Story of Midian Township - Quran Chapter 7 – 85a (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-990) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 7 – 85a (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-990) - درس قرآن

Story of Midian Township

Chapter ‘Al-‘A’raaf (The Heights) – Surah – 7)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

85a.  And unto Madian (We sent) their brother, Shu-‘aib. He said: O my people! Serve Allah; ye have no other God save Him. Lo! a clear proof hath come unto you from your Lord;
85a.  Wa  ‘ilaa  Mad-yana  ‘akhaahum  Shu-‘aybaa.  Qaala  yaaqawmi’-budUllaaha  maa  lakummin  ‘ilaahin  gay-ruh.  Qad  jaaa-‘atkum-Bayyi-natum-mir-Rabbikum.

Commentary
Mad-yana – Some commentators of the religion think that it is name of a place. But maximum commentators say that it is name of an honored person, whose children were called by his name “Madian”, as ‘Aad and Thamud are names of two individuals. Then their all children were famed as ‘Aad and Thamud. Their native land is in the territory of Jordan too.

Shu-‘ayba – Shu-‘eyb (peace be upon Him) is Prophet of Allah Almighty and from the children of Madian. Therefore, He (peace be upon Him) has been named as brother of Madian. Social evils had been spread publicly into His nation, foundation of which was upon the denial from Oneness of God. He (peace be upon Him) guided His nation to correct their religious tenets.

The same evils had become prevalent in another nation, which was called ‘As-haabul-‘Aykah, (neighboring nation of Madian). Those people were not children of Madian, but partners in evils. So, their Prophet is Shu-eyb (peace be upon Him) also. He (peace be upon Him) was famous for His fluency of speech and eloquence. Therefore, He (peace be upon Him) is called “Khatiib-e-‘Anbiaaa’ {Preacher of Prophets (peace be upon Them)}.

It has been described already that the nations of Noah, ‘AadThamud and Lot deserved the wrath of Allah Almighty due to being fallen into adversity of their criminal lifestyle. And because, save some number of individuals, entire people were obstinate on their evil habits, Allah Almighty indicated one force from the system of His servant forces. And that force ruined them.

The nation of Noah (peace be upon Him) was destroyed by the storm of water, ‘Aad by the storm of hurricane, Thamud by earthquake and thunder and the nation of Lot (peace be upon Him) by the pressure of the volcanic materials.

After that, era of Madian nation came, circumstances of which begin from this verse. It is commanded: We sent Shu-aib (peace be upon Him), who was an esteemed person and had relationship with the Madian tribe, by appointing Him Our Prophet, unto His nation to cause to understand them. They had forgotten their Creator, Lord and God; Allah Almighty.

Prophet Shu-eyb (peace be upon Him) warned them: O my people! That is only Allah (Eminent, Glorious and Dignified), before Whom, everyone should bow with the humility. None is worthy of worship save Him. Observe Me! You will find such tokens in My character, discourse and walk, which will give evidence that I am true and sincere. Your Lord has sent Me with such Revelations, observing and listening to which, you should not have any doubt in My truth.

Circumstances of which nations are being described, a special kind of evil had become prevalent into everyone of them, but the foundation of all of them was one, that is to say; forgetting Allah Almighty and inclining towards other things. These other things are nothing but own evil desires, which appear in the form of different kinds of wicked deeds.

Punishment of evil deeds - Quran Chapter 7 – 84 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-989) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 7 – 84 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-989) - درس قرآن

Punishment of evil deeds

Chapter ‘Al-‘A’raaf (The Heights) – Surah – 7)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

Allah Almighty has sent a Straight and Simple Message for the human beings by means of His Messengers (peace be upon Them) and Scriptures, for understanding of which, the human sense is quite sufficient, which He has bestowed Himself to every mankind. Messengers of Allah Almighty (peace be upon Them) and His Holy Books explained before us that; this Plant of the Universe; which is before you, Allah Almighty has created it with His Omnipotence and its entire administration is also in His Control. Everything of the universe is running according to prescribed system of God Almighty, whether that is earthly or heavenly. And nothing can go up or down, right or left, hither or thither from that way, which has He determined for everything. Every power and force is under His rule and works as He commands.

Countless forces have been performing their duties around, beneath and above the earth, and revolutionary changes take place in the earth by means of them. Hot and cold, day and night, superficial changes, becoming of water dry and dryness as water, rain, dust storms, earthquakes etc. the whole are blandishments of these forces. These all are included in the formation of the earth. Reasons of their happening spring up, whenever God Almighty commands. Until it is confirmed by Him, these forces will be working. Till when the earth is to remain, no force can exceed its limit. When it will be approved by Allah Almighty to abolish it, then these forces will show their thrust overly and the earth will be destroyed and ruined.

After creating the humankind, Allah Almighty commanded to live in these environments and said: These whole powers and forces, which you observe, are in My Control. You have to live for some days in the condition of pulling and taking away by these forces. Until you live here, dwell, but according to My Instructions, which are delivered to you by means of My Messengers (peace be upon Them). You have to leave this place at last one day, and then your superior life will begin. That individual, who would have passed own life in accordance with My Guidance, tranquility and repose will be in his/her luck only during the next life. Satan is your deadly foe in this world. He will seduce you and try his best as much as it will be possible for him that you should not adopt that Path, which I have determined for you.

If you gave up My prescribed Straight Path, it will be cause of My anger. You all should become one nation all together and hold the Path of Allah Almighty fast, and prevent everyone with your collective strength from going (astray) out from this Path. If you entire people would be corrupted, then I shall destroy you in this world by means of any disaster, earthquake, dust/rain storm or volcanic materials, as I have ruined many nations before you.

My Messengers (peace be upon Them) have told you the stories (of ancient people) by means of My Scriptures. Take those facts as warning. It is My Rule that until sufficient people will continue to tell My Commands in any nation, I shall not send down any common disaster due to their blessing. But if they remained only a few, then I shall save them and destroy remaining all other people. The torment of after death is a separate.

Rain of stones upon the evildoers - Quran Chapter 7 – 84 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-988) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 7 – 84 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-988) - درس قرآن

Rain of stones upon the evildoers

Chapter ‘Al-‘A’raaf (The Heights) – Surah – 7)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًا فَٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ 84

84.  And We rained a rain upon them. So, see now the nature of the consequence of evildoers!
84.  Wa  ‘amtarNaa  ‘alay-him-mataraa.  Fanzur  kayfa  kaana  ‘aa-qibatul-mujrimiin.

Commentary
It has been mentioned earlier that the people of Sodom and its outskirts had been involved in a very bad and disgusting habit (carnal copulation against nature). Allah Almighty chose His Prophet Lot (peace be upon Him) and sent Him unto those people to cause to know them. He (peace be upon Him) explained about the evils of their obscene act.

It seems that they had understood it that really, it was a dirty and defiled act, and its consequence is not other than a ruin. But instead of being abashed due to this unchaste act, a stubborn arose in their hearts. It was required that they were ashamed on their vicious act after understanding. But instead, it happened that they began to blush that another person was going to admonish them about the badness of their act, as though, their comprehension was less than Him. They thought: We had to give up this evil at our own with our pleasure. Now we shall never leave it.

This is the devilish trick, with which Satan has obstructed and is baring many servants of God Almighty from the Straight Path, and deprives them entirely from the special advice of the Messengers of Allah Almighty (peace be upon Them). This perversion arises in their hearts that: Who is this person, preventing us from our deed?

The nation of Noah (peace be upon Him) was crazed in the same way and they drowned. The tribe of ‘Aad was killed in the same mania. The people of Thamud ruined themselves with their same thought. This is the swagger due to which, improper stubbornness arises. Human being accepts his death, but does not wish to see any other greater, a little, than him, and coming into stubbornness, commits forbidden deeds immediately and forcibly. Although, he knows that it will destroy him. It is called the evil of the soul. Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) has taught us this prayer: Allaahumma  ‘a-‘iznii  min  sharrin-nafsii. (O God! Save me from the evil of the soul). Result of those perverse and obstinate people has been described in this verse.

It is commanded: We rained a rain (of stones) upon them. After that, you saw the nature of consequence of evildoers. Powers of the earth and the heavens are in the control and omnipotence of Allah Almighty. Perhaps it would have been the form; as volcanic materials kept being split. Volcanic materials of brimstone might be beneath that storey of the land. Those materials of sulphur ran over with full force and frittered away that part of the land, where those disobedient people lived. They fell down into that abyss, which was produced due to flying of that particular part of the earth, and the stones etc. had been falling upon them. Allah Almighty keep us protected from His wrath.

At last they were ruined - Quran Chapter 7 – 83 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-987) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 7 – 83 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-987) - درس قرآن

At last they were ruined

Chapter ‘Al-‘A’raaf (The Heights) – Surah – 7)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

فَأَنجَيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱمْرَأَتَهُۥ كَانَتْ مِنَ ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ 83

83.  And We rescued him and his household, save his wife, who was of those who stayed behind.
83.  Fa- ‘anjay-Naahu  wa  ‘ahlahuuu  ‘illam-ra-‘atahuu  kaanat  minal-  gaabiriin.

Commentary
Gaabiriin – (who stayed behind), this word is plural of gaabir, which has been derived from gabar. Gabar means “to pass and to stay behind). However, here it means “to stay behind”. And the aim from gaabiriin is “those people who had stayed behind after the departure of Prophet Lot (peace be upon Him), His household and His believers”.

Many people are suffering from this mania that “we know that, which other people do not know”. They consider that their knowledge is more than all others. They make guide to their own desires only and follow them by closing own eyes. They commit evil deeds totally, but take up with their mind that: those acts are able to be done, which we do. Actually the matter is it that “numerous persons agree to them without any knowledge, and due to weakness of others, the power comes into their hands. But management of the world remained something like it; that during every era, the Prophets and Messengers of Allah Almighty (peace be upon Them) have been sent unto the humankind, before the last Messenger Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him). And after His Apostleship, no Prophet or Messenger will come for the guidance of human beings, however it has been arranged that the Revivers of the Religion will be coming continuously and they will keep reminding the Commands of God Almighty and Sayings of His last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) to the people who forgot.

In addition to the apparent eyes of a Messenger (peace be upon Him), His mystic eyes are open also and He looks everything with His inner light. He (peace be upon Him) observes clearly: Such act has been carrying the selfish people of the world unto the destruction, which they have been committing. Punishment for their fault distressing (due to their evil deeds) is going to fall to their lot within a few days.

The Messenger (peace be upon Him) is convinced that the Creator of this universe does not like their wicked acts. When their evil deeds will exceed the limits, then He will impose upon them any vigorous Power out of His unlimited Powers and Forces in any form, and that Power will ruin them.

The Messenger (peace be upon Them) caused to understand this to those disobedient people, but they do not understand and they are ruined miserably. The people of Prophet Lot (peace be upon Him) were suffering from this misunderstanding too. He (peace be upon Him) explained to them several times, but they did not understand His Saying. At last that happened, which has been mentioned in this verse.

It is commanded: We rescued him {Lot (peace be upon Him)} and his household (along with His believers). They fled the town overnight and were saved, but His wife joined her nation. The Commentators (Mufassiriin) have explained that this unfortunate woman did neither believe, notwithstanding, living in the house of Lot (peace be upon Him); a Prophet and being mother of His two daughters, and nor accepted His any advice. Moreover, she remained a sympathizer and like-minded of her nation. For ostentation, she walked along with her Husband and daughters, but kept looking behind by turning her face again and again. This love of disobedient nation ruined her too along with her nation, and a stone broke her scalp and finished.

Quran Chapter 7 – 82b (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-986) - درس قرآن

Chastity was considered as it was a crime

Chapter ‘Al-‘A’raaf (The Heights) – Surah – 7)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

82b.  They are folk, forsooth, who keep pure.
82b.  ‘Innahum  ‘unaasuny-yatatah-haruun.

Commentary
When Prophet Lot (peace be upon Him) warned the people of Sodom, they could not produce any reasonable argument in favor of their devilish act of humanity-rending. Whatever they said, that was of the same peculiarity as the nation of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) said to one another being confuted, that He should be thrown into the fire. Discussing so by them was not the answer of Abraham’s Reason, but it was an admission of their transgression and persistence to stand firm on it without grounds. The same admission and persistence is found in this case also. It was told in the previous part of this verse. In this part, that indictment has been mentioned, which was charged against Lot (peace be upon Him) by His folk.

It is commanded that the folk of Lot (peace be upon Him) could not answer to His reasonable Sayings, at last, they began to say to one another, being humiliated: This Lot (peace be upon Him) and His disciples will continue to annoy us. They will not let us do easily, what we are doing or what we wish to do, so, expel them from your city, because there is only one form to shake off from them.

Then they thought: Any reason should be searched to banish them from the city, so that, we should not be accused and the responsibility of banishment should fall to their own lot. But in spite of seeking any such cause into those sincere people, they could not find any reason, punishment of which was to be exiled.

When someone is out of one’s wits, then the good seems him the bad and the bad seems the good. Whenever those people become rulers, who have such inverted scalp, they fix the good work of the good people as an offence. Abstract of their reason is nothing other than imposture and perverseness. They determine those bad habits forcibly as good, which they have adopted, although they have to be confuted in their hearts that; yes! We have bad habits.

Sometimes, it happens that they begin to consider that their base matters are really good. It means that their conscience has been dead. It was the condition of the tribe of Lot (peace be upon Him). They had been habituated to remain wet in filth and stench, and began to consider it good. Purity and chasteness had become bad thing for them. Accordingly, they decided that Lot (peace be upon Him) and His companions are culprits of remaining chaste, clean and pure. Therefore, they should be turned out from this country.

It is to think that due to which act, sense of mankind is turned over and understanding is changed, if that act is not the killer of the humanity then what is it? Do the people, who commit such evil, deserve to live? Do they consider that an oppressive wave of flight and rage has not been producing against them anywhere in the world? If these evil doers think so, then they are in a manifest error. A law is underway in the world that the result of every act will come out certainly. None can escape from its power. Here it is late, but not arbitrariness.

Quran Chapter 7 – 82a (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-985) - درس قرآن

Pinching the pole by abashed cat

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

82a.  And the answer of his people was nearly that they said (one to another): Turn them out of your township.
82a.  Wa  maa  kaana  jawaaba  qawmihiii  ‘illaaa  ‘an- qaaluuu  ‘akhrijuuhum  -min-qar-yatikum.

Commentary
If someone becomes accustomed of any ill-mannered act, he does not have any reply to satisfy the individual, who is going to cause to understand him. Particularly while the act is highly disgusting and the aim of wrong doer is to tease someone else necessarily, he can say nothing as answer save an ugly and irrelevant word.

The talk of that person, who advises the adulterer, is felt so much blushing by the evil doer, who commits an act, which is inhumanity and contrary to reason, then he can do nothing except being ashamed and displeased. The best part of his inner self gets ready to quarrel with himself and reproaches. This part is his irascibility, which supports the adviser fully. And if the criminal has not choked his senses entirely so far, he may return towards the straight path with two or three harsh jerks of advice. But if his conscience has died then the best talk of the adviser seems him deadly poison in spite of being an antidote.

It is clear from the answer of the folk of Prophet Lot (peace be upon Him) that they had lost their senses. They determined the external and internal chasteness and cleanliness as a dangerous vice, which did exist into Prophet Lot (peace be upon Him) and His believers, and which was a best attribute of human being, whereas, they gave preference to their impurity and obscene act contrary to the chastity. It appears that their sense had been turned over entirely.

It is commanded that the nation of Lot (peace be upon Him) had no any definite answer and began to talk with irrelevant. When no answer is seen by the human being, he begins to abuse reciprocal and even does not miss beating. Therefore, if someone is using insulting language or being prepared for beating, then one should consider that he has been defeated by his opponent in the field of sense, and does not see his freedom in anything save abusive behavior and quarreling. Brawl and scuffles is hundred percent sign of defeat. The people of Lot (peace be upon Him) were annoyed from His preaching and said: Turn them out of your township and from among you.

This kind of answer was given to Prophet Abraham (peace be upon Him) by His people too. They had acknowledged all lost in discussion also because they decided that He (peace be upon Him) should be thrown into the fire.

This result comes out from it that the individual, who gets ready to punish any exciter of any matter, for example; beat, exile or imprison, then it should be considered that the exciter is true and that person, who is going to give him punishment, has accepted his defeat in debate, otherwise, if he would have anyone argument or proof of his truth, certainly he would have produced it and caused to understand his opponent.

How homosexuality began in the folk of Lot? - Quran Chapter 7 – 81 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-984) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 7 – 81 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-984) - درس قرآن

How homosexuality began in the folk of Lot?

Chapter ‘Al-‘A’raaf (The Heights) – Surah – 7)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

Prophet Lot (peace be upon Him) made the people of Sodom to understand and at that time He said: You commit abomination such as no creature ever did before you. The Commentators felt the need of finding out: How this evil was started and how the attention of human being was engaged towards this absurd and bad act?

The tracers of the human history told them that the land of Sodom and in its surroundings was a fertile territory. Gardens of fruit were in huge abundance. There was no deficiency of the commodities of food and the people used to live in very comfortable circumstances. They used to fulfill their every desire freely and thoughtlessly. It is easy to draw attention of the prosperous and thoughtless people towards the sexual gratification.

Satan, who remains in search of occasions every time to `ruin the mankind, got very good opportunity to seduce. He caused to incline the people towards the means of boiling up carnal appetite by turning their thoughts from good works and hobbies. And they began to remain engaged in the matters of getting excited their hot. Although, such thought could not be produced in their hearts regarding unnaturally destruction of the essence of a man. It is said that the Devil misled them by means of an unusual trick and arranged to remove the human race from its foundation.

The trouble was that the man got ready to destroy himself in such a way. His sense did not work. Neither he could think that it was a vicious and obscene act and nor there was any chance to draw his attention unto its deadly results. Everyone knows that bad work spreads like fire and dust storm. And whosoever comes in their striking, they leave it burnt or throw on the ground violently. The people of Sodom came in the trick of Satan and arranged for themselves to be ruined. We should learn many useful lessons from it:

·         Such kind of obscene act cannot be thought by the mankind at its own, until the Devil misguides him by means of any new way. Therefore, we should continue trying to be saved from our ancient enemy.

·         Trick of the Devil operates upon the young, thoughtless and bellyful people immediately, so the young should remain engaged every time in useful hard works. They should bear in mind always that He (Allah Almighty) has been looking them every time Who created them in this world and Who has bestowed these entire favors, and at the end, He will take an account from everyone that: Whether Our given powers and things for pleasure and enjoyment have been used properly or otherwise? He (God Almighty) will punish the evil doers.

·         Excess and greed should not be in eating. One should remain away from lustful thoughts, hobbies, games and disgusting talks. One should practise; how to live during hunger. Every desire rises when it is raised up, and sets, when it is suppressed. Absurd words, abusive language, obscene songs, dancing, twisting and modulation, erotic novels and fables, and unreasonable eating and drinking are the things, which stir up the desire, so, one should be saved from them, otherwise, one will be ill-treated at the time of death and after death.

·         The human being cannot be satisfied in the world by fulfilling own desires badly. Passion ends in minutes and seconds, but after that, its bad results pursue closely in spite of everything, and become cause of torment always, without intention of true repentance and abstinence, and forthcoming pedigrees suffer the trouble due to their bad results.
