It is better if you remain away from evildoers - Quran Chapter 9 – 47 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1196) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 9 – 47 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1196) - درس قرآن

It is better if you remain away from evildoers

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

لَوْ خَرَجُوا۟ فِيكُم مَّا زَادُوكُمْ إِلَّا خَبَالًا وَلَأَوْضَعُوا۟ خِلَٰلَكُمْ يَبْغُونَكُمُ ٱلْفِتْنَةَ وَفِيكُمْ سَمَّٰعُونَلَهُمْ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ 47

47.  Had they gone forth among  you they had added to you naught save trouble and had hurried to and fro among you, seeking to cause sedition among you; and among you there are some who would have listened to them. And Allah is Aware of evildoers.
47.  Law  kharajuu  fiikum-maa  zaa-duukum  ‘illaa  khabaalanw-wa  la-‘awza-‘uu  khilaalakum  yabguuna-kumul-fitnah.  Wa  fiikum  Sammaa-‘uuna  lahum.  WAllaahu ‘Aliimum-biz-zaalimiin.

Commentary

Khabaalan – (trouble), it is a noun, which means mischief, disturbance and destruction etc. we have discussed about this word in Surah ‘Aali-‘Imraan.

La-‘awza-‘uu – {(of course; (they would have hurried to and fro)}, which word la has been used in the beginning, that means “of course”. Then the word ‘awza’uu has come, which is a past tense from the word ‘iizaa-‘un. ‘Iizaa-‘un has been derived from the word waza-‘a. Waza-‘a means “to keep”. ‘Iizaa-‘un means “to step in quickly, moving fast”.

It was described in the previous verse that the people who were not getting ready to go forth with you in the forthcoming Battle, and seeking excuses to remain behind, that is from God Almighty. He does not like that they should participate in this Battle, and travel along with you. Therefore, He has turned their hearts from this side, and prevented them from going forth. And He has excited them that they should sit along with the crippled people. Allah Almighty has told the reason that; why He does not desire that they should join you for this Battle.

It is commanded that they have no interest in Islam and Jihad. If they had gone forth also along with you, they would have tried to make you too careless from your duty. Performing not the duty, considering it duty, and including with it some more purposes, for example; exhilarating and amusement, reputation, fame and worldly benefits, is a sign of destruction. They would not have been useful for you but to sow the seed of dissension among you. There are some such people also between you who listen to them and tell them your secrets. God Almighty knows them very well.

Proof of hypocrisy - Quran Chapter 9 – 46 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1195) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 9 – 46 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1195) - درس قرآن

Proof of hypocrisy

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

وَلَوْ أَرَادُوا۟ ٱلْخُرُوجَ لَأَعَدُّوا۟ لَهُۥ عُدَّةً وَلَٰكِن كَرِهَ ٱللَّهُ ٱنۢبِعَاثَهُمْ فَثَبَّطَهُمْ وَقِيلَ ٱقْعُدُوا۟ مَعَ ٱلْقَٰعِدِينَ 46

46.  And if they had wished to go forth they would assuredly have made ready some equipment, but Allah was averse to their being sent forth and held them back and it was said (unto them): Sit ye with the sedentary!
46.  Wa  law  ‘araadul-khuruuja  la-‘a-adduu  lahuu  ‘uddatanw- wa  laakin  kari-hAllaahum-bi-‘aasahum  fasabba-tahum  wa  qiilaq-‘uduu  ma-‘al-qaa-‘idiin.

Commentary

‘A-adduu – {they (would have been prepared)}, it is a past tense, origin of which is ‘i’-daad, it is from ‘adad. ‘addun means “to count”. ‘I’-daad means “to manage, to arrange for goods of necessity, to store the things duly counted for emergency”.

‘Im-bi-‘aasun – (to rise up unexpectedly), this word has been derived from ba-‘asa. Ba-‘asa is a transitive, which means “to cause to rise up someone else, to send the other after making him ready”. The word ‘Im-ba-‘aas is its intransitive, that is to say; to stand up by oneself and go forth after preparation.

Sabba-ta – (held back), it is past tense, origin of which is tas-biit, which has been made from sabat. Meaning of both words i.e. tasbiit and sabat are the same “to stop from any particular work, but the word tasbiit has more force. It aims “to ensnare any person in other pastimes for preventing from the actual job”.

It is commanded: O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him)! A lie of these people; who say themselves “Muslims, is clear from it that they did not make themselves ready to go forth, who say: We are ready to go forth with you, but we have some such work that; before completing it, we cannot go.

They say: We were ready to go forth (for the Battle of Tabuuk) but due to compulsion of such and such work, we are unable to move. But if you see at their homes, you will find that they have made no preparation for the journey. Actually, God Almighty does not like their participation in this Battle. They do not think that they should rise up to move along with others.

God Almighty has turned their hearts from this conception. Therefore, they do not think about going forth, but they have intended strongly that they would not move. They have remained involved always in this bad habit of deceiving and harming the Muslims. So, it is their ill-luck that God Almighty has bereaved them of the excellence of participation in the Battle and said: Sit ye too with the sedentary. The Muslims will come back from this journey being triumphant. And you will be distressed and disgraced for ever by sitting due to your evil days.

Fraud of deceivers - Quran Chapter 9 – 45 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1194) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 9 – 45 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1194) - درس قرآن

Fraud of deceivers

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

إِنَّمَا يَسْتَـْٔذِنُكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْءَاخِرِ وَٱرْتَابَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ فَهُمْ فِى رَيْبِهِمْ يَتَرَدَّدُونَ 45

45.  They alone ask leave of thee who believe not in Allah and the Last Day, and whose hearts feel doubt, so in their doubt they waver.
45.  ‘Inna-maa  yasta’-zinu-kallaziina  laa  yu’-minuuna  BIllaahi  wal-Yawmil-‘Aakhiri  war-taabat  quluubuhum  fahum  fii  ray-bihim  yata-radda-duun.

Commentary

Yasta’-zinu – (asking leave), this word has been used already in the previous verse. Its origin is ‘iznun. ‘Iznun is a famous word, which means leave, permission. From the same origin, a word ‘istiizaan has been derived, which means ‘azan‘Azan means “to ask for leave”.

‘Ir-taabat – (in doubt), Taraddad, which has been derived from radd. Radd means “to reject”. Taraddad means hesitation, when the heart rejects every meaning of any word, and it does not satisfy on anyone.

It was commanded in the verse before this; that those people who believe in Allah Almighty and have faith that surely; the Day of Resurrection will come, making excuses do not strike them. They wait for the command that when they are asked to sacrifice their lives and wealth (everything) in the Way of God Almighty, so that they may perform immediately.

Now; it is being commanded that only those people make excuses who say much verbally, but their hearts do neither believe in God Almighty and nor have faith in the Day of Resurrection. Their hearts remain seized in doubts. They consider that the benefits and comfort of this world is everything. They are unable to see above it. If any time, they reaped advantage from the Muslims and their works, then they began to follow them. But whenever any occasion of bearing hardships and suffering distresses came, they stole away by making different kinds of excuses, and for showing, they got permission of absence from the Messenger of God Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him).

Known that the Sign of Belief is that; as soon as one received the command from Allah Almighty and His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), got ready to obey without any delay. Whosoever made excuses and did not obey, he does not know the reality of the Belief.

44.  Laa  yas-ta’-zinu-kal-laziina  yu’-minuuna  Billaahi  wa- Yawmil-  ‘Aakhiri  ‘any-yujaahiduu  bi-‘amwaa-lihim  wa  ‘anfu-sihim.  WAllaahu  ‘Aliimum-  bil- Muttaqiin.

Commentary

It was told to the Messenger of God Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) in the previous verse that these people who pretend, come unto you running, they desire to show you only apparently that they are very obedient and servants of you, and obey properly your every command without dispute. In fact, they are cunning. They have determined that they will never partake in this Battle (the Battle of Tabuuk). But by bringing forward excuses for pretense, they want from you to leave them, so that they should not be humiliated by the people. Demanding leave in such situation is not work of true people and believers. Strong Believers wait for such occasions, so that they may be successful before Glorious and Almighty God by performing attentively and deserve rewards and dignities on the Day of Resurrection.

Seeking excuses and requesting that they should be left behind before moving for Jihad is a token of first class faithlessness, because the Belief does not grant permission for it that, for being saved from the Command of Allah Almighty, one seek excuses. In this verse, the same condition has been explained.

It is commanded that those people who believe in God Almighty and in the Day of Resurrection, they do love their lives and wealth never more than obeying the Commands of Allah Almighty. They use to wait that when such occasion comes and they sacrifice their lives and wealth in the Way of God Almighty.

It is the sign of Belief in Allah Almighty and in the Day of Resurrection that one should think only about the pleasure of Allah Almighty; leaving everything. And he should not consider it difficult to give up ease and comfort of the world for the sake of rest and peace of the Day of Resurrection. All of us should observe the condition of our Beliefs every time in accordance with this standard.

If we long for the pleasures of this world and do not emphasize the Day of Resurrection, then according to this verse, there is a fault in our Belief. We are not satisfied with God Almighty and His Promises. We love more the money and the splendor of this world. Our Lord! Save us from such thinking.

Hidden thoughts of Hypocrites - Quran Chapter 9 – 43 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1192) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 9 – 43 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1192) - درس قرآن

Hidden thoughts of Hypocrites

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

عَفَا ٱللَّهُ عَنكَ لِمَ أَذِنتَ لَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكَ ٱلَّذِينَ صَدَقُوا۟ وَتَعْلَمَ ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ 43

43.  Allah forgive thee (O Muhammad)! Wherefor didst thou grant them leave ere those who told the truth were manifest to thee and thou didst know the liars?
43.  ‘AfAllaahu  ‘ank.  Lima  ‘a-zinta  lahum  hattaa  yata-bayyana  lakal-laziina  sadaquu  wa  ta’-lamal-kaazibiin.

Commentary

‘Afaa – (forgive), this word is from ‘afawun‘afawun means “to forgive”. But when talking with one another, the people use this word for supplication in favor of every other person, at that time, it is meant as “kindness and mercy. The meanings of “God forgive you” are taken in the same sense, which is of “God bless you”. Here, ‘AfAllaahu  ‘ank has been used in the same way as we say usually in our conversion YarhamukAllaah or RahimakAllaah to everyone.

It was described in the previous verses that some people whose beliefs are incorrect, they participate in easy tasks fondly, in which, with a little work, they hope that they would obtain much wealth. But they desert their companions in passing through the difficult paths and undergoing hard labors. In this verse, the circumstances of such Hypocrites have been explained.

It is commanded that these cunning people have decided that they would not partake in the Battle of Tabuuk. But they desire to show that they are not participating, by taking permission from You {O Muhammad (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him)}, based on any strong excuse. You grant them permission considering that they are speaking the truth. May God Almighty forgive you. They would not have participated if you had not granted them permission. However, it was beneficial if you had not permitted them, so that their secret would have been betrayed, and they were proved as disobedient and liars. And they could never get themselves counted in the true and obedient people. And the Muslims would have known openly that “evading on very little matters is a sign of hypocrisy”.

The Hypocrites used to come unto the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) and say: We would have participated in this Battle but now we are sorry, we cannot participate under such and such situations because of so and so reasons. The Messenger of God Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) used to accept their excuses, considering that it is equal if they participate or otherwise, and used to grant them leave to stay at home.

It has been described in this verse that “If you had not granted them permission then it would be distinguished between the liars and the true. There is no reproof in it, but the aim is to disclose in courteous words, the inner wickedness of the Hypocrites, with which the Hypocrites may also understand that their trick has not been hidden. The entire people know them due to their wicked deeds.

Tricks of Hypocrites

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

42.  Had it been a near adventure and an easy journey they had followed thee, but the distance seemed too far for them. And will they swear by Allah (saying): If we had been able we would surely have set out with you. They destroy their souls, and Allah knoweth that they verily are liars.
42.  Law  kaana  ‘arazan-  qarii-banw-wa  safaran-  qaasidal-lattaba-‘uuka  wa  laakim-ba-‘udat  ‘alay-himush-shuqqah.  Wa  sayahli-fuuna  BIllaahi  la-wista-ta’-naa  la-kharajnaa  ma-‘akum.  Yuhli-kuuna  ‘anfusa-hum.  Wallaahu  ya’-lamu  ‘innahum  la-kaazibuun.

Commentary

‘Araza – (an adventure, spoils of war), this word has been used earlier. ‘Araza means every kind of goods and wealth etc. Here it aims the spoils of the Battle.

Qaasidan – (easy, comfortable, light), this word is a subject from the word qasadun. Qasadun is middle and straight path, central condition; which is pure from inflation and deflation. Qaasid means “that individual who goes straight, a thing or condition in which; there is no pain or distress. Here it aims the same. From the same; a word ‘iqtasaad has come out which means “balanced path, in which; moderate condition is kept in view. Qasad means drawing attention toward a side also, as well as the individual who draws his attention too. Qaasid is used for the word a courier or messenger” also.

Shuqqatun – (space of a journey), ruggedly detour, distance between two things. It is a noun which has been made from shaqq. Shaqqun means “to break, to make two pieces by amputating”. A word shaqaaq has been derived from it also which means “the dispute among the people themselves”. This word has come in Surah Al-Baqarah too, in the same appropriateness; the distance between two things is called shuqqah.

Command of preparation for the Battle of Tabuuk was such hard trial, in which; it was very difficult to pass; for those people whose belief was weak. It is commanded that if they had hope that after a little distance; they would be able to obtain the spoils of war and the journey was without difficulties and hardships, then they would have gone along with you happily. But due to adopting so long distance, their life comes out. Certainly, they will pretend, so that they should not be included in the journey of war. Some of them will swear before your departure and some after your returning that they had to go with you, but there were some such necessary works to do that they could not partake in the journey.

With these actions they have been going to make their own loss. They will be ruined in this world as well as on the Day of Resurrection. God Almighty knows very well that they are liars.
