Quran Chapter 9 – 52 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1201) - درس قرآن

Then see what happens

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

52.  Say: Do ye await for us aught save one of two good things (death or victory in Allah’s Way)? While we await for you that Allah will afflict you with a doom from Him or at our hands. So await then! Lo! We too are awaiting with you.
52.  Qul  hal  tarabba-suuna  binaaa  ‘illaaa  ‘ihdal-husna-yayn.  Wa  nahnu  nata-rabbasu  bikum  ‘any-yusiiba-kumUllaahu  bi-‘azaabim-min  ‘indi-hiii  ‘aw  bi-‘aydiinaa.  Fa-tarab-basuuu  ‘innaa  ma-‘akum-muta-rabbisuun.

Commentary

Tarabba-suuna – (you await), the origin of this word is tarabbasun, which has been derived from the word rab-sun. Rab-sun means “to await for someone’s goodness or badness”. Tarabba-sun has the equal meaning of it.

‘Al-husna-yayni – (two good things), this word is plural of ‘al-husnaa, which is ‘af-‘alul-taf-ziil from has-nun, and feminine of ‘ah-sanu, that is to say; the best thing.

The Hypocrites used to await always that the Muslims should be defeated and afflicted. Answer to their thinking has been given in the previous verse that the Muslims neither care for the afflictions of the world and nor they run behind pleasures. Their only duty is to obey the Commands of God Almighty. Every individual suffers from afflictions a few or more in the world. The Muslims consider it prescribed fate from Allah Almighty. According to that fate, sometimes the mankind will enjoy and sometimes will suffer from afflictions.

It is commanded that “you can think about us for two things – victory or defeat. Both are good for us. If we got victory; then we would be heroes, we shall possess the spoils of war and get title of ‘obedient servants of God Almighty’. If we are defeated, we would be martyrs, and for the martyrs; there are ready two blessings on the Day of Resurrection – which cannot be thought by any human being in this world. You are disobedient servants of Allah Almighty. Certainly, you will be punished for it. Or you will suffer from any big affliction. Or you will be destroyed and ruined by our hands”.

The world has observed that at last; the Muslims succeeded and got prosperity, whereas the Infidels, Idolaters and Hypocrites were defeated, wretched and disgraced. It all was the Result of acting upon the Commands of Holy Qur’aan and Instructions of God’s last Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him). When they gave up these both things, then the Muslims did not remain Muslims in actual meanings, and the fate of unbelievers was opened.
