Glory of the Messenger

Surah ‘An-Nisaaa’  (Women) – Chapter – 4)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

113.  And had it not been for the Grace of Allah upon thee (Muhammad), and His Mercy, a party of them had resolved to mislead thee, but they will mislead only themselves and they will hurt thee not at all. And Allah has revealed unto thee the Scripture and Wisdom, and taught thee that which thou knewest not. And the Grace of Allah toward thee hath been great.

    Commentary

Fazlun – (Grace, Bounty, Divine favor), real meaning of fazal is “too much, more, excessive”, that is to say; to give someone anything especially with kindness, which is a special gift, and more than ordinary presents.

Yuzil-luuka – (to mislead you), it is from ‘Azlaal, which means “To push back any person from the Straight Path”.

When we shall connect this verse to our previous lesson, then it will be said as, “The Messenger of Allah Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) began to realize in His mind, when He listened to the witnesses of the real thief and their oaths for him. He (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) thought that these all people cannot give false evidence. Due to their evidence it would have to be accepted that Ta’-mah is innocent”. But it was not acceptable to Allah Almighty that His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) decide in favor of Ta’-mah and resultantly an innocent person (the Jew) is determined as thief by violence.

It has been described in this verse, “O Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him)! They had made up their minds to get wrong decision duly settled by (misleading) you, but Allah Almighty informed you timely with His special Mercy and Kindness, and let you not determined as such, which was against the dignity of His Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him). They would have understood that by misleading you, they would succeed in getting wrong decision in favor of the thief. Do they not know that Your Protector is Allah Almighty? He is Your Saver from being misled. By intending to mislead you, they will never be able to harm You. They have been harming themselves by doing so. Allah Almighty has revealed Holy Qur’an upon You and disclosed upon You the truth. The Grace of Allah Almighty unto You has been great, He will never let you mislead from the Straight Path. He has bestowed upon you so much virtues and excellence, which have been surpassed most. And You have been given more knowledge and wisdom than entire other people. The conch people, who have inexpert knowledge, can never succeed in misleading you (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him).
