Allah has been observing work of everyone

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

104.  Know they not that Allah is He Who accepteth Repentance from His bondmen and taketh the alms, and that Allah is He Who is the Relenting, the Merciful.

105.  And say (unto them): Act! Allah will behold your actions, and (so will) His Messenger and the Believers. And ye will be brought back to the Knower of the Invisible and the Visible, then He will tell you what ye used to do.
104.  ‘A-lam  ya’-lamuuu  ‘annAllaaha  Huwa  yaqba-lut-TAWBATA  ‘an  ‘ibaadiHii  wa  ya’-khuzus-sadaqaati  wa  ‘annAllaaha  Huwat-Tawwaabur-Rahiim.

105.  Wa  quli’-maluu  fasaya-rAllaahu  ‘amalakum  wa  RasuuluHuu  wal-Mu’-minuun.  Wa  satu-rad-duuna  ‘ilaa  ‘Aalimil-gaybi  wash-shahaadati  fa-yunabbi-‘ukum-  bimaa  kuntum  ta’-maluun.

Commentary

‘As-sadaqaati – (the alms), this word is plural of sadaqatun, which has passed in the verse before this. The origin of this word is sadaqa. Two words from it are famous –sidq and sadaaqat. The first word means “the truth” and the second word aims “well-wishing and friendship”.

The truth and the friendship have deep relationship with each other. The friend is he whose heart is true and open. Sadaqah is the thing which is given happily, truly and being well-wisher to someone else for fulfilling his requirement. One more word saduqah has been derived from the same origin which means mahar, which is given to the bride at the time of her wedding. However, here it aims – duty, alms and the work of supererogation.

Those people know who believe that Allah Almighty accepts repentance, supplication and alms of the people Himself, and He is Kind directly to His bondmen. It is commanded in this verse that the human beings should know that they are directly connected with Allah Almighty. Which works will they perform for His Cause, He will accept them.

He commands also: Say unto them! Perform good works. Certainly Allah beholds your every deed, however, His Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) and all Believers will see also. You will be treated in the world according to your actions. At last; you will be produced before Allah Almighty. He knows your entire secret and open matters. He will tell you that what the result of your worldly actions is, and what is their retribution.

Inducing for good works - Quran Chapter 9 – 103 (Pt-11, Stg-2) (L-1243) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 9 – 103 (Pt-11, Stg-2) (L-1243) - درس قرآن

Inducing for good works

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

103.  Take alms of their wealth, wherewith thou mayst purify them and mayst make them grow, and pray for them. Lo! Thy prayer is an assuagement for them. And Allah is Hearer, Knower.
103.  Khuz  min  ‘amwaalihim  sadaqatan-  tutahhiru-hum  wa  tuzakki-him  bihaa  wa  salli  ‘alay-him.  ‘Inna  salaataka  sakanul-lahum.  Wallaahu  Samii-‘un  ‘Aliim.

Commentary

Tutahhiru – (you may purify), origin of this word is tat-hiir, which means “to purify”. Its base is tahara. Two other words from it - tahar and tahaarat are more used. Meaning of these both words are “cleanliness and elegance”.

Tuzakkii – {you may make (them) grow}, its origin is taz-kiyah, which means “to increase, to enlarge”. Zakaat is a famous word from its origin, which means “alms, to give money to any needy person from own wealth”. It is cause of increasing the wealth. And it is called “making grow (barakah)”. Zakaat (paying the poor-due) is cause of increasing the wealth and making it grown.

It was discussed in the previous lesson that many servants of Allah Almighty are those who believe in God and the Hereafter heartily. But the errors are committed by them also. Such people should repent immediately (without further delay) and do good works, because performing good is expiation of errors.

One particular good work has been mentioned in this verse, due to which; the sins are forgiven and the condition of the society is set off. And the common people do not indulge in sins due to poverty and starvation.

It is commanded: You should take alms from their earnings for the necessitous people, because alms will purify them from their errors and the people will become more prosperous. Prosperity of the people provides opportunity of calling them unto good works.

Then you should pray for them also, because their hearts will be satisfied when you will supplicate for them; as well as they will think: “Allah Almighty and His Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) are our Supporters. One (God) is causing to rain on us of His Mercy and the Other {God’s Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam)} is supplicating for our betterment”.

Passion of doing good and giving alms and charity will grow in their hearts, and their mutual co-operation will increase. They will wish to do good works more and more, and will find occasion of talking about good matters altogether too. Allah Almighty is Hearer of all these matters and Knower of intentions hidden in the hearts. He will guide them unto the Straight Path of goodness, and He will be Merciful on them.

Commentary

The Muslims are being informed about the circumstances of common people; who have embraced Islam. It was told in the previous verse that from them, some wandering Arabs and some those people who live in Madinah city, have not accepted Islam with their hearts. Apparently they talk as the Muslims, but their hearts are empty from the Belief.

They meet the Muslims regularly, but at different occasions; they talk with such words, due to which the Muslims are at a loss. Their outward Islam will not be useful. These evil-minded people will reach their recompense for the evil done. Once they will be given faulty fruit against their hypocrisy in this world. Second time uneasiness will be for them in the grave; and their wicked deeds will keep them entangled in pain and suffering by adopting frightful forms. And at last; third time; they will become the stock for the Fire of the Hell.

It has been described in this verse that there are some such people in the Muslims also who believe in Allah Almighty heartily and obey the Sayings of His Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) having faith that He is Rightful. But due to natural weakness, any error occurs by them. And when they return to sense and understanding, then they repent due to their sin; being abashed, and admit their error and renounce for future. But again, the Devil entraps them and they commit any mistake, then again they repent. Similarly, these people use to perform and commit good and bad deeds respectively, because correct Belief exists in their hearts. Therefore, it is hoped that Allah Almighty will forgive their errors and provide them refuge in the Vicinity of His Mercy, because His Forgiveness and Mercy is very vast.

It seems that maximum Muslims are included in this category. They should remain far from polytheism, and if they have committed any error due to human natural tendencies, then immediately; they should be present in the Court of Allah Almighty and ask for forgiveness by imploring earnestly and humbly, repent with true heart; and disobey not intentionally. Hope that Allah Almighty will forgive their errors.

Circumstances of the people around - Quran Chapter 9 – 101 (Pt-11, Stg-2) (L-1241) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 9 – 101 (Pt-11, Stg-2) (L-1241) - درس قرآن

Circumstances of the people around

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

101.  And among those around you of the wandering Arabs there are hypocrites, and among the townspeople of Al-Madinah (there are some who) persist in hypocrisy whom thou (O Muhammad) knowest not. We know them. Then We shall chastise them twice; then they will be relegated to a painful doom.
101.  Wa  mim-man  haw-lakum-minal-‘A’-raabi  Munaafiquun.  Wa  min  ‘ahlil-Madiinati  maraduu-  ‘alan-nifaaq.  Laa  ta’-lamuhum.  Nahnu  Na’-lamuhum.  SaNu-‘azzi-buhum-marra-tayni  summa  yuradduuna  ‘ilaa  ‘azaabin  ‘Aziim.

Commentary

Maraduu – (they persist), this word has been made from marada. From the same origin, one more word tamarrad has been derived, which is a famous word. Marada means “rebellion, refractoriness”, result of which is “to persist in any matter unreasonably”. In the word tamarrad; these meanings are very clear i.e. disobeying the command haughtily.

Habits and nature of the wandering Arabs (villagers) were disclosed in the previous verses, that they fear from those restrictions; which are incurred by Islam; particularly they shirk from expending their money. Then, it was described that some wandering Arabs are those who are civilized and they believe in Allah Almighty and expend for the Cause of God Almighty with generosity and consider it a means of God’s pleasure and acquiring blessings of His Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam). Certainly, sacrifices, alms and charities of those Believers will bring them close to Allah Almighty.

In this verse, circumstances of the population of Madinah and its surroundings have been described. It is commanded that some people among the wandering Arabs who are around you, are hypocrites, but apparently they show themselves as Muslims. And there are many people in Madinah also; who persist in hypocrisy.

Observing their apparent style and behavior, it is difficult to say that they are only ostensive Muslims, but Allah Almighty knows their all conditions. They will be punished twice:

1.   They will be disgraced and entangled in worldly calamities. Then they will be suffering from torture in their graves.

2.   After all, they will be thrown into the biggest Torture Cell – the Fire of the Hell; on the Day of Resurrection.

It signifies that becoming apparent Muslim for the purpose of any worldly desire; cannot be saved lastly from the punishment. For obtaining deliverance, Belief in the heart is very necessary.

Commentary

Those people who did not value the commandments of God’s Last Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam), they lost their religion as well as relinquished from their world too within a few days. But some people ran straightway as soon as they heard the voice of God’s obedient Servant and His Last Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) saying Labbayk, and they gripped up their loins for His (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) help. After that, other people followed them also, and they began to enter in the circle of Islam one by one. They got success in the world and in the Hereafter too; they deserved favors and honors of God Almighty.

After describing the circumstances of the opposite people, in this verse; conditions of those people have been explained who accepted the invitation of Islam. There were some classes into them also. Some of them were those who embraced Islam as soon as they heard, but some people were those who entered in Islam slowly and gradually.

It is commanded: Those first people; who led for entering in Islam; as soon as they heard the Voice of the Caller (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam), some of which people were Emigrants of Makkah and some Inhabitants of Madinah, plus those, who entered in Islam one by one sincerely and honestly after them, Allah Almighty is well pleased with all of them and they are well pleased with Allah Almighty. That is to say; Allah Almighty liked their purity and honesty, and leaving everything they also got support of Allah Almighty. They got ready to suffer from difficulties in His obedience. For all of them; God Almighty has made the flourishing and green Gardens ready; underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide for ever. In fact it is the biggest success.

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

99.  And among the wandering Arabs are those who believe in Allah and the Last Day and take that which they expend to be a means of bringing them near to Allah and the Blessings of the Messenger.  Lo! Verily it is means of nearness for them. Allah will bring them into His Mercy. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
99.  Wa  minal-‘A’-raabi  many-yu’-minu  Billaahi  wal-Yawmil-‘Aakhiri  wa  yattakhizu  maa  yunfiqu  quru-baatin  ‘indAllaahi  wa  Salawaatir-Rasuul.  ‘Alaaa  ‘innahaa  qurbatul-lahum.  Sayud-khilu-humUllaahu  fii RahmatiH.  ‘InnAllaaha  Gafuurur-Rahiim.

Commentary

Quru-baatin – (nearness), this word is plural of qurbatun, which means “nearness”. Here it aims “a means of nearness”.

Salawaatun – (the Blessings), it is plural of the word Salaatun. Prayers of Sage and Pious people for others are called Salawaat, praying, Du’aa).

It was described earlier that some wandering Arabs are unfortunate from the side of their good manners; being deprived of civilized surroundings, education and training. If they have to expend anything for the Cause of Allah Almighty, they make faces and curse the Muslims that: they should be ruined, they give us trouble.

Its reason is that they are ignorant from their Creator, Allah Almighty; and consider that only they are everything. If they believe in Allah Almighty, accounts of the Day of Resurrection, and reward or punishment against good or evil deeds, then it is impossible that they may talk so stupidly.

Contrary to them, some villagers/wandering Arabs are good also. They are not influenced from bad environment of the village due to their good nature. They are sure that Allah Almighty is Rightful and True, and certainly the Day of Resurrection will come, and we shall be rewarded or punished on that Day according to our deeds. In this verse, those people have been mentioned.

It is commanded: Among the wandering Arabs, there are some good people too. Their natural purity does not let them deprived of good works and fair thoughts. They believe in Allah Almighty (God) and the Last Day (the Day of Resurrection), and whatever they expend, consider it a means of nearness to Allah Almighty and His Pleasure. And they take it a source of Blessings from the Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam).

Listen to it that their hope shall be fulfilled. And Allah Almighty will bestow them His nearness. Blessings of God’s Messenger (SallAllaahu alayHi wa AaliHii Wasallam) will remove their difficulties and relieve them from all kinds of distress. God Almighty will forgive their sins and errors, and bring them into His Mercy, because He is Forging and Merciful.
