Quran Chapter 9 – 38 (Pt-10, Stg-2) (L-1184) - درس قرآن

Laziness at the time of necessity is worse -1

Chapter Tawbah (Repentance) – Surah – 9)

‘A-‘uu-zu  Billaahi minash-Shay-taanir- Rajiim.
(I seek refuge in Allaah from Satan the outcast)

Bis-Millaahir-Rah-maanir-Rahiim.

(In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

38.  O ye who believe! What aileth you that when it is said unto you: Go forth in the Way of Allah, ye are bowed down to the ground with heaviness. Take ye pleasure in the life of the world rather than in the Hereafter? The provision of the life of the world is but little than in the Hereafter.
38.  Yaaa-‘ayyu-hallaziina  ‘aamanuu  maa  lakum  ‘izaa  qiila  lakumunfiruu  fii  Sabii-LIllaahis-saaqal-tum  ‘ilal—‘arz.  ‘A-raziitum-  bil-hayaa-tid-dunyaa  minal-‘Aakhirah.  Famaa  mataa-‘ul-hayaa-tid-dunyaa  fil-‘Aakhirati  ‘illaa  qaliil.

Commentary

‘Anfiruu – (Go forth), it is a word of command from the word nafara. Nafara means “to proceed, to depart, to be ready quickly for going”.

‘As-saaqal-tum – (you bow down with heaviness), the origin of this word is ’is-saaqal-tum, which is a changed form of saa-qal. It has been derived from the word saqala, which is a famous word and which means “a load, burden”. ’Is-saaqulun means “to bow down being burdened”.

Mataa-‘un – (the provision), except gold and silver, all things, which are held in the world for rest and ease of the human being, are called “mataaa’”.

Those people, who meditate in whatsoever has been described in this Surah (Chapter) and the Surah before it, can understand easily the meaning of Jihad (to try and strive, Muhammadan Religious War, the Crusade) and they have no doubt in it that Jihad means “to try for correction of the humankind according to the Commands of God Almighty; by accepting that He is the greatest Lord of all, and along with it; to endeavor to show oneself as a pattern of own conduct, personal deeds and manners”. The war is necessary at that time when any person or nation interrupts in the way of the correctness of the humankind; being proud, haughty and arrogant.

Therefore, an ambassador of the Messenger (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) proceeded unto the Arabian Christians Ruler at the boundary of Syria for conveying the teachings of Islam. In the way, any one of the Christians killed that Ambassador. The Messenger of God Almighty (grace, glory, blessings and peace be upon Him) sent a group of Army, for admonition of the Christians, to take revenge of such unreasonable conduct.

To fight against that Muslim group of Army, the entire Christians of Syria and the people of Caesar of Rome, under whose command were these Syrian Christians, rulers of Arab, assembled. Fighters of the Christians, who came forward in the battlefield; were about one hundred thousand and in the Muslim Army; there were only three thousand soldiers. They faced to one another in the Battlefield of Motah.

This incident was happened in 8th HijraKhalid bin Walid and Amru bin Aas (May Allah Almighty be pleased with them) had embraced Islam during that year before this event. And Khalid bin Waliid (May Allah Almighty be pleased with him) had joined that group of Muslim Army.
