‘A-‘uu-zu Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.

211.
سَلْ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ كَمْ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُم مِّنْ ءَايَةٍۭ بَيِّنَةٍ ۗ وَمَن
يُبَدِّلْ نِعْمَةَ ٱللَّهِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَتْهُ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ شَدِيدُ
ٱلْعِقَابِ

211. Ask of the Children of
Israel how many a clear Signs We gave them! He who altereth the Grace of
Allah after it hath come unto him (for him), lo! Allah is Severe in
punishment.

211. Sal Baniii-‘Is-raaa-‘iila
kam ‘aataynaahum-min ‘Aa-yatim-bayyinah. Wa
many-yubaddil ni’-matallaahi mim-ba’-di maa
jaaa-‘at-hu fa- ‘innAllaaha Shadiidul- ‘iqaab.

Commentary
It has been declared
previously that God Almighty and His Angels (peace be upon them) did never come
openly close to the human beings. Moreover, Allah Almighty has sent always His
Prophets and Messengers (peace be upon them) out of them for guidance of the mankind.
In this verse, this fact is being cleared from the history of the Children of
Israel. God Almighty says: We sent many such Signs unto the Children of Israel
from which the truth of the existence of God Almighty, manifested Truth and
Teachings of His Messengers (peace be upon them). But they put behind all those
Signs. Allah Almighty honored them, but they proved that they were thankless.
God Almighty bestowed kindnesses upon the Children of Israel in abundance; some
of them are being stated here briefly:
- They were set free from the oppression of Pharaoh.
Pharaoh used to cause the slaughtering of the Children of Israel and keep
their daughters alive, take hard labor from them, disgrace and ruin them
in all respect. Allah Almighty saved them from his oppression.
- A glorious Prophet named Moses (peace be upon him) was
sent by Him into them, who brought them out from the slavery of Pharaoh,
fear and dominion of the Qabtiis.
- Drowned their enemy Pharaoh into the sea before their
eyes.
- Kept them under the shadow of clouds during their
period in the deserts of
- Revealed Torah upon Prophet Moses (peace be upon him)
for their guidance.
- · Settled them in their own
Country Palestine.
- Maintained a channel of Prophets (peace be upon them)
among their race for a long time.
But, despite all these favors, the Children of
Israel followed their personal desires. They turned their faces from Holy
Scripture, revealed by Allah Almighty and denied from His Commands. They
remained busy as their mind desired. Allah Almighty sent upon them different
kinds of wrath as punishment for the disobedience, so that; they should come
towards the Straight Path. But even then, their scholars changed the words and
meanings of the Commands of God Almighty, and made changes intentionally in the
Holy Scripture. The public followed them blindly. If these people will resist;
even now; on their words and will not believe in the True and Last Word of
Allah Almighty “Holy Qur’an”, they should remember! Allah Almighty
is Severe in punishment and their end will be the same as it happened with the
previous nations.
