people, certainly that is sufficient for trembling of the heart with fear. Those people, who are eager to fulfill their desires in this world and do not wish to remain behind from anyone else in pleasantness of life, for them, the truth has been manifested in the previous Section of this Chapter.

They have been told that all things of the world have been created for comfort of the human beings. But you must learn the method “how to use them”. Entire Prophets and Messengers of Allah Almighty (peace be upon Them), who used to come in this world from time to time, it was their duty that they would have to teach their folks about the way of using these things and reaping advantage from them, because one very dangerous enemy of theirs (Satan) is pursuing them. His only job is to misguide the people from that path, for which – Messengers of God Almighty (peace be upon Them) used to teach them “how to reap advantage from the worldly things”. The Devil tries his best to mislead the mankind and drown their raft.

He misguides the people as: You have power of choice and strength, and luxurious things are before you. Alas! If you do not depend solely on your own will or discretion and give up relishes of the world unnecessarily, fearing from the notional things. He says: How a great foolish are you! Who has seen the Heaven and the Hell? As desire of unseen things is useless, in the same way, fearing from them is useless too. What such happened with you that by leaving the cash, you suffer from hardship and undergo great labor for abstinence?

Holy Qur’an explains that you should reap advantage from the pure and clean things of the world with moderation. Be saved from open and hidden lewdness, wicked deeds, evils, sins, tyrannizing anyone unjustly, obeying Satan by leaving Allah Almighty and having wrong concept about God. These matters are forbidden for you.

Allah Almighty has commanded you by means of His Scripture and Messengers (peace be upon Them) only for it that you should acquire gain from lawful things with moderation and escape from the forbidden. If you will not act upon it today and you are died, then you should bear in mind that entire evil days will fall upon disbelievers.

Angels (peace be upon Them) of Allah Almighty will come before them. They will drag the souls from their bodies and say: Tell now! Why did you not obey the Messengers (peace be upon Them)? Where are your protecting friends like Satan and His disciples, whom did you use to obey? Call upon them to save you from this misfortune in which you have fallen now.

They will see hither and thither hopelessly and nothing will come out from their mouth except it that: Ah! There is no sign of them. You must conjecture about that answer at the spot, which is full of hidden hopelessness and loneliness. We should ask earnestly just now from Allah Almighty with hundreds of humility that: Our Lord! Save us from such misfortune. Along with this prayer, we should devise strongly too that we shall live in the world according to that, which is written in the last Word of Allah Almighty (Holy Qur’an – which is a summary of all previous Scriptures) and which has been commanded by His last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him).

Wrangling is useless

Chapter ‘Al-‘A’raaf (The Heights) – Surah – 7)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

38b.  He saith: For each one there is double (torment), but ye know not.

39.  And the first of them will say unto the last of them: Ye have no preference over us, so taste the doom for what ye used to earn.
 38.b.  Qaala  li-kullin  zi’-funw-wa  laakil-laa  ta’-lamuun.

39.  Wa  qaalat  ‘uulaahum  li-‘ukh-raahum  faman  kaana  lakum  ‘alay-naa  min-  fazlin  fazuuqul- ‘azaaba  bimaa  kuntum  tak-sibuun.

Commentary
It was described in the previous verse that when those people, who throw the Revelations of Allah Almighty behind, will be confuted after looking the faces of Angels (peace be upon Them) during the agonies of death and listening to their questions, and will understand clearly that: Really we are infidels. The Holy Scriptures and Messengers (peace be upon Them) of Allah Almighty caused to know us in the world hundred thousand times that you should not be disbelievers, otherwise, you will be tormented after death. But we considered it nothing at that time. We are looking clearly at this time that: That was very true, which the Messengers of Allah Almighty (peace be upon Them) used to explain before us and which was mentioned in the Heavenly Scriptures.

They will be commanded on the Day of Resurrection: Go to the Fire of Hell along with those, who are like you, all together. Therefore they will enter into It in a row reproving one another. After entering into the Hell, the last of them will request Lord Almighty: The first of us misled us. Therefore, they should be tormented double. This verse contains reply of their supplication.

It is commanded: It is right. Because they were misled as well as they seduced you too, so they committed two errors, according to this, you are right that they should be punished twofold. Therefore, they will get double doom. But you don’t know that two crimes are liable to come upon you also:

1.    You committed evils.

2.    You did not use your own sense.

You were told by means of the Holy Qur’an: Behold! The people before you committed wicked deeds, so they were punished in the world – it was for your information that: Fruit of the bad is always bad, but you did not hear any word. Therefore, you are double accused too and you will be tormented double also.

Based on this, it is the decision that the first of them and the last of them (both kinds of people) will taste double agony. After hearing this decision, the first of them will irritate the last of them: You stood up for requesting that we should be punished double. What did come into your hand? On the contrary, you are defeated. Why would you be punished less than us? Of what you were proud? All accused people are equal because their wrong deeds are equal, so, as we would have to suffer against our sins, similarly, you would have to enjoy the torment of your part too. God bless, otherwise, it seems impossible to get rid of this torment. Alas! We would have to understand this reality in the world: Ultimately every living being will have to die.

Dispute among the Hellish people

Chapter ‘Al-‘A’raaf (The Heights) – Surah – 7)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

38a.  He saith: Enter into the Fire among nations of the jinn and humankind, who passed away before you. Every time a nation entereth, it curseth its sister (nation) till, when they have all been made to follow one another thither, the last of them will say unto the first of them: Our Lord! These led us astray, so give them double torment of the Fire.
38a,  Qaalad-khuluu  fiii  ‘umamin-  qad  khalat  min-  qablikum-  minal  jinni  wal  ‘insi  fin-Naar.  Kullamaa  dakhalat  ‘ummatul-la-‘anat  ‘ukhtahaa.  Hattaaa  ‘izaddaa-rakuu  fiihaa  jamii-‘an,  Qaalat  ‘ukhraa-hum  li-‘uulaahum  Rabbanaa  haaa-‘ulaaa-‘i  ‘azalluunaa  fa-‘aatihim  ‘azaaban  zi’-fam-minan-Naar.

Commentary
‘Addaa-rakuu – (will get together), actually this word was tadaa-rakuu, which has been derived from tadaarak. The origin of tadaarak is darak. Darak means “to find, to get”. Tadaarak means “to meet with one another, getting together”. Here it aims: at that time, when they all will see one another in the Hell.

Zi’-fun – (twofold), it means “to include equal of one thing plus more in the same quantity with it, whether that is of extra manifold, however at least including once, because of which that thing becomes double. When the infidels will accept their infidelity by their own mouth, then they will become confessor offenders. After that they will be punished properly.

It is commanded that Allah Almighty will order: Enter into the Fire of Hell all together along with those all nations of demons and human beings, which were before you and were involved in the evil of infidelity, because it is the punishment of disbelief. We had informed all of you by sending Our Scriptures and Messengers (peace be upon Them) and warned strictly. If you had understood it in the world, you would have been saved from the torment of the Fire today. But you did not believe, so you should suffer now its agony. Therefore, those entire people will have been entering into the Hell and cursing one another.

When all of them will be gathered in the Hell quarreling and cursing one another, at that time, the last of those people will say to the first of them and vent their rage in such manner that they will begin to imprecate for them, They will call Allah Almighty: Our Lord! These cursed people misled us. Give them double torment of the Fire than all of us.

It is strange that the mankinds continue committing the same evils in the world after open and clear warning like this, from the result of which, they have been frightened. The wrongdoers commit wicked deeds by observing other people doing so. Today they look protecting friends, but on the Day of Resurrection, they will request Allah Almighty to punish them twofold.

 37.  Who doeth greater wrong than he who forgeth a lie concerning Allah or denieth His tokens. (For such) their appointed portion of the Book (of destiny) reacheth them till, when Our Messengers come to seize their souls, they will say: Where (now) are those to whom ye use to call upon beside Allah? They will say: They have departed from us; and they will testify against themselves that they were disbelievers.
 37.  Faman  ‘azlamu  mimmanif-taraa  ‘alAllaahi  kaziban  ‘aw  kazzaba  bi- ‘AayaatiH.  ‘Ulaaa-‘ika  yanaaluhum  nasiibu-hum-minal-Kitaab.  Hattaaa  ‘izaa  jaaa-‘at-hum  RusuluNaa  yatawaffaw-nahim,  qaaluuu  ‘ayna  maa  kuntum  tad-‘uuna  min  duuNIllaah.  Qaaluu  zalluu  ‘annaa  wa  shahiduu  ‘alaaa  ‘anfu-sihim  ‘annahum  kaanuu  kaafiriin.

Commentary
Yanaalu – (will reach, will be given), this word is from yanal, which means “to acquire, to reach”. Yanaalu will be meant “shall be given to them”.

Kitaab – it means a written script. Here it aims “Lawhum- Mahfuuz” (Such Protected Table or Board on which, the destinies of the world since its creation are written), every that thing has been mentioned in it, which is given to every human being.

RusuluNaa – the Messengers (peace be upon Them) sent down by Us (Allah Almighty). Rusulun is plural of Rasuul. This word is an adjective tense, which has been derived from Risaalah. Risaalah means “to send). Rasuul means “sent, Messenger, Apostle”. In this verse, it aims the Angels (peace be upon Them).

It has been described in this verse: Who would be big loser than those people who consider the Revelations of Allah Almighty as mockery and a joke? It is commanded: That, which these people say! It is the command of Allah which has been given to us and which are we doing, whereas that is wrong and a lie, which they are telling.

They consider that the verses of Allah Almighty are compositions invented by the mankind, whereas they are at wrong. These people are destroying themselves. Their appointed portion of the Book of destiny will reach them, either that will be trouble or ease.

Then, when the time of their death will reach and the Angels of Allah Almighty (peace be upon Them) will come to take their soul, at that time their senses will be lost, everlasting calamity and retribution will come before their eyes. The Angels (peace be upon Them) will ask them: Where are those people, idols or your those ill-founded and destructive hobbies today, in which you had been entangled and to whom you used to call upon beside Allah? At that time, they will answer being confused: Really neither we see anyone from our protecting friends and supporters and nor have we remembered now those amusements and playfulness, with which we used to cure our miseries, grieves and afflictions.

At that time they will be sure that neither there was any supporter except Allah Almighty and nor any other can be, and that, verily they were disbelievers and at the wrong path.

Quran Chapter 7 – 35 & 36 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-946) - درس قرآن

Way of salvation

Chapter ‘Al-‘A’raaf (The Heights) – Surah – 7)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

 35.  O Children of Adam! When Messengers of your own come unto you who narrate unto you My Revelations, then whosoever refraineth from evil and amendeth – there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve.

36.  But they who deny Our Revelations and scorn them – such are rightful owners of the Fire; they will abide therein forever.
 35.  yaa-Baniii-Aadama  ‘immaa  ya’-ti-yannakum  Rusulum-minkum  yaqus-suuna  ‘alay-kum  ‘AayaaTii,  famanit-taqaa  wa  ‘aslaha  falaa  khaw-fun  ‘alayhim  wa  laa  hum  yahzanuun.

36.  walla-ziina  kazzabuu  bi- ‘AayaatiNaa  wastak-baruu  ‘an-haaa  ‘ulaaa-‘ika  ‘As-haabun-Naar.  Hum  fiihaa  khaaliduun.

Commentary
‘Immaa – (If), actually, there are two words – ‘inna and maa, ‘Inna is a word “conditional”, which means “if”. The word “Maa” has been increased with it and “n” of ‘inna has been concealed in “m” of maa.

‘It-taqaa – (refrain from evil, frightened), it is past tense and its origin is ‘ittaqaaa-‘un, which has been derived from Taqwaa, it means – safety, escape. ‘Ittaqaaa-‘un means “refraining from evil because of any fear, so it aims “fear of God”.

‘Astak-baruu – (scorn, was proud, was arrogant), origin of this word is ‘istikbaar, which is from the word kibar. Kibar means – grandeur, pride, greatness. ‘Istikbaar means – haughtiness, vainglory etc. i.e. to consider oneself great. The object from these verses – “considering oneself great” is that “turning face from someone by saying that he/she is not worthy of our status as, some people say usually: What are you causing to know us? We are not children. Those people, who do so, they do arrogance from the advice.

It was pointed out in the previous verse that a fixed term is given to every nation that it should carry its people on the right path, so that they may not oppress one another. But it has been described in this verse that Children of Adam (peace be upon Him) are one nation.

It aims that it is a mutual duty of the entire people that they should look after all other persons. Every individual has been directed that he/she must refrain from evil, fear from God Almighty and try to correct themselves every time.

Allah Almighty commands: O Children of Adam! We have arranged for your guidance in the world. For this purpose, My Messengers (peace be upon Them), who will be mankind like you, will come unto you. You should obey Them. They will instruct you for two things:

1.    Refrain from evil and fear from God. It is called Taqwaa.

2.    Do good works. It aims “to correct and amend oneself”.

They will cause to hear you My Revelations. Those individuals, who will follow the Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon Them), they will escape themselves as well as they will save their nation too from disgrace and ignominy, but those, who will not obey Them (Messengers – peace be upon Them), their abode will be Fire of the Hell on the Day of Resurrection.

Commentary
‘Ajalun – (the term, time for which anything lasts, period of session, deadline for expiry of time)

‘Ummatun – (nation, community, group, class, party, band etc., according to original dictionary, it means “a collection, which, by joining more permanent things becomes a permanent thing itself”.

It was described in the previous verse that Allah Almighty has forbidden the human beings from some evil deeds, so they should give them up forever. Some people may think after hearing this Revelation that many people commit the forbidden acts fearlessly, but even then they suffer no injury and they enjoy unhesitatingly. What is benefit then to forbid anyone? If those people are punished immediately who commit the forbidden then however, meanings of forbidden can be understood, otherwise, it seems that forbidding is useless. There is a reply to this doubt in the above mentioned verse.

It is commanded that every group of people has been given a fixed time for working. The time of its termination has been prescribed. And when its term will come, they will neither be able to put it off even a moment and nor advance it. If we meditate upon this verse, two things are understandable here:

1.    No one lives alone in this world but belongs to any particular group, community, city, country and has relation with the entire human beings. Before the revelation of this verse, some people came unto the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) and said: You have told us that the wrath of Allah Almighty comes because of His disobedience, but we have observed that an individual commits a sin but is never punished. The answer which has been given to them in this verse is that: O mankind! You are saved for some days because a temporary respite has been given to your nation. That sinner is under the shelter of the nation. Until she will continue looking after him, he can be saved. But at last this nation will be ruined, then none will be his savior/protecting friend.

2.    Giving a respite to the nation is produced in the formation of the world, so that it must carry its people on the Straight Path. When it will not remain able to perform this duty, it will be finished. In other words, it is meant that its honor and good name will be ruined, and it will exist like the contemptible. Its reputation and dignity will be over. And other nations will subdue it. It will be the result that when this nation had its term, it could not control own people. The individuals must have perceived that: Our nation will be destroyed because of our own evil deeds. Its destruction is certainly our destruction.
