Repel not those who are sincere - Quran Chapter 6 – 52 (Pt-7, Stg-2) (L-816) - درس قرآن

Quran Chapter 6 – 52 (Pt-7, Stg-2) (L-816) - درس قرآن

Repel not those who are sincere

Surah ‘Al-‘An-‘aam (Cattle) – Chapter – 6)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

52.  And repel not those who call upon their Lord at morn and evening, seeking His Countenance. Thou art not accountable for them in aught, nor are they accountable for Thee in aught, if you were to repel them then you will be of unjust.
52.  Wa  laa  tat-rudil-laziina yad-‘uuna  Rabbahum  bil-gadaati  wal-‘a-shiyyi  yuriiduuna  Waj-hah.  Maa  ‘alayKa  min  hisaa-bihim-min-shay-‘inw-wa  maa  min  hisaabiKa  ‘alay-him-min-  shay-‘in  fatatruda-  hum  fatakuuna  minaz-zaalimiin.

Commentary

The impostures of the people of Makkah were described in the previous verses and it seemed also that the Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) desired, “Somehow the esteemed and rich people of Makkah should listen to Me (Muhammad)”. He would have also thought: Would that I could show them those portents, which they demand, then perhaps they might believe.

To remove that conception, Allah Almighty commanded: If You can, seek a way down into the earth or a ladder unto the sky, so that You may bring unto them a portent (to convince all of them), even then they will not believe because they desire some other thing. And Suppose! If they believed after observing any strong portent, then such belief will not be acceptable to Us (Allah Almighty).

Allah Almighty Says: We desire! They should believe by thinking themselves and observing Our existing portents, which We have already sent down in the world. But their ears, eyes and tongues (all) are closed from these portents. Neither they will see those portents, nor hear any Guide and nor they will ask from Someone themselves.

Therefore, it has been commanded to the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him): Give up thinking about them. Your only Duty was to convey Our Message, which You have performed. If they do not hear, let them go. Now You should warn them who are ready to hear.

These were such poor people who embraced Islam, believed in the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) and had become ready to obey the commands of Holy Qur’aan; for instance BilalAmaar bin Yasir and Saalim (May Allah be pleased with them) etc. Honorable people had this pretense that they used to say the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him): We cannot sit along with these poor people.

The Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) had been prepared to prevent those poor people from meeting every time, so that the objection of the proud people may remain no more and perhaps they would come, hear and believe. He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) has been forbidden by Allah Almighty in this verse from doing so.

Allah Almighty commands: you should never repel those people from sitting with You (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him), who call upon their Lord at morning and evening, try to seek Allah’s Countenance. You don’t know the condition of anyone’s heart that whether the poor people are well or these haughty people will be good after believing, because anyone cannot be responsible of any other’s secrets. So you should treat the people according to their apparent condition. You should cause to hear those people, who listen and believe. But don’t keep dealing connection with those who remain in own haughtiness. Neither You are accountable for them in aught, nor are they accountable for You in aught.
