Learn from circumstances of ancient people

Chapter ‘Al-‘A’raaf (The Heights) – Surah – 7)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in God from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

Islam is neither the name of only some formal Divine worships like prayer, fasting, pilgrimage and paying the poor-due, and nor the right of Islam is paid only by the preachers conveying overly large sermons and the public have to listen to them, and then both groups begin to do their  own work. Contrary to this, Islam is that “everyone should be engaged in performing good works every time for the mankind sincerely and compassionately”.

We got through the circumstances of past three nations in the previous lessons. It is to consider:  What were evil deeds of those people for which, the Messengers (peace be upon Them) were sent unto them, and desired to remove? And what were the reasons due to which they did not obey their Prophets (peace be upon Them) and Their disobedient suffered from heavenly and earthly disasters?

Mutual evil among those three nations was that they used to consider that everything is only own physical strength, wealth and property and to command other people. They were unable to view above the rank and grandeur of this world. It was the result that mighty people desired to keep everything under their control and used to take hard work from the subordinates. Then they used to put them off after paying them more or less but not according to their labor. And they used to be addicted to pleasure with the earnings of their hard labor.

It was not teaching of Prophet Adam (peace be upon Him). The caste had no value among His people. There was no sign of stratification in humans. Entire human beings used to fall prostrate before Allah Almighty accepting Him their Creator and Lord. And they used to spend the production of their hard working according to their capacity in accord with their necessities by sharing with one another.

When they forgot Allah Almighty, then arbitrary gods took His place and the equation departed with the same. Quarrels began along with the Schism. They began to enjoy by seizing the needful things. The people were being treated according to the proverb “Might is right”. Bold people became the high ranking and the simple were pushed down.

The Messengers (peace be upon Them) caused to understand them: Behold! The world is not always an identical. Major destructive and deadly accidents may occur in it any time. You cannot arrange to be saved during extremes of life. The rich and the watchmen of their splendor were induced by hearing these words and they said: What is the dare of anyone that he may hurt us? We have power; equipage, obedient servants and we are ready for every accident. We wish to see him who treats us with crooked eye.

You observed: How the people of high class were corrupted? If anyone heard the sayings of the Messengers (peace be upon Them), he/she belonged to low class, poor and insolvent community. The three Messengers (peace be upon Them) tried their best that the rebellious people should refrain from their airs and get ready collectively for escaping from forthcoming danger being brothers of one another altogether.

Prophet Noah (peace be upon Him) knew that a storm of water is coming very soon. Prophet Hud (peace be upon Him) was cautious about the forthcoming dust storm. Prophet Salih (peace be upon Him) was aware of coming the earthquake. But there was only one form of being saved from those disasters, which was: the people suffering from arrogance should give up their bragging. They should believe that Allah, the Most High; is most Powerful and Omnipotent, and they entire should try collectively to obey Him, so that being pleased He remove the wrath from them.

It is obvious from these incidents that immoral people are seen involved in haughtiness and they do not like to sit with the public or join the common people equally in any matter, whenever any big calamity has to come. And accepting the religion by poor people becomes cause of their distance from the religion.
