Quran Chapter 7 – 205 (Pt-9, Stg-2) (L-1076) - درس قرآن

Remember Allah within yourselves humbly

Chapter ‘Al-‘A’raaf (The Heights) – Surah – 7)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

وَٱذْكُر رَّبَّكَ فِى نَفْسِكَ تَضَرُّعًا وَخِيفَةً وَدُونَ ٱلْجَهْرِ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْلِ بِٱلْغُدُوِّ وَٱلْءَاصَالِ وَلَاتَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْغَٰفِلِينَ 205

205.  And do thou (O Muhammad) remember thy Lord within thyself humbly and with awe, below thy breathe, at morn and evening, and be not thou of the neglectful.
205.  Wazkur-Rabbaka  fii  nafsika  tazarru-‘anw-wa  khiifatanw-wa  duunal-jahri  minal-qawli  bil-quduwwi  wal-‘aasaali  wa  laa  takum-minal-gaafi-liin.

Commentary

Tazarru-‘an – (humbly), this word has been derived from zar-‘un, which means “humbleness, self-abasement”. From its origin, a word zaraa-‘at is more in common use, which means “to consider oneself a trifle, mere nothing and quite helpless”. Tazarra‘ means “to make one’s condition such as the helplessness and feebleness manifests from it”.

Khiifatan – (with awe, being afraid of), this word is made from khawf, and the word under discussion is used for exposing the condition of fear, that is to say; Remembering Allah Almighty by producing the condition of fear in oneself.

Quduwwi  - it is first part of the day i.e. the morning, a.m. (also A.M.) – ante-meridium (before noon). The morning time is called gudwatun and bukratun also.

‘Aasaali – this word is plural of ‘asiil. ‘Asiil is the time when sharpness of the sun has lessened, the evening time is close and the sun is going to set i.e. second part of the day (p.m. or P.M. – post-meridium). ‘Aasaali – the last hours of the day.

It appeared from the previous verse that Holy Qur’an has been sent down in the world to tell the human being those things which are useful for him. Therefore, it is incumbent that when the Holy Qur’an is being recited, it must be listened carefully and whatever is being taught, should be understood properly. From it, the door of mercy opens and the forgotten useful matters come to mind. So, Holy Qur’an is a complete Dhikr (Remembrance).

In this verse, in addition, the importance regarding remembering and making mention to Allah Almighty every time has been described and instructed its method. It is commanded: And do you remember your Lord within yourselves thus; expressing your humility. Reflection of God’s Greatness, Grandeur and His Fear must be in the hearts. He should be remembered in the heart and by the tongue continuously but the voice must not be noisy.

For remembrance of Allah Almighty, particularly morning and evening are well-adjusted times, although, one must not be careless any time from His heed. First impression of hearing the Holy Qur’an with attention becomes obvious in such form that Dhikr (Remembrance) of Allah Almighty remains current on the tongue of humankind. Along with the tongue, the heart should continue it also and the voice should not be much high during His remembrance. Verbal remembrance is performed in the beginning and the heart is habituated to associate the tongue. After that, the heart precedes in the remembrance and makes the tongue its companion too. At that time it should be considered that some negligence has been removed by Allah Almighty and the real aim of God’s remembrance has been acquired. In the process of time, the carelessness vanishes and the heart of human seems to be meditated in the remembrance of Allah Almighty. In such condition, mankind gains the habit of the Angels (peace be upon Them) who are engaged every time in the Remembrance of God Almighty.

Farishton se behtar hae insaan honaa,
Magar is mein lagti hae mehnat ziadah.

(The man is better than the angels. But more effort is required into it).

How is Qur’an a Source of Mercy? - Quran Chapter 7 – 204 (Pt-9, Stg-2) (L-1075) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 7 – 204 (Pt-9, Stg-2) (L-1075) - درس قرآن

How is Qur’an a Source of Mercy?

Chapter ‘Al-‘A’raaf (The Heights) – Surah – 7)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

وَإِذَا قُرِئَٱلْقُرْءَانُ فَٱسْتَمِعُوا۟ لَهُۥ وَأَنصِتُوا۟ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ 204

204.  And when the Qur’an is recited, give ear to it and pay heed, that ye may obtain mercy.
204.  Wa  ‘izaa  quri-‘al-Qur-‘aanu  fas-tami-‘uu  lahuu  wa ‘ansituu  la-‘allakum  turhamuun.

Commentary

‘As-tami-‘uu – (give ear, hear with care), it is a word of command. Origin of it is‘astamaaa’ which has been derived from sama’. Sama’ means “ear and power of hear”. ‘Astamaaa’ means “to make such power full useful”.

‘Ansituu – (pay heed, be silent), it is a word of command also which is from ‘ansaat. Origin of it is nasat which means “silence”. ‘Ansaat means “to be quiet”.

Turhamuun – (ye may obtain mercy). This word has been derived from Raham. Rahmat is another form of the same word. These both words are in common use, so nobody thinks in the meanings of these words. Raham means “to give the necessitous immediately that thing which is necessary for him/her”. Rahmat is the thing with which; the necessity is fulfilled immediately. An individual gives anything to someone feeling pity. God Almighty gives His every creature with His tremendous generosity; every that thing which is necessary for it.

Allah Almighty gave Holy Qur’an to the human beings so that they may fulfill their religious and worldly necessities. It is a Miracle of His Pity, and the Holy Qur’an is a Mercy; given by Him, from which; every mankind can reap advantage. And in fact, Holy Qur’an is Mercy for only that individual who reaps advantage from It.

In this verse, it has been analyzed “how to reap advantage from Holy Qur’an” so that the Mercy is established, as though; first step of reaping advantage from it is this. It is commanded that Holy Qur’an is Guidance and Mercy for its believers. But the condition is that one should try to reap advantage from it. Now; if you wish to reap advantage from it, at first; you have to do the following:

1.    Give ear to (listen to) it when Holy Qur’an is being recited and try to understand that; what is it saying to you?

2.    Pay heed (be silent entirely), give up talking, telling or looking hither and thither, because by doing so, the attention is divided and although the sound comes in the ear but one cannot understand its meanings.

Listening to that way, Holy Qur’an can be means of Mercy for you, that is to say; you can get everything from it useful to you and It can help you in every difficulty. The Companions (may Allah be pleased with all of Them) remembered this command. They used to engage their full attention on listening when Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) used to recite the Holy Qur’an. As soon as they used to hear, its meanings were lodged into their hearts. If they felt any difficulty in understanding anywhere, then after recitation, everyone used to ask immediately and they used to bear in mind which response they received. It was the result that Holy Qur’an guided them in all matters and they used to act according to Its commands. The world knows that success, which they gained in the world and the Hereafter.

Right concept of the Prophet - Quran Chapter 7 – 203 (Pt-9, Stg-2) (L-1074) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 7 – 203 (Pt-9, Stg-2) (L-1074) - درس قرآن

Right concept of the Prophet

Chapter ‘Al-‘A’raaf (The Heights) – Surah – 7)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

وَإِذَا لَمْتَأْتِهِم بِـَٔايَةٍ قَالُوا۟ لَوْلَا ٱجْتَبَيْتَهَا قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أَتَّبِعُ مَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ مِن رَّبِّى هَٰذَا بَصَآئِرُ مِن رَّبِّكُمْ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ 203

203.  And when thou bringest not a verse for them they say: Why hast thou not chosen it? Say: I follow only that which is inspired in me from my Lord. This (Qur’an) is Insight from your Lord, and a Guidance and Mercy for a people that believe.
203.  Wa  ‘izaa  lam  ta’-tihim-  bi-‘Aayaatin  qaaluu  law  lajta-baytahaa.  Qul  ‘innamaaa  ‘attabi-‘u  maa  yuu-haaa  ‘i-layya  mir-Rabbih. Haazaa  Basaaa-‘iru  mir-Rabbikum  Wa  Hudanw-wa  Rahmatul-li-qaw-miny-yu’-minuun.

Commentary

‘Aayaatin – (here it aims – a verse of Holy Qur’an or any miracle).

‘Ijtabayta-haa – (you have chosen it), it is past tense, origin of which is ‘ijtabaaa’. ‘Ijtabaaa’ means “choosing a thing from a heap”. This word has been derived from jabyun, from which the word jabaayah has been made, which means – a thing, sum etc. liked by someone. Tax of agricultural land is called Jabaayah also, which is collected by the ruler from public according to his will.

Basaaa-‘iru – (insight, to strike, discrimination, perception), this word is plural of basiiratun, which means “internal sight”, it means also “which makes one to understand the way of wisdom”.

It is effect of being entangled in the matters and things of the world that a mankind becomes careless from the side of his Creator and does not believe in His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) and Holy Qur’an etc. In such a manner, the infidels used to say the Messenger of God Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) a juggler and magician (Let us flee to God) and deride the verses of Holy Qur’an and Miracles. These are the brethren of the Devil and work according to his will. They do not use own sense.

It is commanded that such people are so much away from understanding the truth that they give an order to bring the verses and demand the miracles in accord with their will. When their demand is not fulfilled then they make a joke that God Almighty, in Whom; He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) has belief, has not as much power that He may fulfill according to the Messenger’s (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) request. And then; they used to produce a rudely view that “ultimate, you invent the Qur’an yourself (God forbid). Why do you not invent it when we demand and why do you not choose only those things from unusual matters which we like to see?

It is commanded: Say! You did not understand the actual matter. Neither am I a juggler and nor make up any story. I follow correctly only those Commands; which are inspired in Me from My Lord. I act upon those Revelations Myself and then put before you the same. Every verse is sufficient to open your eyes if you meditate. And if you follow them with pure belief, then these are Guidance and Mercy for the Believers and a standard-bearer of the success. These Commands will open the door of every useful matter and will not leave the obedient without making them triumphant in the both worlds.

Traps of Satan - Quran Chapter 7 – 201 & 202 (Pt-9, Stg-2) (L-1073) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 7 – 201 & 202 (Pt-9, Stg-2) (L-1073) - درس قرآن

Traps of Satan

Chapter ‘Al-‘A’raaf (The Heights) – Surah – 7)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّقَوْا۟ إِذَا مَسَّهُمْ طَٰٓئِفٌ مِّنَ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ تَذَكَّرُوا۟ فَإِذَا هُم مُّبْصِرُونَ 201

  وَإِخْوَٰنُهُمْ يَمُدُّونَهُمْ فِى ٱلْغَىِّ ثُمَّ لَا يُقْصِرُونَ 202

201.  Lo! those who ward off (evil), when a glamour from the devil troubleth them, they do but remember (Allah’s Guidance) and behold them seers!

202.  And their brethren plunge them further into error and cease not.
201.  ‘Innal-laziinat-taqaw  ‘izaa  massahum  taaa-‘ifum-minash-Shay-taani  tazakkaruu  fa-‘izaa  hum-mubsiruun.

202.  Wa  ‘ikh-waanuhum  yamudduu-nahum  fil-gayyi  summa  laa  yuq-siruun.

Commentary

Taaa-‘ifun – (one who wanders around), it is “the subject” from the word tawf. Tawf means “to wander around”. The devils wander around the mankind every time and whenever they want, touch him, due to which; he slips from the Straight Path.

Mubsiruun – (apprehend through the senses), it is “the subject” and plural from mubsir. Origin of this word is ‘absaar, which means “to behold, to see”. Here it aims “to see with internal eye i.e. to understand”.

Yamudduun – (they drag, pull), origin of this word is maddun, which means “to pull”. Yamudduun means “they pull them, that is to say; they bring them toward straying.

Laa  yuq-siruun – (they do not cease, leave no stone unturned), origin of this word is ‘aqsaar, which means “to fall short, to fail to be lacking (in)”. This word has been derived from qasar, which means “to shorten, to prevent, to fix on etc.”Laa yuq-siruun means “they leave no stone unturned”.

Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) was directed in the previous verse that He should be in patience and restraint against the enemies. Outrage and anger are devilish temptation. He should seek refuge in God Almighty from it. Here, the followers of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) have been guided that they should follow His foot-steps.

It is commanded that the people who obey the commands of Allah Almighty, upon them, when Satan persuades, they become alert at once and remember that they have been ordered to be saved from the Devil. As soon as they remember it, they understand that they must seek refuge in God Almighty. Immediately, they turn their attention to Him and beg: Our Lord! Bestow us power so that we may be saved from the tricks of Satan because we are not able to save ourselves from his attack, and You fulfill all necessities of everything. These are meanings of Laa Hawla Wa Laa Quwwata ‘Illaa BIllaah, in simple English it means “There is neither might nor power except with Allah”. The meaning of لا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله has been explained by RasulUllaah (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) himself: “There is no might to avoid disobeying Allah except by the protection of Allah and no strength to obey Allah except with the help of Allah.” One can reflect on this explanation when reciting it. This powerful statement is the proclamation that: All power, might, strength, grandeur and glory are by Allah, from Allah and belong to Allah.

The above mentioned words are very useful when the devilish whims mislead to the human being. But those people who are weak in Belief, they are deceived by Satan easily and he involves them in labyrinth of straying, from where, it becomes difficult for them to come out without guidance of any Aware. Therefore, it is necessary to obey the commands of own advisers and well-wishers.

Behavior with the Stubborn - Quran Chapter 7 – 199 to 200 (Pt-9, Stg-2) (L-1072) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 7 – 199 to 200 (Pt-9, Stg-2) (L-1072) - درس قرآن

Behavior with the Stubborn

Chapter ‘Al-‘A’raaf (The Heights) – Surah – 7)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

 خُذِ ٱلْعَفْوَ وَأْمُرْ بِٱلْعُرْفِ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ ٱلْجَٰهِلِينَ 199

 وَإِمَّا يَنزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ نَزْغٌ فَٱسْتَعِذْ بِٱللَّهِ إِنَّهُۥ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ 200

199.  Keep to forgiveness (O Muhammad), and enjoin kindness, and turn away from the ignorant.

200.  And if a slander from the devil afflict thee, then seek refuge in Allah. Lo! He is Hearer, Knower.
199.  Khuzil-‘afwa  wa’-mur  bil-‘urfi  wa  ‘a’-riz  ‘anil-jaahiliin.

200.  Wa  ‘immaa  yanzagannaka  minash-Shay-taani  nazgun-  fasta-‘iz  BIllaah.  ‘InnaHuu  Samii-‘un  ‘Aliim.

Commentary

‘Afwun – (forgiveness), we have discussed about this word in Surah Baqarah. It has many meanings, one of which is “endurance, patience”. Here it aims the same.

Yanzagannaka – {if someone (afflict you)}, the origin of this word is nazgun, which exists in the same verse after it. Nazgun means “to tamper with any tipped object, to stab any pointed thing”. Here it aims “devilish whim”.

It was described in the previous verses that some people are believers of Allah Almighty; even then they ascribe plurality to God Almighty in the birth of a child after its birth. Even that they name him like idolaters as Abdul Harith etc. Therefore, the human being has been informed about the evils of polytheism. It is true but speaking the truth before any mankind is just like involving oneself in quarrel with him. So, flaming by the idolaters was not a grand thing. Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) described them openly in a previous verse: Call upon your so-called partners (of God Almighty), then contrive against Me, spare Me not. They can never hurt Me because My Protecting Friend is Allah Almighty.

Being Protecting Friend, Allah Almighty guides His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) in this verse about the behavior which must be adopted in future.

It is commanded: O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him)! Keep to forgiveness, enjoin kindness and turn away from the ignorant. Speak the truth and carry on laying stress on the people to perform the works; good for the humanity. You should not respond to the opponents if they begin to treat You with rudeness and ignorance. You must tolerate the grief/pain which they tease.

If any time, Satan excites You that the people have been disgracing You. So, You should respond with abuse to their abuse and kick them if they give you a blow.

You should seek refuge in Allah Almighty immediately if; due to natural tendencies of humankind, you have any fear of affect of this whim, because He is Hearer and Knower. Do not respond their abusive conduct. Mind Your own business.

It is as much big useful advice that grandest social and political problems of the life can be solved with it. Whenever anyone gets chance; should enjoin for good works and speak the truth. Respond with patience and tolerance to the enemies when they provoke, and do not provide opportunity of dispute from own side. A Day of final Judgment will come and the Support of God Almighty will be with the Patient, if disbelievers do not accept it.
