Light and darkness are not equal - Quran Chapter 6 – 122 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-881) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 6 – 122 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-881) - درس قرآن

Light and darkness are not equal

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

122.  Is he who was dead and We have raised him unto life, and set for him a light wherein he walketh among men, as him whose similitude is in utter darkness whence he cannot emerge? Thus is their conduct made fair-seeming for the disbelievers.
122.  ‘Awa-  man-  kaana  maytan  fa-‘ahyay-Naahu  wa  ja-‘alNaa  lahuu  Nuurany-yamshii  bihii  fin-naasi  kamam-masaluhuu  fiz-zulumaati  laysa  bi-khaarijim-minhaa.  Kazaalika  zuyyina  lil-kaafiriina  maa  kaanuu  ya’-maluun.

Commentary

In the previous verses, the commands regarding the dead animal and that over which the name of Allah mentioned at the time of slaughtering was described that the dead animal is abomination, forbidden, unlawful and unfit for food, whereas those animals, meat of which is permitted to be eaten and whereon the name of Allah has been mentioned during their slaughtering; are lawful and fit for food.

It was commanded too that those people who do not obey Allah Almighty, His last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) and the last Scripture i.e. Holy Qur’an, they are not able to be heard. The same reality has been caused here to understand by means of an example.

It has been described by Allah Almighty that a man was dead (gloomy) due to ignorance and error. Then We bestowed him the soul of Belief and brought him to life. After that, We presented a Light for him, by which, he understands well looking everything, walks among the people with the same and can observe goodness and badness of their matters.

Whether a person may be the equivalent of him, who has been encircled in various kinds of darkness and there is no form of his coming out from them? Neither his heart is living which may be by the perfect belief, and nor he has any Light with which he may see the things around and distinguish in good and bad.

In such darkness, he takes everything, only those things which either he possesses or someone has caused him to be caught. Except them, neither he can see anything and nor understand, because the darkness is in his eyes and his heart is imperfect. The veils of ignorance have been, clouds of bias have overcast him and the people like him have been corroborating him continuously.

It is the reason that he has been overwhelming in his own wrong deeds. These are the dimness and darkness which have surrounded him. Nothing is valuable before his eyes except his own deeds, matters and thinking. It is clear that either only he is, who likes his own business or those people can accept who are like him.

Those people who have eyes to see and the Light with them, cannot accept their evil deeds because they can observe their goodness and badness with these both things. It can be understood from this discussion easily that how those people take these things as good who have fallen in the darkness?

Whereas, neither they have a living soul and nor the Light, then, how can they see the badness of these matters and deeds? According to the prescribed and established order, it is commanded: We have made for them their conduct as fair-seeming. They do not have the instruments, with which they may see and examine the good things.

Meat of cattle; forbidden from eating - Quran Chapter 6 – 121 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-880) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 6 – 121 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-880) - درس قرآن

Meat of cattle; forbidden from eating

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

121.  And eat not of that whereon Allah’s name hath not been mentioned, for lo! it is abomination. And lo! the devils do inspire their minions to dispute with you. And if ye obey them, ye will be in truth as idolaters.
121.  Wa  laa  ta’-kuluu  mimmaa  lam  yuz-karis-mUllaahi  ‘alayhi  wa  ‘innahuu  la-fisq.  Wa  ‘innash-sha-yaatiina  la-yuu-huuna  ‘ilaaa  ‘awli-yaaa-‘ihim  li-yujaaa-diluukum.  Wa  ‘in  ‘ata’-tumuuhum  ‘innakum  la-mush-rikuun.

Commentary

Fisq – (disobedience, to do against the religious law, abomination, extremely hatred, loathsome), the person who commits such deeds, is called Faasiq – the word Faajir has also the same meaning, which has been derived from fajuur. Fajuur means “to cross the limit violently, to dissipate”.  Here fisq means “eating such thing is against the Divine Way of Religion”.

Li-yujaaa-diluukum – (so that, they dispute with you), the origin of this word ismujaadilah and jidaal, which means “to dispute”. Actually this word is yujaaa-diluuna, however, the alphabet letter “n” has been removed due to the letter “i” which has come before “n”.

‘Awli-yaaa-‘a – is plural of Walii. Walii means – friend, close relative and companion.

It has been described in the previous verses that only that thing is lawful for food, which has been permitted in the Holy Qur’an for eating. You should not care about the people, whether they falsify the commands of Holy Qur’an as much as they wish. Think neither about their false assertion and nor act upon their sayings lest (God forbid) doubt is born in your heart from the Holy Qur’an. You should eat fearless and unhesitatingly, the meat of that lawful animal over which the name of Allah has been mentioned at the time of its slaughter, but eat never the meat of that animal, which has died it-self without slaughtering and mentioning the name of Allah Almighty. This verse explains about the same matter too.

It is commanded that the slaughtered animal over which the name of any other than Allah Almighty has been mentioned at the time of its slaughtering, eating its meat is forbidden and abomination. Otherwise, if you will eat it, you will be certainly a sinner, because it will be against the Law of the Religion.

The devils used to instruct to their disciples and followers that they should continue absurd reasoning with the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him). Their main aim is that somehow You may not abide by the Divine Law of the Religion. What will be the difference among you and the idolaters, if you obeyed them?

The idolaters do the same also, that is to say; neither they believe in Allah Almighty as it is necessary to be believed and nor they care about His Commands. They find faults in it at their own as it has been described earlier.

It is known from this verse that accepting the arbitration of any other person against the decision of Allah Almighty is also as having belief in a plurality of God Almighty. However, if that is not against the commands of Holy Qur’an, then there is no objection. According to this verse, that person, who has any kind of faith against the commands of Holy Qur’an, is included among the idolaters.

Forsake open and hidden sin - Quran Chapter 6 – 120 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-879) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 6 – 120 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-879) - درس قرآن

Forsake open and hidden sin

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

120.  And forsake open and secret sin. And lo! those who garner sin will be awarded that which they earned.
120.  Wa  zaruu  zaahiral-‘ismi  wa  baatinah.  ‘Innal-laziina  yaksi-buunal-‘isma  sa-yuj-zawna  bimaa  kaanuu  yaq-tarifuun.

Commentary

Yaq-tarifuun – (they earn), this word is from ‘iqtaraaf, which has been derived from qaraf. Qaraf means “to gain, to earn, to practice, to work”.

It was discussed in the lessons of previous verses that there are a few people in the world who think correctly and do right. Many are such people who have made over their rope in the hands of their wishes to lead them. They go towards that direction whither their wishes drive them.

The Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) and care of Him, His nation is being commanded that they should not obey/follow others. They should act upon the commands mentioned in the Holy Qur’aan. Following others will lead them astray, whereas going in accordance with the Revelations of Holy Qur’an is just going Straight Way. The same matter has been caused to understand in this verse through another method.

It is commanded that you should leave every kind of sin, whether that is open or hidden. Those people who commit the sin, certainly they will be punished for their evil deeds. It should be understood properly.

If any person commits any deed by the order of any such person, who commands against the Holy Qur’an, that will be an open sin. Moreover, if he performs according to Its command, that will not be an open sin, but if his heart boggles in the command of Holy Qur’an, then it will be a secret sin. One should be saved from these both kinds of sins. Neither should he do by the command of any such person, nor should he have any doubt in the command of Holy Qur’aan by the saying of any other.

Those people who are saved from afflicting others, theft, bribe and immorality due to the fear of government only that lest the police seize and the ruler punish them, they are secret sinners and their such act is a hidden sin, because, whenever they will get such opportunity to commit any sin, in the condition that neither the police can observe them and nor the ruler exists there, at that time they will commit the open sin being fearless.

Therefore, it is the form of being saved from the open and secret sin that they should not forsake the sin only due to the fear of the police or the ruler, but the Believer should forsake the sin as it is disobedience of the command of Holy Qur’an. And he should keep himself away from committing the sin during privacy too, because Holy Qur’an has forbidden him. If he did not do so, then he will be punished in above both forms (of sin – open and secret) according to this verse, because the person, who escapes from the evil deeds due to the fear of police or the ruler, actually his heart is a sinner. And if any other person cannot observe his sin, even then Allah Almighty is Best Aware of his sin.

Likewise there is no one to prevent the sinner during privacy, but he is breaking the command of Holy Qur’an and Allah Almighty is looking at him. He will punish him properly.

The aim of this verse is that our Lord i.e. Allah (God) Almighty commands us to keep our open and secret pure, chaste and clean. He says that neither you should commit any sin before anyone, nor secretly, and neither by your body parts, nor in your heart. Any sin is the sin in all conditions.

Use of lawful and forbidden things - Quran Chapter 6 – 119 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-878) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 6 – 119 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-878) - درس قرآن

Use of lawful and forbidden things

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

119.  And how should ye not eat of that over which the name of Allah hath been mentioned, when He hath explained unto you that which is forbidden unto you unless ye are compelled thereto. And lo! Many lead (others) astray by their own lusts through ignorance. Lo! Thy Lord, He is Best Aware of the transgressors.
119.  Wa  maa  lakum  ‘allaa  ta’-kuluu  mimmaa  zukiras-mUllaahi  ‘alayhi  wa  qad  fassala  lakum-maa  harrama  ‘alay-kum  ‘illaa  maztu-rirtum  ‘ilayh.  Wa  ‘inna  kasii-ral-la-yuzil-luuna  bi-‘ahwaaaa-‘ihim  bi-gayri  ‘ilm.  ‘Inna  Rabbaka  Huwa  ‘a’-lamu  bil-mu’-tadiin.

Commentary

‘Allaa – actually it is a collection of two words – ‘an (that), and laa (no, not). These two words were joined by tashdiid (used to indicate doubling of a letter) (‘allaa for ‘an-laa), so it (n) doesn’t come in speaking. After that, it was left in writing too.

‘Aztu-rirtum – (you are compelled), it is the tense of passive voice. This word is from ‘iztaraar, which has been derived from zarrun. Zarr means “poverty, hardness, helplessness, powerlessness etc.” ‘Iztaraar means “to fall in the tightness, where someone becomes helpless from all sides”.

‘Al-mu’-tadiin – it is plural of the subject mu’-tadii, which has been made from ‘a’-tadaa-‘un. The word ‘A’-tadaa-‘un has been derived from ‘adwaan, which means “rebellion, defiance, refractoriness, oppression etc.” ‘A’-tadaa’ means to rebel, to oppress, that is to say; to cross the limits in any field, to disobey and to oppose the law.

It has been stated that maximum people in the world are slaves of their wishes and they desire to carry on others too according to those wishes. You must not come in their outward artificial things. Moreover, you should abide by the Instructions mentioned in the Holy Qur’an and eat the meat of that lawful animal, over which the name of Allah has been mentioned. It has been explained more clearly in this verse that these slaughtered animals should be those, which have not been forbidden for you.

It is commanded that you were told heretofore clearly about the things, which are unlawful for you. You should not eat them except in that condition, when you are near to die without eating. The words used in the Holy Qur’an for this purpose are ‘illaa maztu-rirtum  ‘ilayh (unless you are compelled thereto). Instead of it, you should eat fondly the meat of that lawful animal, over which the name of Allah has been mentioned. The meat of that lawful animal is also lawful for eating, over which the name of Allah Almighty has been mentioned during slaughtering by anyone at the time of its death. These matters can be understood by those people only who have knowledge of the reality. Whereas, these people are transgressors and Allah Almighty is Best Aware of them.

The astray and the guided - Quran Chapter 6 – 117 & 118 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-877) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 6 – 117 & 118 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-877) - درس قرآن

The astray and the guided

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

118.  Fa-kuluu  mimmaa  zukiras-mUllaahi  ‘alayhi  ‘in-  kuntum-  bi-  ‘AayaatiHii  Mu’-miniin.

Commentary

At that time, when Holy Qur’an was revealed, nearly entire people of the world had gone back from the Way of Allah Almighty. When the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon him) began to explain the real Revelations of Noble Qur’an, it was very troublesome for them to give up their wrong path, because being too much habitual of it; they had seen their own death in this new system and organization, whereas the secret of real life was hidden in it.

The people of Makkah used to criticize the commands of Holy Qur’an. Instead of understanding the actual matter, their only job was to object. The Commentators have explained that when the Holy Qur’an forbade from eating the meat of any dead animal dying naturally and determined it unlawful for eating, hereupon, the infidels of Makkah turned up their nose and knitted the eyebrows according to their habit, and from them, those people, who used to consider themselves more wise, they said: it is strange that the animal, which is killed by Allah, is unlawful for eating, whereas, which is slaughtered by a mankind himself, is lawful.

It was described in the previous verses for warning as its preface and reply that those people, who mislead from the Way of Allah, say about the apparent matter by making reform. But there is nothing in their trickery sayings. The fact is that Lawful and Unlawful is based on the Command of Allah Almighty.

The actual foundation of their objection is that they consider that Allah Almighty should be bound of their wishes, and as their idols say them nothing, they do as they desire, like this Allah Almighty should not give them order (Let’s flee to God). False foundation of their thoughts was disclosed in the previous verses.

It has been described very clearly in this verse that “to order is just the Work of Allah Almighty and to obey His Command is the duty of the entire mankind”.

It is commanded that Allah Almighty knows them best, who err from His Way, as well as them also, who are rightly guided and go straight forward on His prescribed Way. Erroneous way cannot be correct due to their false and destructive thinking. The wrong is always wrong. Therefore, you should not care the sayings of the stupid people.

It is wrong to say that the animal, which dies itself, is killed by Allah Almighty and which is slaughtered according to the instructions of Allah Almighty, is killed by the human being. Allah Almighty kills every soul, whether that is from the mankind or animal kind.

Moreover, because the name of Allah Almighty is mentioned at the time of slaughtering any lawful animal, so due to the Grace of His name, it becomes lawful for eating the meat of that particular animal only. Accordingly, if any animal is slaughtered by mentioning the name of any other than Allah Almighty, that is unlawful too, whether that is slaughtered in accord with the prescribed instructions. For this reason, being lawful is only with the name of Allah Almighty and His commandment.

Refuge from going astray - Quran Chapter 6 – 116 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-876) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 6 – 116 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-876) - درس قرآن

Refuge from going astray

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

A formula for passing a successful life in this world has been signified in this verse for the Muslims. If the believers will act upon this formula, neither will they ever fail and nor go astray from the Straight Path. This Speech is for the Messenger of God Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), whereas the lesson, hidden in it, is being taught to the entire nation.

This is such lesson, which will be a firm Code of Life for the Muslims in each condition and time till the Day of Judgment. If ever, they left acting upon it (God forbid), then they will live nowhere and their national existence will be wiped out like invalid character. It can be understood clearly from this verse that the Muslims should never turn away even a hair’s breadth from SabiiLillaah i.e. the Path of God Almighty.

It is necessary for every Muslim to understand first that the mankind is a passenger in the world. Coming in the world means that the human being has stood out from his home and native country. Now he has to finish this journey by way destination. The end of this journey is “Death”Death means; it is the end of this world’s journey and the mankind has arrived at his abodeFrom birth to death, he has to cross over a very long and wide field. The name of this field is ‘the world’. After death, he will enter in his home country. Name of that home country is “the Doomsday, the next world”. At first, he will have to pass through the stages of “the Grave, the General Resurrection, the Lamentation, reckoning of Accounts, crossing the Bridge over which the righteous will pass to Heaven, and the sinner and evildoer will drop down into the Fire of Hell” . Then he will reach his home, which will be either Paradise or Hell. The Paradise is the place of comfort, whereas the Hell is the place of restlessness.

If the human being desires to reach direct to the Paradise, then a Path has been fixed for him in the world. This Path has been showed by Allah Almighty and for its acquaintance; He has sent His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) with His last Word “Holy Qur’an”. The meaning of going astray from this Path is that the mankind left the Straight Path and entered into the dark forest. Now he doesn’t know; whether he will die; being entangled in the thorny bushes and trees or in any marsh, and what will happen with him in the next stages of death, and what will be exposed to imminent danger in the Hell.

The Straight Path is called “Siraatal-Mustaqiim, SiraatAllaah and Siraatul-‘Ambi-yaa (the Path of Prophets – peace be upon Them)”. Who will escape in the world from swamps, abysses and confusions, will be easy at the time of death, the stages of general resurrection will be finalized easily, and a ready-made, comfortable home will be handed over in the Paradise duly prepared in all respect for living.

This Path can be chosen only by acting upon the Revelations of Noble Qur’an. There are many enemies of the human being, who call towards fulfilling of the worldly desires without any resistance to seduce him/her. Whereas; Holy Qur’an commands: Do in accord with My Instructions by giving up your own wishes. Stop there, wherever I prevent you.

Actual enemy of the humankind is Satan (the Devil), who calls them towards the worldly desires to be fulfilled unchecked, and maximum people of the world follow Satan leavingQur’an. Therefore, the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) has been guided in this verse including the entire human beings and particularly Muslim Nation by means of Him, that there are sufficient devils in the world. You should hold the Noble Qur’an fast and obey not the devils.

Quran Chapter 6 – 116 (Pt-8, Stg-2) (L-875) - درس قرآن

Misguidance

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

116.  And if thou obey most of those on earth they will mislead thee far from Allah’s Way. They follow naught but an opinion, and they do but guess.
116.  Wa  ‘in-  tuti’  ‘aksara  man  fil-‘arzi  yuzil-luuka  ‘an-  SabiiLIllaah. ‘Iny-yattabi-‘uuna  ‘illaz-zanna  wa  ‘in  hum  ‘illaa  yakh-rusuun.

Commentary

‘In – this word has come three times in this verse. First time it means “if”. Second and third time it has been used for the meaning “no, not”. These two types of this word’s meanings must be remembered. It comes often for the meaning “if”, but sometimes it is used for the meaning “no and not”.

Yakh-rusuuna – (they form an opinion), it has been derived from the word kharas, which means “to guess and to say something with rough estimate.

It was described about Holy Qur’an in the previous verses that It is the Word of Allah Almighty. Neither there is any doubt in it and nor any person has any authority to make any kind of amendment in It.

One more reality has been cleared in this verse and the importance of Holy Qur’an has been proved. If, It is understood thoroughly then all the disputes of the life will come to an end. The course of life can be passed with comfort and ease in this world as well as the perpetual pleasures and rest of the Hereafter can be attained too.

The matter to cause to know is that, there are mostly such people, who cannot say surely anything in the world. They affect their purpose by means of judgment and suspicion only. While, contrary to it, every Word of the Holy Qur’an is definite and irrevocable. If giving It up, other people are obeyed then a person will never get anything but error and depravity.

It is commanded: You will see most of such people in the world. If you will abide by their instructions, you will go astray from the correct path, because their sayings are not certain, but are based only upon their guess and opinion. Whereas, going Straight Wayby conjecture is not possible, but the worldly matters are also performed clumsily, and suppose: if some of those have been corrected anyhow, then those have been corrected after a long time and experience of the years. When it would be proved that the conjecture or guess was right or wrong, then it would be either done with confidence and wholeheartedly or left.

After concentrating a while, it can be understood that if the Prophets and Messengers of Allah Almighty (peace be upon Them) had neither come in the world, nor told the certain matters to the mankind, then the human being would not have been able to be civilized so early as he seems now, because he would have to follow the supposition and conjecture, and at that very stage, he would have used to wander until he would not have known certainly by means of experience of everything, upon which, the foundation of social relationship and morality would have been established. It was the duty of Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon Them) that they would have to bring the Scripture of Allah Almighty and inform the mankind about the entire those certain matters, which are the source of his permanent improvement and correction.
