Behavior of Muslims with others
Surah
MAAA-‘IDAH (The
Table Spread) – Chapter – 5)
‘A-‘uu-zu
Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast.)
Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.
(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful.)

The Muslims were instructed in
the previous two lessons that they should not keep deep friendly relationship
with the Jews and the Christians, and it has been told very clearly about them,
who say themselves ‘Muslims’ and see towards the disbelievers with friendly
eyes, that there is a disease, a defect (of hypocrisy) in their hearts.
Before these verses, the
Muslims have been prevented – once in Surah ‘Aali- ‘Imraan and
twice in Surah Nisaaa’ that they should not keep friendly
relations with the Infidels, ignoring the Muslims. After this so much strict
guidance, now we should think, “How would we have to live in the world?”
Because surely the disbelievers will dwell forever as well as the Jews will
live until their prescribed time and the Muslim too are
not efface-able until the mortality of the world.
Till the present time, the need
for thinking more upon this problem was not felt because a very powerful Muslim
government was established in the world, and probably they thought that they
would never be put down. So this question had not any importance for them. But
nowadays, the condition of the Muslims is open. Whether anyone wishes or not,
but he would have to accept it incumbent that the Muslims are under a close
arrest and have fallen into the traps of the strangers from their all around.
It is known here that perhaps it was error of ours own that we did neither
learn, nor teach the dwelling manner by mixing up with different nations; considering
it seriously, while we had degree of leadership and instructorship of the
nations of the world.
It appears by meditating in
these verses that the guidance for the Muslims to live separately from the
Infidels and the people of the Scripture; is not due to the reason that they
are disbelievers and the Muslims are believers, but actual reason is that they
are very selfish and purely wrongdoers. At the other hand, the Muslims’
fundamental faith is that the entire humankind are servants of Allah Almighty,
and being the servants of Allah Almighty they all are brothers and sisters of
one another mutually themselves. Therefore, well-wishing for one another is
compulsory for them even having separate religions. They should not think only
for their own welfare, but let all of them get opportunity equally to reap the
advantages from the benefits of the world, and they all should take their
shares with equity and reconciliation, mutually themselves.
This is the lesson which was
forgotten by the Muslims themselves. Whereas they were given chance to act upon
it at their own as well as teach the world properly about the method of
dwelling comfortably in the life. But they forgot this lesson, learnt the
lesson of selfishness from others and put the teachings of Holy Qur’aan behind.
It is revealed that the only rule
of dwelling in this world may be that every nation, sect, community and class
should be independent in its religion and thoughts. None should suppress
anyone, but the entire human beings should agree upon it mutually that all the
people are provided equal share in the worldly gains. Therefore, the wars and
the battles should be dismissed, which surely depend on the selfishness.
It is the teachings of Islam,
“Do not fight for worldly superiority with one another, however you can fight
for moral pre-eminence”.
