The lessons of Surah
‘Al-Maaa-‘idah have finished with the last lesson, now we are going to
review it and see the lessons taught by the Chapter (Surah) under
discussion. Actually, its all contents revolve around only one topic. We can
reap full advantage from this Surah; live a happy and successful
life, if we understand that particular topic.
It is inborn nature of the
human being that he desires to fulfill his every desire without any hindrance.
He thinks that he should make any such plan, what he wills, that may be done
and there should be no stoppage in its attainment. Moreover, everyone should
regard his assent, follow him and help him in gaining his object. The
Holy Qur’aan accepts this nature, but educates along with it
that independence of everybody should be bound of any rule and plan; otherwise
he is an animal, not a mankind.
This rule is called “Law” and
it has been made by Him, Who created the human being (The Creator). Accepting
it, is called “the Belief”. The name of that Law is “Holy Qur’aan”
and Its Maker is Allah Almighty. In the beginning of this Chapter, it
has been commanded “Abide by the Law”. It has been told in this way that the
name of accepting, Allah and Qur’aan, is “Belief”. Accomplish
your responsibilities. It means “your personal freedom is nothing before “this
Law” and there can be none maker of the Law but Allah Almighty. It is
the first sign of the Belief, without which, nobody can say him/herself “a
Believer”.
It is the condition to enforce
the Law that some traditions are established, and then everyone is admonished
that none should commit against these customs. It is the responsibility of the
entire nation as aggregate to watch this matter. In short, the Maker of the
rules of Law is Allah Almighty, but the responsibility of watching
them is upon the entire nation.
It is known that the real
things, which need special attention in the world, are four:
1. Allah Almighty
2. His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him)
and the Law i.e. Holy Qur’aan and the Sayings of the Messenger
(peace be upon Him), which explain this Law
3. The living being (mankind)
4. The entire nation.
Allah Almighty and
Holy Qur’aan are Eternal, Immovable and Unchangeable at Their
own places. Mutual relations between the living being and the society are
required to be established according to the principles commanded by Them
(Allah Almighty and Holy Qur’aan). It is duty of the society
to arrange properly for every person to cause to understand the Law perfectly,
and that is called Education.
It is the duty of the living
being (every person) that he/she should be bound to act according to the
traditions/customs, established by the society, and when one observes that any
tradition has become contrary to the Law, then one should inform the society
properly and leave that tradition personally. This lesson has been caused to
understand in this Surah and commanded that old nations erred
in either understanding or acting upon them. Those errors have been manifested,
so that we may be saved from them.
